If that's a broken storm drain there's a 100% chance you find at least one needle three condoms and a turd of unidentified species of origin in your car...I mean giant water filter.
I'd like to think it'd be that easy, but he'd probably have to take them to court. I don't know which would be cheaper, the cleaning and repairs on the car or the lawyers.
Yeah those signs don't actually mean anything. It's like permission slips from an activity saying that you can't hold the vendor responsible: they're just there to make you think you can't sue, you can totally sue.
Those signs are often not legally defensible. It can get them out of paying for your stereo if someone does a smash and grab, but usually not a failure of the basic infrastructure. Especially if you can show poor maintenance or the like.
That's a 12 inch sprinkler main, had one of those burst underground at the factory I worked at on Thanksgiving night, had to wade through 6 inches of water to get to each of the isolation shutoffs. Pulled up a 20 foot wide truck dock pad, shut the factory down an extra week for the holidays but it only took 2 weeks to replace
That's like in real estate. I don't have to tell you if a whole family was murdered in their beds by a serial killer. I just have to tell you if Greg got crushed by a rafter that fell on him. Seems like a similar sort of principal.
In NYC they don’t have to disclose any deaths on the property. If there is a failure of some type that caused a death it has to pass inspection after being corrected.

When I look at the color of the water that goes in vs. the color that goes out, I have to admit that a car seems to be a surprisingly good filter...
IdiotSavantTinker
Note to self, don't part in line with a large pipe.

Car pool lane?
captainqueezy8
That is quite the car wash, inside and out.

Insurance cites natural cause.
Burke616
Throw your insurance agent off the top of the building. It won't be murder, they'll die of natural causes! (Gravity is natural, right?)
thatguyfromny
Parking garages are getting pretty serious about punishing people who park over the lines.
Freak0zoid
This one appears to be between lines. Am i missing something?
slayston
Just the joke.
Freak0zoid
So, just like normal? Yeah, checks out. I still don’t get it.
neufala
Usually they just tow the car.... something else is happening here.
thatguyfromny
Is it making a "whoosh" sound?
RunsWithBullShit
At least the shitter is no longer clogged.
DGSlave1970

Seems like you are gonna get a new car paid for by whoever owns that garage
Munchman347
Sued for 'Blocking Essential Drainage System'...
rbudrick
Chances are, insurance pays market value for the car based on age and mileage,.minus deductable, and the owner gets fucked in the end.
mercmech

Solkanarmy
don't you guys have 'damages and costs' as a result over there?
Azsune
Insurance takes care of it. Then they decide if they take them to court to recoup costs.

"I'm sorry, your policy doesn't cover flood damage"
badgesweedontneednostinkingbadges
"Act of God" not covered. Neighbor's tree fell on other neighbor's garage. Insurance wouldn't cover it - Act of God.
nclu
Luckily, our auto insurance covered this one (house was fine, car was totaled as it compromised structural integrity)

"Not responsible for broken windshields" on gravel truck... business owners think these signs are magic spells. They ain't.
Mistruths
They are, because people don't know better. If it stops one person from trying, it was worth the money to make the sign.
Evenmorehorrifying
Doesn't cover gross negligence.
LeGanon
Unless they somehow knew that the pipe was compromised and failed to act, how would this be considered "gross negligence"?
Kamasu0Tra
By not doing standard maintenance? Shit like this doesn't just happen over night, there deff would have been signs before a line of that volume burst.
Raziel420

"At your own risk" from other patrons or passersby. Not for infrastructure failure of the garage itself.
LooseyGooseyBrett
I dont know Davey. Somebody likely hit that with their car.

Someone was driving on the ceiling of the parking garage?
