I've been putting that kind of thing off for way too long.. currently in the ICU for a couple days, again, for my repeated mistakes. I might just have to bite the bullet too. Good look my guy
xXCutieMomokoXx
while you're in there make a list of all the little things you want to do, museums to visit, games to play. and tackle that list when you're looking for something to do
Dybidude5
I am 4 years sober and every struggle and temptation was worth to be fought and to be won.
First days are hardest and then it gets better every day, step by step to a happier life.
You're already on your way and I believe in you.
Linkisactuallymydad
I’m proud of you for making the first step!
DesdemonaMoor
First step to feeling good and being in a supportive environment of people that want to see you well! Good luck @OP.
LilyCuster
I’m so happy for you. Go for it! I’m also jealous. Wish I could join you.
Omnislash9
I wish I could go too... just can't afford it. I'm 3 days into drinking half of what I used to and it's going well so far, I'm hoping to start adding days off soon. Tried cold turkey a couple times and never made it long so I'm going for a taper down instead.
My best friend got sober after like 15 years of hard drinking so I know it's possible, but goddamn it's hard.
If you ever wanna message me and talk about it, I'm here. Lots of love to you
Skystriker8492
Im gonna recommend two things that changed my life immensely, 1 get a psych eval while you're there, I did and started a medicine that made recovery possible. 2 don't dismiss any suggestion out of hand
That's what I did when I went this last time after many failed attempts and now I'm sober almost 15 months, managing a sober living house, and about to graduate Summa cum laude with my degree in psychology. I won't wish you luck, that will only work so long. I wish you competent practitioners.
Aksuuuh
Everything will change, when you come back it's been so long you don't recognise anything. Everyone are complete strangers. Sound crazy? Because it is. You'll be fine. Best of luck!
Asuicidallemursgotmygun
Been there. 30 days my first trip and 60 days my 2nd trip. I just got home at the start of Sept. Coming up on 6 months sober now. It's ok that your scared. It's fucking scary. You will be ok though. Rehab is what you choose to make it my friend. Be open. Listen to everything they teach you. Even the stuff that doesn't seem to apply to your specific situation....hear it anyway. It's a long, hard and scary road and it's by far the best one I've ever traveled.
rotodisc
You’ll be fine. I believe in you. Whenever it gets hard or dark or whatever, just remember that it beats the fuck of the alternative. Moving forward is incredible. Even if it’s scary.
bananaspitz
You got this. Face that shadow and make it your bitch.
11Weasel11
Just having the balls to admit it and be willing to spend 30 days in rehab tells me you are worried for no reason. Go do your rehab. You got this!!!!
LenneSamunai
You can do it @op! You got this! https://media4.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPWE1NzM3M2U1dXpjZ2Zpc3NicGRjN3o2bXR4ZGxqbWhlMjY1ZzM1NHh5dXBidTZxZiZlcD12MV9naWZzX3NlYXJjaCZjdD1n/JwjBy94VzDd6/200w.webp

Hey @op I'm not going to lie the first few days are going to be rough but the trick is to think of it as a get-a-way and so you can relax and recover. It can be scary, I know I had to go before but it turned out to be the best time of my life. You'll be okay, I promise
IblameTV
Hate to tell the 30 days aren’t the scary part. Rehab is cushy, you get food, exercise and a warm bed. Clean and sober you will intuitively know how to handle situations that used to baffle you. There’s a an acronym for FEAR. Face everything and recover or fuck everything and run. Everyone goes into rehab alone but there will be plenty of hands reaching out to help when you get out.
TheBigCheese93
Being an addict man you're already "gone." You're going to take 30 days to find your way back. We'll be here waiting for you.
GuyPilot
Withdrawal is rough. You'll be proud of yourself once done! Go get em
LazerSpacePirate
You're actually so brave and this is an act of self love your future self will be so grateful to have received.
kingaaronalmighty
You got this! Going to rehab was the scariest thing ive ever done in my life but it was the most amazing thing to ever happen to me. Youre not alone ❤️
0RocketCat0
They tried to make you go to rehab and you said, "yeah, that might really help. Worth a shot." Good on you.
maincarrot
Hopefully you can see that fear means you recognize that big change is about to happen. Rehabs starts right now, before you even enter the doors. It started when you made the appointment. It started when you spoke with the doctors...
