So often it’s limited to when you have only a few days left. It’s your life, it’s your death. Once you feel you are done with this world, it should be your choice. Fentanyl is so easy to overdose on.
Seen too many "well, they're slowly drowning on their own fluids, but all we can do is make them confortable while they do so" passings to wonder why euthnasia isn't more accepted. Being bed ridden, low quality of life, a person should have the right to check out on their own terms

seriously? that's what most people say? People have to work to pay for a place for their families to live in. For food for their families to eat. I can see people saying "I didn't show/tell you enough how much I loved you". because people (mostly men, i think) were raised to never show emotions, but that is changing. I imagine my last words will be "that was fun". or "Can I do it again, and this time, not be allergic to one of the most used ingredients in most cultures?" or, "can I do it again
I just asked my wife, who's been a hospice nurse for 9 years, and she said she'd never heard anyone say that. But when she was an oncology nurse, she said people many times said they wished they had retired earlier though.
The only person I was with during their period of "terminal lucidity" (a family member of course) just asked for some food after not having eaten for several days and asked what was playing on the television. They fell back asleep and didn't wake back up before the end... I feel that kind of mundane stuff is way more common for final words.
