I have one of these heaters, they are not cat safe. Working along in my shop, what's that smell? Turn around to find the cat leaning on it and smoking. Actual smoke of the fur burning. Burnt half way through her coat. No cats were harmed.
I was warming myself on a gas one when I was little... before we had electric in the house. Had a bath, was trying to warm up cause winter, towel around me: Held towel behind, warmed front near heater. All good. Turned around, towel in front, warm backside, hard to judge distance at rear.... Beehive pattern burned into my bum, lasted weeks.
