I've decided to experiment with breeding these little wriggly orange tic-tacs.

Originally I just got these isopods to be a cleanup crew for my gecko tanks, but they're so cute I want to keep some as pets.

Ah, land shrimp (basically but not really).

I told my coworkers that I was going to raise them, and one of them commented that if you fry them up they actually taste like shrimp...

Welcome to the addiction that is keeping isopods. It starts with one culture then spreads to so many.

Oh I'm already in too deep. We have oranges and blues, and I just ordered some dairy cows........

Have you seen how large isopods can get, I saw the clip with the isopod facehugging that shark and I fear for your life

The largest terrestrial isopods top out at about 3cm in length, so I'm pretty sure we're safe!

Okay, that sounds manageable

They're so cool! Are they the same as those Roly Poly?

Yes, they are related! These are like their fancy cousins. :D

geckos eat those ... ?

They can, but they probably won't. I have large bioactive vivariums and these will hide under the leaf litter to help keep the tanks clean.

That sounds cool. Post some stuff about that.

Did you build those vivariums yourself? They look amazing. I'd be interested in creating something similar for my spotted salamander. (1/2)

I currently have him housed in a 40 gallon breeder tank that isn't near as spectacular as your setup.
