I like the question, "What would have killed you a hundred years ago? How long would you have lived?" For a lot of people, the answer is "Until I got appendicitis." But we don't see the misses - how many kids today were vaccinated against lockjaw? How many weren't exposed to lead? How many weren't bled to death? How many didn't die of gangrene?

My experience has been, coming from a zealous evangelical childhood, reading the Bible was impactful enough for me to see it as the collection of myth and story and bronze-age superstition that it is.
We never read the Bible.
Single sentences, out of context, with the literal, magic answer to every question held inside by an elite class with it all only interpretable by them.
Putting the pieces together has made many people realize it's a stupid puzzle.

It always makes me nervous. You never know if they're going to go "things were different back then" or "mass murdering infants is good if god says so". I mean sure there are nice things in there too like "feed the poor, heal the sick" but IME they're more apt to justify genocide than universal healthcare after being confronted.

I grew up in the third world and got every vaccination I could get my hands on, and there were quite a few. I did have to suffer through both measles and mumps, but that was in the days before vaccines for those existed.

My daughter and I were walking through a cemetery back in the late 1990's. We noticed so many tombstones of children and infants with dates in the 40's to early 60's. I explained that they probably died from measles, chicken pox and mumps, etc. I told her about having mumps when I was a little kid in circa 1969. I was too young to remember my chicken pox and measles infections.
We did not have a vaccine discussion at that time. I made sure my kids were fully vaccinated.

I'm not sure that's much of a factor here. I mean Japan, Italy, Spain, are all on that list. And they have some of the oldest populations of any countries. Japan is famous for it. Japan has the third oldest median population in the world.
The US is ranked 70 for average median age. Right next to Australia at 77. So even the countries most closely related to us in that category are far separated in terms of healthcare.
