#22 it would be fine actually i think. It has surprisingly decent recoil, you got two hands on the gun and a stock for stability and the weight of it does a fair job of also keeping the muzzle down.
The unwritten rule is more "dont give a 50ae D'Eagle to someone that never fired a gun at all"
