Given without other peripheral veins getting damaged and also for long term use of medication due to this being less prone to infection

They put it in a vein and push it up and over to the heart. They use a GPS-like system to guide it into place. I had one. The procedure (1)
is done under local anesthesia. I think it took about 20 minutes or so to do.
