In Living Color still...

Single Female Lawyer, I mean Ally McBeal

In the Heat of the Night (THEY CALL ME, MR. TIBBS!)

You are now watching "MadTV"

And finally, our favorite Star Trek The Next Generation

TNG was the only one of these I ever watched and it was in syndication by that time.

Today's the day I realise that *of course* Jim Carrey's proper name must be James.

Been binging The X-Files… again. Still so good. I love the atmosphere. Every room/set looked like it just had 20 chain smokers hanging out in it for an hour before filming with no more than 2 lights. Idk why it always looked like that back then…but it works.

Okay but why did the golden girls theme just make me have feelings? Seriously? Now I gotta text my friend.

Deep Space 9 is the best Star Trek show of that era. DS9>TNG>Voyager>Enterprise. Fight me.

#7 James Carry? I didn't know that he hadn't always gone by "Jim".

#1 I say Bea Arthur's incredible ability to play the snarky straight woman in the comedy elevated it from pure slapstick to actual comedy.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

YES thank you. To make being the straight-person to set up the wackiness of White/Getty look so easy deserves respect

"In The Heat of The Night" was filmed in Sparta, IL, not Sparta, Mississippi like the movie pretends.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

TIL Jim is actually James.

X Files was wild in retrospect. We're talking about a world where ALL the paranormal stuff is true. Aliens, ghosts, cryptids, undeads, psychic powers, brain parasites, sentient hiveminds, spontaneous combustion, they all actually exist. Yet nobody knows anything and it's down to 2 people in the entire US to investigate and confirm everything by themselves.

Here's the kicker: I remember the show being advertised as "Some stories are inspired by real cases" and I was going crazy trying to figure which ones are plausible, even as in the perspective of hillbilly imagination going wild. And I found it even more creepy that the last season after the hiatus was going the opposite direction, mocking itself. My mind went to "They are trying to discredit themselves in order to cover some real stuff they shown" during the years.

Yes many series had the same gimmick at the time, like X Files, Outer Limits or Poltergeist. They wanted to be scarier by involving the viewer and suggesting the stories might be true. Unfortunately nowadays some conspiracists and ufologists still believe that the X Files are kind of true, like based on a reality that big government wants to shut down by spinning it as fiction.

Seems like that idea culminated in Beyond Belief; Fact or Fiction. =)

Great selection, OP. I have to say, that TNG Season 1 intro looks more HD than I ever remember seeing it! It looks awesome!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The intro to TNG made me study a bunch of physics. Cause the universe is so big I wanted to understand how big it was. Turns out, it's pretty big.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I completely understand. I have a minor degree in physics. Got into it because of shows like TNG and Sliders. And I concur; pretty darn big! =)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So the "Scully Effect" but with TNG huh?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kinda, but like a Proto-Scully Effect since I was watching TNG before X-Files even aired. =p
