My friends already know, but I haven't brought up the topic with my family since I was a teenager. When an ex outed me, my parents sat me down and said "you're not bi, now tell us What's going on". At 20 I told my brother I was polyamorous and he told me I was "being stupid and dangerous". Eventually I got married, but since it was to a man, no one was upset. I think they all assumed my "confusion" was behind me. I'm in my 30s now, still bi, still poly, and the last few years starting to live openly as a trans man. I've been out to everyone but my family for a long time. I just don't have the balls to deal with my family in person. If they don’t see my post, at some point I suspect they'll notice there's something more going on than a preference for masculine clothes and hairstyles. I hope they'll just be cool about it.
Goat tax: my partner’s goats doing goat stuff.
EllisyaRaven
Safety and happiness to your journey.
TheGhostofElizabethShue
ImperatorNikolai
The people that might get upset about it aren’t worth getting upset over
briham86
I suggest you learn from the goats: if anyone gives you shit for who you are, scream and headbutt them.
Kittyswitch
Perfect. I gently head butted one of the baby goats yesterday. She was very confused.
Tricorder
Congratulations. Have a green arrow on me and may the Force be with you. :-)
MurialsCourage
I think if they were gonna be cool about it you wouldn't be avoiding telling them. It'll be ok. Happy Pride month!

Why do people have to suck! I got you Fam…
push2play
It's more important to be yourself than what anyone else thinks. Family included. Congrats and good luck!
Tak231
As transfemme i definitely understand... And count my blessings that even though my dad refuses to accept it my mom does... In actually-
Tak231
Planning my own "Fuck it im trans" facebook post..
GreesyNyuk
You do you, fuck anyone who demands you be someone (or some thing) else.
OldMadDad
Um, fuck anyone but those people, those people don't deserve a good fuck. Fucking should be a positive fun thing enjoyed by consenting adlts
Skyff
I guess that's an option since they're poly, but I'm not sure they're the kind of people you want to get in bed with, or deal with at all
Shickzilla
Or probably don't fuck them. Don't think that sends the right message XD
Ninjainslippers
Straight white cis mostly-monogamous male here: IDGAF about gender identity or sexual preference except to learn more about a person.
thedarknesssurroundsme
That's a terrible idea! Fuck anyone but them! You don't need that kind of negativity in your sex life. Unless that's your kink that is
mksu
"I haven't had the balls to tell you this, but" *slaps prosthetic balls on table* "now I do."
modis
That line had me chuckling something fierce.
Kittyswitch
Hehe, yeah.
magicrhombus
Glad I wasn't the only one who thought something like this in that part of the story.
FriskySpoon
We're all proud of you for being brave. Best of luck, Kitty switch, I hope things go surprisingly well!
eggman989
For me it was being embarrassed by my grand parents overt racism and misogyny. New generations have new embarrassments.
happyguide
My son came out as non-binary in his teens recently. My wife and I are leftists, but our first selfish reaction was not great. It makes it
happyguide
harder for us and makes us worry. It’s definitely easier to have a hetero teen, of course. We wanted to believe they just didn’t know what
happyguide
they were talking about and we’re confused. Of course we have to respect their identity and simply love them. It’s still hard to remember to
happyguide
use the righ pronouns but they’re understanding as we learn. Maybe now that your parents don’t have to worry as much about your development
happyguide
and safety, being that you’re an adult, they may be able to accept it more easily.
Kittyswitch
Just love them. That’s all you can do, and that’s all they really need from you.
JustDriftingAboutTheInterWebs
Come out however you want. and if the family doesnt like it and become toxic, nothing says they have to remain a part of your life.
Mediathug
Time is on your side.
RedWingedBlackbirds
Yes it is!
Kittyswitch
I just don’t want to lose my niece and nephew. They’re little and I love them.
JustDriftingAboutTheInterWebs
i truly wish you luck and hope everyone's very accepting of who you are. especially family.
Ninjainslippers
This comment illustrates sadly why trans people have higher rates of mental health issues. Just know that you are loved.
JustDriftingAboutTheInterWebs
understandable, and i hope you dont. its not typically the younger folks who take issue.
JustDriftingAboutTheInterWebs
unfortunately its the older ones who can stop them from seeing you though. but as the nieces and nephews grow up, they'll see that
Kittyswitch
^this. They’re little enough that if I my brother kicks me out of their life, they won’t notice. I hope he doesn’t, but who knows.
JustDriftingAboutTheInterWebs
they might not notice now, but in a few years, they will. dont think they wont ask who you are if you show up at a family gathering.
BeckyNosferatu
Even if your parents never see it, I'll pose as your proud mom for coming out. Good on you, @OP I hope you're much happier now!
Copperbrat
Coming out is not an event, but a process. You'll likely have to do it many times over your life. Your terms. Your timing. Be strong.
ywmqm
I'm proud of you. That took a lot of courage.
Cyberball2073
@op
Blightsteel101
I feel you there. Im personally NB, Pan, and Poly. Getting family members to accept it has been a royal pain. Keep at it and never give /1
Blightsteel101
An inch to the folks telling you how to live your life. You know you a hell of a lot better than they do. /2
SirPumpUp
People still use Facebook?!

Attracted to who I am attracted to I am familiar with others don't understand.
MySpiritAnimalIsTheUnpopularOpinionPuffin
I noticed from your posts, are you still married? You mention your hubby/partner often. Do they support you or was it them that outed you?
Kittyswitch
We’re both poly. He loves me for who I am. My partner has always treated me like a man in private, and encouraged me to be myself.
MySpiritAnimalIsTheUnpopularOpinionPuffin
That is awesome. That right there is all that should matter. Blood is just relative. It's not family. Family is who you make it. You be you
Kittyswitch
Yeah, both of my partners are super supportive of my journey. I’m a lucky guy.
VitaminJay
Look at me. I'm the dad, now. You're loved and cherished.

I’m old enough to be a lot of peoples parents. I’m proud of you. It’s not easy to be open, I’m very proud you were brave enough to share.
Goldenteckel
Call me uncle, then (from the other side of the Pond)! Here's something to help you deal with the above dad:
PajamaStripes
You're older than me, but I can be a supportive younger sibling! They're the best, cuz they already talk shit about your parents with you!
Blackmetalhappiness
I am also dad. Be yourself, and enjoy life as much as you can. I'd hug you if I could.

Shickzilla
Congrats! Just gotta work on the dad jokes, and get your official dad outfit ready

hazzaroonie

Sinasohn

Sinasohn
Which means they better respect you for who you are. #LGBTQFamiliesDay ftw!
hiiamluciole
