Imgur community I beg.
If anyone has any sort of older photos that are damaged, ripped or whatever and needs them digitally repaired, as long as it's scanned I can do that for free. I just ask permissions to use them for my job interview next week. I won't upload them to anywhere I just need to show off my skills.
If you do scan it, I recommend to scan it at 300dpi, 12 inches minimum for the best quality.
Thank you
UPDATE:
Imgur... THANK YOU!
I got a lot of requests and am working on them, they might take few hours if not few days. I will try to do them all but I might just jump from easier ones to more difficult restorations. If you are still interested shoot me a DM. Tis good community. :D
You all, good eggs, even the trolly ones. ;D
UPDATE 2.0
First of all, what the heck!!! This post became so popular, and I just post it in haste freaking out that I don't have enough photos for this position. I use to work for an archivist office but unfortunately all the work there was private. ;_;
HUGE thank you to everyone who commented and posted their photos. I will try to get to most of them, I'm not sure how possible is that but please give me few days to work on this. I will post before and after's once I have enough of public ones done. I am so gratefully for all the awesome comments, engagement and just wholesomeness of this community. You are absolute legends.
Thank you, friends. I appreciate all the help.

The internet has jaded me. My first thought (sorry @op) was "huh, I wonder what kind of Chinese data mining, ancestor facial recognition software we're feeding this time?"
poopgood
You need more?
HD99Faff
If you have something, send it over. It will take me a bit of time though. :D
oberwho
hi, if you still need work, here is a pic of my grandmother and myself, she is gone but this pic reminds me of a better time of my life . . . . .

Can you do a Google image search for damaged photos and search the resolution you want and for public domain photos. Or browse through online museum collections like the Library of Congress for images of suitable size and resolution?
HD99Faff
I could yes but I would prefer to work on photos that are not available online, and on something that is similar to my previous work experience which unfortunately I can't use as examples, as it was all private and the company I worked for won't let me. ;-; People here have been fantastic though. :D

You looking for old cracked type things?
HD99Faff
Yes, also if there is loss of color, or just any spills/markings. :)

hi,
lostwalllet
Good luck with the job! I’m curious as to what type of archivist office you worked for before (I’m a graphic designer and archivist).
HD99Faff
It was a small office where we mostly sorted, cleaned, scanned and repaired personal media. We had big projects though, and every singe one of them seemed different. We dealt with photos, slides, negatives, books, newspapers, and even old film. :)

Could you print a photo, damage it, scan it, and fix it digitally?
HD99Faff
As last resort I could... ;-;

Check out photoshoprequest subreddit. Many of us volunteer there and have gotten paying work through it.

Hey! Here’s a challenging one if you still need some. My parents from the early 70’s. He just passed in August. She died in ‘76. Would love to see it restored, but also thrilled to help you nail the interview!
HD99Faff
I would love to try restoring it! There is a glass in front of the photo is it possible to take a picture without it, or is it stuck?
iliketolol
Yeah, it’s stuck. I tried taking it off in the right corner, and I took the photo with it. :(
HD99Faff
No worries! I will try to work on it this weekend, thank you again. :)
StabbyTheCat
Would these be any use to you @op? The guy sat on the right is my Grandfather & it was taken during WW1 when he was on wounded leave for a week. His name was Archie Duval Freeman & he was about 18 or so at the time, /gallery/0OrvX
HD99Faff
This is an incredible photo! Is it possible to scan this photo? I would love to fix it, if it was scanned!
LAMovieDesign
That’s gonna be a tough restoration. You’d have to completely rebuild his mouth, and speaking from experience, that ain’t gonna be easy! But, don’t let me stop you! Get it!!
HD99Faff
I'm willing to try it. If successful, that would an amazing project! :D
StabbyTheCat
These are the only scanned versions I have unfortunately. My Dad has the original in a frame with my Granddad's medals surrounding them. There's also one of my Granddad with his Father taken at the same time.
I'll contact my Dad today to see if he can scan them & send them to me asap & l'll send them onto you. You can use whatever you like. I won't expect miracles because the photos were taken at a photographers & they're thick like card, but I'll see what I can do & you're welcome to try.🤞
StabbyTheCat
I’ve sent you the two photos I have of my Granddad, the one above & the one with his Dad. We don’t expect miracles as the photos were taken in 1917 & have not “travelled well”. Good luck love, hope you get the job!

Can you post some of before and after. Just curious
HD99Faff
Will do once I have some more done, I've so far done 3 and 2 were from private DMs, but this one is finished:

oneduringwanderer
I presume you have enough, but if you need more I have a bunch of pre-1930s photos. Happy to send one or two your way if they'd help.
HD99Faff
Yes please, I would LOVE that!
oneduringwanderer
This is the only one I have on hand, but it'll give you an idea. I'll check the rest when I get home & do some scanning tomorrow.
azulgojira
I have one of but the quality is so faded. I’d be happy to send it to you. If you tell me how to do that

Nice.
sciguygobyebye
Do it backwards. Scan a good old photo, damage it, scan the damaged photo, then say you fixed it.
1Monty
Is this of any help?
HD99Faff
@1Monty Let me know if anything needs changing. I'll DM separate files. :D
hunlogem
Awesome one
krautkebabs
Fantastic work
QueLinda1205
No joke, @op, this made me cry. Excellent work!
1Monty
Can I see your result at some stage please? No rush, just whenever, Thanks.
HD99Faff
Yes! I will DM you once I'm done. It might take me a bit though. Excited about this one!
WackyTicTacCasualty
you have to post before & after images here too
HD99Faff
Will do with yours! :D A lot of requests are private, but if someone is fine with me posting them I will. :D
HD99Faff
Yes! That is a perfect picture to work on! I'm adding it to the list! Thank you!!!
WaxDragon
Good luck on the interview!!
HD99Faff
Thank you!
Ronelyn
I have a few. How d'you want to do things?
HD99Faff
Thank you! However you want to, if you don't want it to be public just private message me. Otherwise a link should work. :)
Ronelyn
Messaged. Ping me if you need anything further.

Ooh!

My wife's grandmother just lost her husband. This is their school photo.
HD99Faff
I will try restoring it! I might do it next week though after the interview, I hope that's alright. Is it possible to take a scan of this?
Calicious
Woo! Thank you!
NonExistingWisper
I have a very old photo in black and white that I'd love to see 'brought back to life' (as a gift to its owner), would you like a go at it?
HD99Faff
Yes! You can DM with the deets and I'll add you to the list :D Thank you!
NonExistingWisper
I'm seeing its owner on Saturday, will get a scanned copy then!
HD99Faff
Ok! :D If you can try to do minimum 12 inch, 300 dpi, it seems like a large file but it will really help out with best resolution for printing in a longrun. :)
NonExistingWisper
I'll try my best!

If you could restore this old Virgin Mary portrait it would mean a lot to my grandmother.

That's Sasha Grey, a current-day actress. It's someone's merch with a faded photo filter on it. Just wanted to let you know so it doesn't impact your interview. Here's a link to the original image:

serious question. what is the difference ?
AwwGeeRick
Without a space between the period at the end of the sentence and the url, imgur's dumb app adds the period to the hyperlink. (I assume it's on the app side)
TripleDane
TY. I did not know that.
