Iran’s regime is NOT pro-gun. Guns are banned for citizen ownership. Government permits for private ownership of guns are only attainable by persons of “high standing” — meaning if you’re not a crony of the khamenei, you aren’t getting one.
Mess around w/ importing or building any type of firearm that can be used for combat and you will get fucked up bad if the regime finds out.
The reason is not public safety, but to prevent citizens from being sufficiently armed to challenge the regime.

They did develop the relatively low-cost drones they're using to close the strait. Sure, in hindsight, it looks like a complete no-brainer. But was it, really, when they went with this decision? It required some expert analysis of what could happen....and some leadears aren't even capable of that much.

Iran's drones are already battle-tested in the Ukraine theater. (To be clear, it's Russia buying and deploying Iranian drones to use to indiscriminately kill Ukrainians. Iran isn't the good guys. But that wasn't why the Trump regime attacked them.)

They are now, but Iran decided to make that investment long before the Ukraine war started. Otherwise, how would they even have them to sell/license to Putin?... In fact, that only further highlights the vast difference in competency. Iran made the right decision based on nothing but analyses and projections. Trump made the wrong decision in spite of a mountain of data.

If they wanted one, they'd have one. There are only racist assumptions, not evidence, that a nuclear bomb is their goal. Also, the last Supreme Leader put out a fatwa against developing nuclear weapons in 2003. Say what you will about adherence to religious decrees, but theocracies tend to take them seriously.

The US didn't think that the Iran could not close the Strait of Hormuz and Bomb the Arabic States, after Yemen started an Attack on Israel with 170 Shahed drones and all were intercepted. They thought that the Iranian wouldn't have distributed storage of those drones so that iran's storage could be depleted with a first strike. The US thought that the Iranian were incompetent. But they were stratgicaly and scientific prepared and handed the US their Ass.

It's not racist to say Khamenei and the clerics only like the science when it benefits them. Their constant imprisonment of academics is testament to that. The rest of the Iranians? I've worked with plenty of brilliant ones.
