How'd I spend Friday? Oh, just seeing Weird Al in concert and meeting him after, no biggie...

You always hear "don't meet your heroes" but thankfully Weird Al is the exception to that rule.

After a high-energy two hour concert he did a meet-and-greet with 150 people and I was fortunate enough to be one of them. When my turn came the photographer said "Al, this is Clay".

Al approached me and said "Hi Clay, it's nice to meet you." I shook his hand and all semblance of composure went out the window. I told him, with my eyes tearing up, "I've been listening to you since I was 13 and I wanted to thank you for the smiles and the laughs. You got me through some hard times and I have vivid memories of lying in bed Sunday night listening to Dr. Demento waiting for the Funny Five and thinking 'I hope Weird Al made it this week.'"

He put his hand over his heart and, with a SINCERE look of gratitude, said "Thank you, that means so much to me." He signed my Simpon's Weird Al figure and I gave him a 3D printed UHF posted I had made and he said "Wow, this is so cool! Thank you!"

We posted for the picture and I shook his hand again and said "Again, Al, thank you for everything" and he said "it's my pleasure".

The show started at 8pm, Al went on around 9, performed until about 11 and I stood in line until about 1am to meet him and I'm SO glad I did. He gave me his complete attention, seemed genuinely touched by my comments and didn't make me feel rushed or that I was a bother.

I saw him lat year in LA. It’s a good show. Lots of fun.

Thanks for sharing your moment with the fabulous Weird Al! His actual full name is Alfred Matthew Yankovic. I like how "Al" is just short for "Alfred" and not some made-up nickname.

He's one of the good ones. Down to Earth. Honest. Affable. Humble. Much like Willem Dafoe, Keanu Reeves, and the late Robin Williams.

Yeah, I couldn't believe that after that show he put on and after two hours of meeting people he was still fully engaged.

So pleased to hear about this. The whole never meet your heroes thing has put me off. I’ve seen Al three times and loved them all. Never the same set either. I’m happy you got to see him.

He's such a nice guy. I got to meet him after he performed locally for the Mandatory Fun tour. The show was great, the pre-show party was awesome, the Meet & Greet after was awesome... Best birthday gift ever.

I saw him at Red Rocks a few weeks ago, amazing show.I saw him in NH when I was 14 and met him then, he was totally lovely despite us lurking in the parking lot to try to intentionally run into him like fucking weirdos.

Wife and I saw him and met him in Augusta, GA. I wore my Cal Poly T-shirt since I also graduated from there, we chatted for a couple on places in that town. Nicest guy you could ever meet!

I was surprised how much energy he puts into his show. I expected any other concert where he stays on stage and performs his hits. But they play Al TV clips between costume changes. I was at a smaller venue so he went running through the audience during a song. Recommend it to anyone.

He puts on an AMAZING show and Puddles is amazing. One thing I'll suggest is if you got the VIP tickets he prepared for a LONG night.

Yep! It was a great show and I was pleasantly surprised at Puddles; I've seen him sing in a few videos on Youtube but had no idea he'd be a funny as he was.

I enjoyed Pudfles too. Didn't know anything about him. The kid eating the ding-dongs was great. So much enthusiasm. And the tequila bottle looked like he knew what to do and did it well.

The long non-sense song at the end was outstanding. Good times

My brother was there. He hits Weird Al every time he comes in the area, whether it's Syracuse or Darien Lake or wherever else. If it's within a couple of hours, he's there.

This was my first time seeing him but I'll absolutely go see him again if he's in the area but I'll probably skip the VIP; that was a once-in-a-lifetime thing for me. :)

I actually rehearsed what I wanted to say to him; I'm usually not big on the idea of meeting celebrities but Al has been a HUGE influence in my sense of humor, ever since I first hear him in like 1983.

I've been watching The Adventures of Brisco County Jr this month, and I just really like Bruce Campbell.

He is indeed pretty groovy.
