Fellow Imgurian @FigFrog recently hit the front page with this post: https://imgur.com/gallery/Ej9Ju
I've seen it before, and almost made this proposal the last time it was posted, but wasn't sure what the reaction would be.
I encourage you to go read the post in its entirety if you haven't. TL;DR, dudes rarely, if ever, recieve compliments from people other than family (wife, mom, etc), and it sucks.
Just check out the comments on the post:
This is just sad, guys. And it's not right or fair. Both genders experience hardships, and this is one of the crappy aspects of being a guy. Dudes deserve to feel sexy, too.
My proposal is this:
One day of the year, like today maybe? March 9th (the day after Women's Day) (or whenever), we give Imgur guys a free pass to post selfies, or portraits (photo taken by someone else), and then Imgur women and dudes alike come together to say something nice about their appearance.
Rules:
Just one. Be nice. Rude comments get downvoted.
It's just an idea. I offer it up for judgement. I just think it could be nice, and wholesome, and make some folks feel good. We need a bit of that these days.
Thanks again to @FigFrog from bringing this post back to light.
ShitSampleFiend
Being complimented is cool i guess but its almost always the furthest thing from my mind. I dont wanna stare at selfies all day twice a year

I'm a decent looking single dad. only gay guys ever compliment me.
ThePickle
Well hey, that's something. Only ever got one compliment from a gay guy, he told me I'm "painfully straight"
Moonadon
I'm all for this but I feel like Imgur will be less happy when our ugly mugs take over FP
APieceOfFuckingShit
Well I, for one, would love to see FP full of pictures of men. I'm starting to get tired of the boobs
DARfuckinROCKS
Every time I tell a guy on here that he's attractive or cute or whatever everyone downvotes and calls me a slut.
ThePickle
November 19th is men's day. Do it then if you do it at all. Show off those movember staches
Ronelyn
True dat. I'll be up for it, and I'm a freakin' lesbian. Everyone deserves self-esteem.
EverNotRelevant
Agreed. Making it the day after Women's day seems inappropriate.
TheRapeTrainConductor10
I vote against it. Being complimented is fucking weird, no one likes that.
DukeLetoofDune
Even when you are complimented on your conductor skills?
TheRapeTrainConductor10
Dude
PandraPierva
There's a whole Reddit devoted to people complimenting you
LumpWithaLeafHat
I don't use Reddit so I wouldn't know.
TheMissingByte
@FigFrog You were tagged here and I don't remember if image description tags work or not
Justheretospoutnonsense
Isn't that what the Christmas selfie day is for? But for everyone?
LumpWithaLeafHat
Sort of. I think that day just provides upvotes. This is specifically to combat the stigma against complimenting guys.
Justheretospoutnonsense
Ah gotcha. Makes sense
