Always been curious about adderall. Middle aged, HS dropout, successful manager in tech, and sudafed makes me productive af
cardinal29
Get diagnosed, then it's about finding the right med/dose
Arcygenical
Adderall both got me out of, and kept me out of, "baby jail" when I was 13.
thevortexmaster
Dang. Glad it helped
You and me both! Pretty sure I'm allergic to jail, aha.
Sounds itchy
Seggs
parent here. when you say "baby jail", do you mean "juvenile detention" or "havent stepped outside the house in over a week due to the...
demands of raising a newborn." ?
The former, unfortunately. The latter sounds like a job for a babysitter (and perhaps some stimulants too, no judgement there!)
cant caffeinate your way out of 12hrs of sleep per week for 6 months at a time...

?? What’s “baby jail?”

My dad went to a similar jail, except it was for gay babies. Hasn’t returned since, he just streams Mario 64 rom hacks all day.

Congrats you dont need aderal. I literally cant function without it and there is a shortage.
LANAAAAAAAAAA
I tried Adderall for a while but made me feel so "meth-y" Vyvanse on the other hand has saved my life and made me feel human again.
puffschick420
That means you actually need it and it’s working. It’s only fun if you don’t medically need it
ezgoodnight
Wow, do I ever hate this mentality. There is so much bias against the medicine I use to feel capable of doing my laundry.
iCurse
I'll take being boring over almost getting fired every week because I can't get work done until sheer panic takes over
Karukos
If you have PTSD, be careful with those stimulants. You might show ADHD symptoms but they are basically a side effect of trauma. Can end bad
hashbaz
I would be 100% ok with being 'boring' if I could just get things done and not ruin my life.
Bakerysnake
God yeah, I don't need a fucking personality I need an attention span longer than ten minutes I have a shit one anyways so it can go.

I need to move to America for all the drugs. But with my luck, probably get shot first week
SeanBeanJovi
I hope you mean the continent & not the US. The drugs here are expensive.
smashpro1
I would be okay with not having a dozen different thoughts at the same time and barely being able to comprehend them.
hekati
Adderall might be for you. Talk to a Dr
All it did was kill my appetite.
nullbr
Why are you me?
mattrixk
I'd love to be able to do simple household tasks.
This. Everyday is a cycle of "I should really do [task]" & then not doing it. Then getting anxious af because I didn't do [task]. Repeat.
SpoonOfDoom
I'm boring anyway, if I could get things done that'd be a pure win!
whataluckygoldfish
And actually finish something. Anything.
koireworks
I got the adderall to conquer the ADHD but the depression and exhaustion still ensure that nothing gets finished.

HedonistBeard
Finishing the same things I start would be real neat but it feels like a stretch goal.
tinyfootprints
With Adderall I can think in a straight line all day. Unfortunately, one hit will keep me awake for three nights, then I'm a wreck.
textilelover
I wish meds helped my kid. He struggles so hard with it but amphetamines give him violent mood swing. So rage-filled. Nothing else helps.
xaviraan
I'm boring and don't get anything done either. Where can i get that adderall thing?
RailRabbit
Go see a doctor dude. I waited 33 years and I regret not doing something about it sooner
JacobFoxxx
Just posting cause maybe this will help sum1 else but herb? was the most perfect replacement for prescription stuff for ADHD
CatchySensibleName
Yeah, people don't seem to understand that untreated ADHD can be seriously debilitating. It's not just, "Oh look, a butterfly."
ChaoticGoodTransGirl
It makes every single day a living hell, personally. Not surprising we are 6x more likely to kill ourselves
So many people get upset because they have to keep repeating themselves for me. 30 seconds and my mind is on another tangent.
Prior to treatment I had never held a job longer than a year. I'm now on year 13 at my first job since medication.
hotrodny
Is it because jobs become boring and uningeresting after a while?
Understimulation can be painful for people with adhd
That's a big factor. I also irritate my bosses because I can't pay attention to instructions/explanations for longer than 30 seconds.
riplikash
Even things you love can become boring and uninteresting, or at least have parts that are boring and uninteresting.
Within 30 seconds people usually say something that sends my brain on a tangent. Then they have to repeat themselves over and over.
Tell me about it. I can't stand my hobbies anymore. Doctor seems to think it is depression.
Theraininspaindrainsmainlydownthemainvein
I think you need to experience both sides of the coin, i used to be on Ritalin and it did help me focus but now that I'm off it i can see
how flat i felt while i was taking it. My ADHD isn't too bad though and I've learned to deal with it on my own so i can't speak for everyone
Ritalin had that effect on me but then Adderall didn't. Different drugs effect people differently. Also some people can cope differently.
I mean...adderall really might help with that.
DriedFishFromMars
Aye, same here
patsfan007
I’m diagnosed ADHD but my doc won’t give me a adderal because they think my ptsd is the cause so right there with you.
Seriously get a new Dr. And maybe someone to support you through that process.

