It's *possible* that that's the reason that Stevens lost; there was no-one running against Rogers, and so -- in Michigan's open primary -- Republicans snuck over and voted for El-Sayed, hoping that he'd win (which he did) so as to run against Rogers in the general election. Propaganda in this country is incredibly strong to push 'socialists' in with 'national socialists' because capitalists don't want people to know what really happened. Hitler was very popular with the small business owners, the lower middle class, and farmers. He was going to bring prosperity. The demographic that the Republicans try to appeal to now. They believed it. Conservatives are so easily bait-and-switched by names and titles and 'boxes' that they won't even bother researching anything.

He was also less corrupt, cared more about his country and was less likely to act like a toddler. (Yes, I've seen his tantrums. The problem isn't that Biden was swapped out, it's that the party tried to act like nothing was wrong and had no backup plan when their hand was forced... by reality. With the current 24 hour news cycle, yeah that is short, but 30 years ago, 3 months was plenty of time to campaign. I honestly disagree that she would have done better with more time unless she fully changed her style. Her campaign was pretty filled with fence sitting takes, trying to court the non-existent centrist. "I have a Glock" and more time with Cheney than any DSA or equivalent comes to mind. If she tried centrist takes on a longer span, it would have been worse.
