Then there is profit for American energy firms.

They are also a hub for defence industry, a lot of US military equipment gets its first test in Israel, tech too with advanced chip plants being developed, and when the US cant be seen to support a dictatorship Israel often steps in on its behalf.
Sure it lobbies. The fossil fuel industry, oil especially, lobbies against environmental protections, the food industry lobbies against FDA oversight and we're seeing now how that works out, the defence industry lobbies who we've already established benefit from this. They lobbied against JCPA, and got nowhere. They reportedly lobbied numerous administrations for this Iran attack and got nowhere until Trump.
A lot of the lobbying is aimed at within the Jewish community to get them to support Israel or keep quiet. Their attacks on critics are much like their proxy work for the US abroad: it goes after people opposing US policy that the government cant be openly seen to be going after.
This isn't any different to its relationship with numerous other dictatorial regimes around the world. The Gulf states. Saddam in the 1980s. The Shah. Suharto. Marcos. The Central and South American dictatorships (which Israel often helped on Washingtons behalf even as they sheltered Nazis and targeted Jewish people). And when Washington backs you, it backs you all the way for whatever pecadilios you engage in: cult of personalities, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and genocide.
