Rick rolls has done more to computer security than anything else.

*looks at provided source link* ..... .... ..... .... I WANT to believe it's a link to the interview clip. But I DO strongly suspect that it's a link to the music video.

I was hoping for the Vice video as the sauce, but getting rickrolled... you right bastered.

Reminds me of this video with Ra Ra Rasputin being played on a calliope older than the events being described: https://youtu.be/3AeN-5PXaaQ

Shit 78s are a hundred years old. In my day our music came on wax cylinders. I feel old now.

You bastard! 😂. Here’s an actual old timey record for those who were feeling audio bullballed:

I know that's going to be another Rick roll, that's the way you bastards work, but does anyone have a link to the actual video? I love old timey shit like that

Imagine Rick Astley Rick Rolls Rick Ross, then Rick Ross Rick Rolls Rick James, then Rick James dropkicks tf outta Charlie Murphy, does a line, and runs out the door screaming into the night.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's the thing. This video was really polarizing. It was terribly catchy, over-processed pop and the video was soooooo cheesy. When it came on MTV, you bet you went to the bathroom or to get a snack

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some guy rickrolled Youtube 😆

That was great :)

Legend

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Was in a friend's band that made the Vice music reviews for "Worst Album Cover," and it was just his face. They gave the album a barfy face rating and proceeded to say they were just jealous, and ended it with "Nice Fucking Face." I was so excited and called him right away, as this was the best press any of us had ever gotten. He was not happy at first, but given Vice's unique review style and positive community reaction, he ended up making tee shirts about it. Gotta embrace the weird sometimes

Link?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Omg it was ages ago, circa 2010-2012, have to look thru Vice's archives

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

His band was just his name, Jack Wilson

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You are going to get Rick rolled right into a virus

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like that he is a good sport about it. Other artists out there would get all wounded about their art being used like this.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For all of you that do not know, the RickRoll was the follow up to this:

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

To my duck on wheels I'll tell my pleasures and woes
To my duck on wheels I'll tell my secrets and more
Then one day in spring I'll take him down to the road
Anything goes

Always check for "XcQ".

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly, I do not know what that means. Computers and coding is something I, unfortunately, I have not taken the time to learn, so I apologize for my ignorance.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Look at the "source" line underneath the imgur video. It's a YouTube Link, ending in "XcQ". It's a rickroll. (There are probably other 1/

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

videos on yt ending in XcQ, but the odds of you seeing another one are low. Also, there are other rickroll links. This is just the one 2/

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

that most everyone sends because it comes up first in the youtube search.) /3

Treasure Planet. Absolute gem of a movie, well worth a watch.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

One of those movies that got screwed by the release window (it went up against Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) after the trailers had basically shown the ENTIRE movie. Like seriously worse than Marvel trailers.
Sad that Disney said "Hm, we mismanaged both the production budget and the release... THAT'S IT, NO MORE HAND DRAWN AFTER WHAT WE'RE ALREADY MAKING."
The same director came back eventually after new management came in and made... The Princess And The Frog. Yeah...

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No confusion here, it's definitely a RickRoll I am linking, but the ultimate one, the whole of New York at Macy's Thanksgiving parade in 2008... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL-hNMJvcyI

Amazing. Also, my kiddo grew up watching Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Such a cute show. What a fun memory. <3

Honestly, I’m grateful it was at least a song people like… who knows how many computer screens I would’ve punched through had it been Justin Beiber’s “Baby”… yikes

Prank link baiting was a thing before Rick Rolls but the choice of this video in particular is what makes it timeless

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't think "any" song would have worked. It needs to be one that picks up right away, instantly recognizable and catchy for it to work. The drum solo at the beginning is all 3, which is why it works as the song. Unless it has those qualities, which a lot of songs lack, especially since many like to start slow, wouldn't work.

1 year ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I think it's been forgotten over the last 20 years, but it being a good song was absolutely part of the original intent. Like a "ha ha, we inconvenienced you with catchy music".

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

We could do it, call it baby battering people

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

It was a very popular song in the late '80s. And to his credit, Rick Astley is a pretty talented musician.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's kind of a bop.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Perhaps we do live in the good timeline.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Whoa., let’s not get carried away

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A song that people like? Maybe you were not around when it came out but it was loathed by millions of music lovers as being vapid, cheesy, redundant and way over played. I can tolerate it much better as a meme than I could as a supposed legit song.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm shocked this seems to be the unpopular opinion now. I've always thought it was funny because it was such a cheesy dorky song that's outdated. I guess people see it equal to Beethoven now.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Honestly it could have been something much more illegal too, I’ll be glad forever we did this with something mostly innocent.

Like earworm vs sudden underage ick or something..

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It could be a man stretching his ass.. If you are Gen X..

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's a nice little gag, it's generally kind hearted, it delivers the punchline quickly, it's easy to stop youtube playing. It's not going to give you malware, no one is going to hold if over you "ha ha, you're the idiot who clicked the rick astley link", and if anything it teaches a lesson of checking where the link goes.

I wonder how many have checked out his other songs on the back of it.

'Never Gonna Stop' is a banger.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like Rob Zombie's version better.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

He had a few fairly big hits back in the day.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love comments like these, I wish more people on the internet would formulate theirs like you do <3

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean i don't like it but yea i don't want to punch anything because of it

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

i think a huge part of why this is STILL a thing is that the song is generally very likable, not just some annoyance.

1 year ago | Likes 145 Dislikes 0

And while the video is so dated, it's still amusing. The "hammer arms" white-guy dance. 🤪😂

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm ambivalent about the song. Don't like it, don't hate it. But it's a fun prank that doesn't hurt anyone.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a version I prefer where someone autotuned it so all of his notes are in C https://youtu.be/cSAp9sBzPbc

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh....oh no. Nononono

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same with Rebecca Black's Friday - "Oh, hey a link, that might be Friday! *clicking intensifies*."

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agreed. This song was a banger even back then. Sometimes when I get rickrolled after the initial "you son of a bitch!" I just let the song play out if I'm not busy anyway.

1 year ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 0

I always love being rick rolled.

1 year ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Same, it's a catchy song.

1 year ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

YES thats how i have fought back over the years. I let it play till the end, and sing along. I was out dancing with girls back when this song was new and it was well liked then too.
