The Temple was built in 447 BC to replace an existing temple which was destroyed by the Persians.
Around 500-600 AD it was converted into a Christian Church,
and in 1460 it was turned into a Mosque.
This old drawing (c. 1674) depicts how the Parthenon used to look like just years before it was extensively destroyed in 1687.
