I remember this one ride at Disney world where the tunnel at the bottom had a narrow entrance with grey painted walls and they're was smoke before it. Your mind made the walls disappearing into the smoke and reappearing again feel like a solid wall. It was terrifying.

Was that the Aerosmith Rockin' Rollercoaster? If so, it's the loudest fucking Rollercoaster I've ever experienced, because of how they launch you out the gate with all the pneumatics and compressed air.

The highest altitude I've ever been to outside an airplane is 207ft. And I will never fucking do that again. I don't even go above the 3rd floor of buildings anymore unless I have to. Heights, man. Even video makes me get the bad "nope" feels

I have heard it's not as bad as just regular jumping off of things. Since you have forward momentum the "lurch" feeling is not as intense? Idk this is hearsay from like a decade ago. Still nope for me. I jumped off a like 60 foot cliff once and hit the water hard. I'm not tryna drown cuz I hit the water wrong

Once I was out of the plane all fear and terror were gone. And I mean it was just gone, I was just in awe. But when I was safe in the plane I was scared shirtless. When I jumped and was in the most dangerous situation, I had no fear. Weird how people are.

Thank you for saying this. As I got older, I developed a very strange vertigo and fear of heights. My wife has mezzanine seats at a theatre show. I had to hold onto the handrail and go slow. I don't know why. I didn't used to be like this

It's just a phobia. I helped my uncle winterize his house like two years ago and I had to go up on a ladder to unscrew some panels and I got back down and I said "I wouldn't have done that for anybody but you and my mom. I'm shaking" and I was, that was a smoke break for me

Yup, I suffer from the same thing. Never really had a problem with large heights in my teens and twenties, but about midway through my thirties I remember going to a lighthouse on the coast which you could climb to the top of, and getting the worst vertigo and fear of falling when at the top, outside. It's started to purvey itself into when driving across narrow bridges when I'm in a lane next to the edge and I can see water below. It's quite uncomfortable and I don't know what started it.

I went with a friend to Kings Island on a dreary day years and years ago. Absolutely zero line for most of the coasters. We rode The Beast 7 or 8 times in a row. We'd get off, walk right back over to the loading dock, and go again. Pretty sure I'm still suffering permanent everything damage from that experience, but damn was it fun.

No you have incorrectly interpreted that as an insult when I didn't mean it that way. Perhaps I should have said "engineers much smarter than you or I" because I wasn't including myself with those smart engineers. Personally I take comfort in the fact that there are engineers much smarter than the average person who are designing the very complicated things we take part in like roller coasters, and I was trying to extend that feeling of comfort out to others.
