Godzilla and men in black were both really good movies
I'm not saying the movies are bad. Just that they constantly, sequel, reboot, and rehash old stuff.

Also because if new ideas come out people hate it and rate it bad and they lose money. It's more cost efficient to remake something.
A huge part of the problem. Too few people are willing to get to know new characters and lore. So they give the lazy more of the same.
