My Side of the Mountain was one of my favorites as a kid. Read it many times, but I lived on the West coast (in the days before the internet), and a lot of the East coast references, and flora types were a bit puzzling.

Same for me, but a Midwestern kid who thought the big city was Indianapolis. Still, you get to the top of a hill or find an old growth tree with some rot in the middle you could widen... Adventure from another era. I did name one of my dogs Frightful.

None of those are banned though, and the books in this post aren’t banned either - they’re just cherry-picked removals from a couple school libraries across the country. The only books actually banned in the US are all banned because of fraud, copyright violation, or containing classified material. I looked through the stack to see it and say the same thing. I mean, read it I guess, but more to realize 'classics' aren't always actually worth it, instead of because it's any good. Though that's a valid thing to learn from it, I suppose. Question what you're told and all that.
