Depressed with nothing to buy. :(

Oct 29, 2021 11:01 PM

I'm feeling super depressed and thought buying something from the internet...not amazon...would cheer me up. Can't find a single thing to cheer me up. Not even a new video game.

Edit: thanks for the words. Send stuff

Therapy is the correct answer. Google anhedonia. That's what you are experiencing. it's symptom of depression and you need treatment.

2/2... If you have not been taking care of yourself, take a shower and put on clean clothes. Improving the basics can help you out of a rut.

Or get your hair did

Buy a couple haunted dolls on Ebay. You can give them to someone for Christmas.

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

I want one, whoever my SS is this year! ?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Therapy, spend it on therapy. Depression is a state of mind and no small dose of dopamine will fix it. You can train your brain, get therapy

Go for a walk. I would recommend Iceland

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Stay the fuck off Amazon...look for a very local non-religious charity

4 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 7

I bought myself a gym membership and I’m starting to feel better. Didn’t think it would help much but it really has helped.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Buy some dope toys to donate to toys for tots or whatever

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sometimes using it to make other people feel the way you want to feel is what does the trick.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Don't buy. Create. A simple hobby such as whittling your own figurines can bring pride and contentment through learning a discipline

Go to the local shelter or food bank and volunteer or donate money.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Find a good website. Buy a few rubber ducks, and hand them out to a few people. Spread confusion and joy

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

www.thisiswhyimbroke.com

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dammit. That’s got some cool stuff.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Buying crap is no way to make yourself feel better. Get some good food, catch up on some rest and you might see some happy chemicals return.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Try getting something to gift someone. Making someone happy helps me be happy too

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Whenever I feel this way I start spending money on the people that need it or invest it so it grows and can find when I am ready to spend it

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Try a book. The spellmonger series did it for me.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Donate to a charity that means something to you. For me it would be a local animal shelter.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Have you tried buying...

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That video was never long enough and I'm surprised fortnite didn't rip off that dance to!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spend it on a donation to an animal shelter and feel good about what you "bought".

4 years ago | Likes 249 Dislikes 5

You do a donation for free if you donate blood.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can never get people to stay still long enough.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then volunteer, and pet them 8)

4 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Walk them and play with them and love them and get love in return!!!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Go to an animal shelter, ask if you can walk one of the dogs. Buy it a toy and treats

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Invest in your mental health & pay a therapist. A purchase is a stopgap fix, but working on yourself is rewarding & lasts a lifetime.

4 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

I was gonna say do drugs but this may be better

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is an excellent call.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you are down forget about the money. get your ass out into nature for a couple day’s shut down all the electric devices seriously do it

4 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

Seriously, get some sunlight on your skin, some dirt on your feet. Maybe take some shrooms while you’re doing it.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Great, he can go be depressed out in nature for that awesome ✨seasonal depression✨, then come back to his normal inside depression

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Science has proven that 45 minutes of outside time in nature unplugged. Increases personal happiness. In depressed people at over 60%

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What science? Which study? Peer-reviewed and backed sources for this? Because it definitely doesn't help everyone, which is something I 1

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a person that struggles I can attest that it does help it’s not perfect but it does raise your spirits in myself.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's nice, glad you have one source of coping and I'm genuinely glad it helps some people. But lots of others will try to sell it as a 1

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

myself know personally. It's not an end-all, be-all solution, as nothing is. I've tried this, others try it to, doesn't mean that it works 2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you tried eating a 15lb block of cheese?

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

I gorged on a block of cheese and crackers and ended up super constipated. Thought I was done for. Very painful and horrifying

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or a wheel of cheese? Might I suggest Manchego?

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Buy someone else something that brings them joy

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I can't believe how far down this very obvious suggestion is.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Works even better if you care about them, but actually isn't a requirement.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

have you tried hookers and blow?

4 years ago | Likes 190 Dislikes 11

Yes

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Hookers and blow FTW

4 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 3

Temporary happiness. But that’s ok

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

temporary happiness is better than indefinite suffering.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Possibly lasts longer than buying a thing. Idk, never done blow

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Short lived and expensive. Also a very rough comedown if you’ve made a night of it.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pretty rough indeed, especially as I’m normally flying the next day.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll take temporary happiness over life's daily grind until I die or retire any day of the week!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Psychedelics give lasting happiness. Ain't nothin wrong with coke and hookers though

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Grab a pizza, a fleshlight, and invite homeless people over for dinner.

4 years ago | Likes 403 Dislikes 15

And a show.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Grab someone else a pizza it’s the real high

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why do you need a fleshlight if you have a homeless person?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Dirty mike - the other guys

4 years ago | Likes 137 Dislikes 0

Six flags!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This. Experiences work very differently to possessions.

4 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Yes! Get some perspective on life go to the Grand Canyon or to a mountain resort for a weekend. Disconnect from the bustle!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Every so often I just pick a direction and go that way for a bit, maybe a day, maybe 4. local museums, forts, et al.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Vacations stink alone. Bring a total stranger, sometimes it's more fun that way.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Go on a tour

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did that once, it wasn’t fun.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There are trips for solo travelers, they're the best

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Real problem - I'm terrified of doing things like these alone and have no clue how to start doing them.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

What, vacations? Start with treating yourself to a nice dinner, build up to doing a nice dinner at a hotel where you stay the night etc etc.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also, people are not as interested in you as you think they are. People have their own worries/thoughts/interests to think about.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sorry, that sucks. As a big introvert, I can't even fathom that.