So embrace the change, not the fear. You're already in rehab.
You are loved, and it is important to be loving to yourself. There's nothing to be afraid of if you give yourself the chance to change.
Be kind to yourself. We'll see you in 30 days.
WiiShaker
You should be proud of yourself for getting to this point. There are alot of conflicting emotions involved in getting clean/sober but it shows that you love and have respect for yourself, which is the most important part of living a life. We tend to forget that.

Read some books. Play some video games. Sleep. Think and re-think your next steps.
lifesucksgetahelmet
I bought a kindle because I’m only allowed communication devices after five days, and then for only three hours a day. Also bringing a new paperback series I just bought and puzzle books. I just don’t want to fully seclude myself and want to make friends. Hard for an introvert
DaylonPhoto
You can’t see it yet, but down the road you’re going to thank yourself for this decision.
StaggerRhythms
You can do it. It sucks letting go of a substance that used to be fun but has since twisted itself around you. Youll try to trick yourself that it will be like it was, but it never will be. Youll just lose your loved ones and your job. Kick it, man.
rileysmurf
I didn't go to rehab but I had a 2 week hospital stay and then 2 weeks in a mental hospital. The hardest part for me was not having access to the internet. All of my friends are online so it was hard for me to be without that only granted one phone call to husband limited at 15 minutes per day. I did meet some people there I could get along with but the most important thing is to get enough good books for the duration.
CaptainMilkshake
I work at a rehab. You ain’t alone, and you ain’t unique. You deserve happiness and it is within you. Time to put the helmet on and go get it, Friend.
robcod
I did that 15 years ago Homie! One of the scariest times in my life. I met a lot of great people who threw addiction had done some not great things. Rehab helped me realize that's not all I am. Give it a real try, you're worth it
BananaForScaIe
@OP jsut got back from 90 days! SOOO GOOD, but you absolutely get out what you put in! Will pray for you and stuff!
TheOGPooner
He is unique in his struggle w addiction. We all struggle differently.
Dybidude5
Everyone is special in their own way.
But we all got the same aim and everyone can do it with the right help.
CaptainMilkshake
You may need to spend some time on the porch again - "You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else."
Imjurbro
I really hope you don’t work in rehab, never been, but that doesn’t sound like the help I would want. Fck.
CaptainMilkshake
Hmmm. Then I also need to warn you about movies (and possibly television). That quote is from the movie “Fight Club” and the porch refers to a scene in the movie. Very emotional.
Imjurbro
So you’re a bully too. Amazing. When I was like 19 I thought Fight Club was the shit. It’s not.
lifeisadadjoke
I did the 30 day thing too. Been sober since then...15 years now. I was terrified on my way there...but that faded quickly. It's like hitting a pause button on your life, and the skills and outlook that you will develop will pay off in every part of your life. Good luck...you got this.
BigDaddysMeatWagon
Whoa big congrats.
charliechaplinslookalike
This!
Euchre
Did deciding to go into rehab prove to be the hardest and most painful part?
lifeisadadjoke
Not at all, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.
wejustdontknow
I did a 30 day then a 90 day later that year. 8.5 years sober. Best thing I ever did. But yeah I remember the fear of going even one day without my "friend" alcohol. That friend wanted me dead and I'm glad to be out of that. OP can do it!
thekreat
I've been 3months without alcohol, 2months without opiates. I dont even know what happpened, I just decided to stop. Its a long ass story as usual but damn I feel good and am proud of myself.
ChippinStrata
And you should be.
lifeisadadjoke
Remember, the monkey is out front doing pushups. But big congrats and keep living your life!
wejustdontknow
Outstanding. Keep going. Things get easier to handle in sobriety. I promise.
thekreat
Yes, I'm very motivated to do this. Things are allready easier, I actually wake up in a good mood and get things done. :)
wejustdontknow
Yep! Keep us up to date. Get through today. Tomorrow will take care of itself tomorrow.
