She feeds wild bears. One day she will be the meal.

Nice lady in Colorado got eaten by the bears she was feeding. They jumped her one night when she was taking out the garbage.

There's a permanent bear-ass mark on our house in NY, where a momma bear backed an idiot derpy bear who came after her cubs into the siding. Whatever sound dragons make, that's the sound we heard that night. The big black bear with a badly healed broken front leg was 'famous' all over the Hudson Valley for years, and may still be wandering around. Do NOT "de-escalate" a bear fight.

So, Fish and Wildlife will usually have to euthanize bears that do not show fear of humans because they are dangerous to humans. Please don't contribute to killing bears!

You can get in a bears face sometimes. Catch them on the right day, and they will back off or even run away. Other days, not so much. I have been hunted by a black bear; they are no joke.

Darwin hard at work here.

I was about to post the Finnish version but I see the matter has been handled properly. Kiitos!

I know we joke about them being friend shaped, but this is taking it a bit far.

9 months ago | Likes 92 Dislikes 0

I was about to post something about them being friend-shaped until I unmuted it and realized this woman's a fucking dumbass.

9 months ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Incredibly ill advised but very interesting how they seem trainable like a dog??? Still would never obviously.

I once caught two mice, each in one of my hands. I had heard them screaming at each other in tiny mouse cheeps and then saw them wrestle each other in high speed. I sneaked closer and just ... grabbed them. I didn't hold them firmly, so they slid out of my hands immediately and ran into their hole.

and they didnt bite? interesting story

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No bites. I think they managed to squiggle themselves to freedom on first try and therefor didn't feel the need to bite. I didn't want to hurt them, so I held them very lightly.

I mean it's just going to end up on a different site that's all.

Their fur looks just like that of black Labradors—so tempting to pet

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I admire this woman's heart, but I question her sanity.

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Fine this lady. She’s signing their death warrants.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Reminds me of the guy who makes fun of white women treating predatory megafauna like pets.

9 months ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Okay. The cougar & black bear aren't the most horrible situations, but the brown bears? Darwin must've been off his tits on Lethe-drops. ->

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Bonus points if anyone gets the reference, even if they are sad creatures in dark corners who've been sad for a very long time.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Want to get eaten by a bear? This is a good attempt.

9 months ago | Likes 262 Dislikes 0

Black bears are fairly docile but yeah the only time they'll bother with a human is when they're being territorial AKA exactly this. Either that or when they don't hear you coming. Otherwise they're mostly vegetarians and like most vegetarians, a little low energy, non-confrontational, and a little goofy.

I love how every comment is basically different variations of "bears will eat you."

9 months ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Either that, or if you get them too familiar with humans, they'll wind up getting shot

The only thing probably keeping this woman from being disemboweled is her complete absence of fear fueled by her freakish level of stupidity.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does she think those are dogs?

9 months ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

yes, yes she does. I'm surprised she didn't scritch one.

Yes!!

This is a Darwin Test. You may choose to not interact at all, or you may interact with the wildlife until you feel you have succeeded or failed. Time starts now.

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I actually think it started earlier ... if I'm not mistaken she's been leaving food out for them, which is what they're fighting over

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well good to know she deserved to be eaten.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Test parameters still apply, though.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ugh.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A fed bear is a dead bear. Sooner or later these 1000lb eating machines are going to associate humans with food and then there will be an attack and animal control is going to have to shoot the bear because they can't be released into the wild because they'll just seek out humans again.

Wait seriously? Like they get 'a taste for human flesh' type situation or is it more like 'humans are dumb and food shaped' type situation?

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The latter. They smell food and tear their way into cars, houses, dumpsters, etc. It's not like they are hunting and eating people, but they can attack if provoked or scared and importantly: they keep coming back.

In other news, local woman was mauled by 2 bears at her back door. More at 11

9 months ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 2

That really happened, except it was a man.
And was consensual.

9 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

At least they weren’t fighting each other

9 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

They overcame their differences, because they're good boys

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

At her expense

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Exactly. The best boys

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's what she would've wanted.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good boys working together

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow. To those who may note be aware: bears are not dogs. This is dumb.

9 months ago | Likes 216 Dislikes 1

I would absolutely want to do this and would fantasize about doing this, but I would never actually do this.

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

She appears to know what and how she is doing this. I would not recommend it for people who don’t know however, but the only reason it is dangerous is because a lot of humans don’t know how to interact with wild animals.

9 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 20

That's because YOU DON'T INTERACT WITH WILD ANIMALS! ESPECIALLY bears.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This 100% not true. She has been feeding them and if she continues it will end badly.

9 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

lol, you from the city?

9 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She only appears to have been lucky...so far...not knowledgeable.

9 months ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I mean.. there's a while documentary about a guy and his girlfriend getting killed by the bears they were visiting did years ( or at least he was visiting)

9 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

But some are raised by and live with people. She does say she loves them both so she has probably at least treated them like strays cats for some time before this. Maybe raised them. They do seem to know her...wild animals wouldn't back down from strangers who tried that shit.

9 months ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 11

If she really loved them, she’d help them be scared of humans. They’re gonna get shot approaching another human. She’s selfish

So this is probably just a situation like that libertarian bear lady then, where she fed the bears and now they come into town sometimes and kill and eat people (but not her, yet)

9 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, a family pitbull killed a 10 year old girl last month. No way in hell I trust anything living not to be dangerous. *looks at family of volcanoes move into my street...they seem nice.

9 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you overlook my statemeng: "bears are not dogs"? Hell, they're not even cats when it comes to predictability.

9 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

In real life there are not a lot of people that raise bears and ai tells me only one recorded pet bear killed its owner. But comparing that one case to pitbulls attacks give a very biased opinion about pet bears being safer than dogs...which is bullshit. But yeah there literally used to be a tv show Gentle Ben with a "pet" bear. Obviously two meth heads holding broken bottles are comparable but would probably feel less shame compared to these bears.

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You seem pretty spun up. Are you okay?

9 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You are saying bears are not dogs.. in practice, pet black bears seem safer than pet pitbull dogs.
