Check out your local outdoor store. They probably have some kess toxic (and less dirt repellent) sprays that are still pretty decent.

The problem with those systems is that to get those properties you need stuff that dissolves in very toxic solvents which get aerosolized.

Yeah. That is true for many of those. But there are aurosol free options aswell. Nikwax and grangers have some.