That's awful i'm sorry to hear that, i hope you can find a better doctor

It works well for me. It really depends. Since I needed it it just makes me able to start tasks and not defy my own intentions all the time.
I felt like I was both a parent dealing with a lazy distracted kid, and the kid. "Oh my god, you still haven't even started?! Come on!"
Literally how I described it to my spouse. Instead of an angel & devil on my shoulders cartoon style, a 5 year old and their babysitter
"It's been 3 hours, have you done anything?" "well, I started to read the manual, I got distracted." "Just work on it!" -person, to self
This is my eternal internal monologue.

What if I'm already boring and neurodivergent?
TheEliteInvaderZim
Been adhd my whole life with no medication. I wanna try Adderall just to see what "normal" feels like.

Am therapist who used to work with AD/HD kids. Parents: "It's turned him into a zombie." Me: "Okay, tell the MD." MD would reduce dose. 1/3
Parents: "It's not doing anything" Me: "Okay, tell the MD." MD would increase dose. Parents: "He's sitting still longer and finishing 2/3

Adderall makes me boring af and I love it. My brain is normally a circus and it just kinda…rounds up all the animals into one tent.
ThisWasActuallyFunny
i describe mine as a slot machine and i try to aim for 3 "7s" BUT i always get three different fruits.

Same for me on the brain part. It makes me way more able to see a thing that needs done and just do it, instead of fighting myself for days

I have ADD. When I take meds I can focus 10% better. However I can ramble on about obscure scientific and historical facts 90% better.

My wife and I are having our wedding this October, but we were just married by a judge yesterday. I was laid off in November and we just had
our first baby. I’m going in to get treated for ADHD. I don’t have time to negotiate with my brain anymore. I hope it helps.
Good luck i hope it will help!
hydrophobicOtter
It's upsetting to think about how different my life would be now if they'd discovered my ADHD when I was a kid.
Gwenx
Im no expert on ADHD meds but I have taken my fair share of meds. Try out a differnt med and see how it effcts you, it might be better :)
Gaelisk
I recently got a therapists opinion and are now seeking a medical diagnoses. I'm hoping I can get help because right now I'm struggling
Educational therapist to be clear. University has exasperated the problem as the years have gone on, naturally. Fingers crossed
Good luck, it's difficult but things really do get better when you get the help you need.
NothingButGravy
Yeah...I'm a teacher, and I'm way more fun off my meds but then nothing gets done. I have to turn into a robot to have a good work ethic.
SomeDetroitGuy
Without it, my son has zero impulse control. Nothing at all. With it, he has all his same personality and creativity but can control himself
Jelly350
ADD is now called ADHD inattentive type. ADHD as a name does not cover the full scope of this condition.
unlogicspare
If adderall is killing your emotions, its the wrong drug, adderall should just make you able to focus, think, + minimize distractions.
If you feel it has a drastic change on your personality, that is not the intended effect, and you should tell your doctor.
Other ADD/ADHD treatments exist, it isn't just adderall, so don't be afraid to ask, being emotionless isn't supposed to happen.
MoogleMcGee
In NC here, I was forced to learn to do without anything after the adderall I was switched to gave me violent mood swings.
Chemicalbondage
There are other treatments, I found adderall/vyvanse turn the emotions off hard, but non-stimulant drugs are no way nearly effective enough.
dontmakemeanoptimist
Excuse ignorance here - but is it possible to find a balance on it? Where you don’t lose your spark, but can still function how you need?
It depends on the person the drug and the dosage, it's not an uncommon complaint but it's also not an issue for the majority The most 1/2
important part of the medication for me by far is the effects on emotion, for me it just makes it less out of control. 2/2
I'm on adderall, fortunately it works as needed; it increases attention span, gives more reliable work ethic, improves thinking coherence.
If you find it killing your personality or making you act wildly different in any negative way, talk to your doc about different options.
Rodltwo
I think it depends on the person. For me, yes. But my Mom used to call me a zombie if my dosage was adjusted wrong.
FiftyShadesOfMascarpone
People don't really lose their spark. They're just so used to heightened, uncontrollable emotions & rapid mood swings that being calm and...
focused feels boring in comparison. If you've been riding a roller coaster your entire life, a stroll in the park must seem painfully slow.
Same for bipolar or schizophrenic individuals who initially feel like zombies on neuroleptics. Of course normality feels dull compared to...
riding a hypomanic high that is not unlike a cocaine trip or being in a constant state of hypervigilance while your brain works overtime ...
to assign a deep meaning to trivial details and concoct the wildest conspiracy theories. Meds slow people down, allow them some much-needed…
freckledkink
Try different medicines. There are A LOT of them out there. My son finally got on one (funnily Adderall) that balances everything. He
Had been in others before. Vyvanse worked the same, but he needed a bigger dose (as he got bigger) and insurance wouldn't cover it. So we
Have had to try different things.
MandalorianHybrid1
It balanced them out. That's what it does to people like us and it's awful sometimes.
BenderBenderBender
It definitely is awful sometimes. But low functioning is worse (for me at least). I guess that’s the trade off for folks like us?
urboyevan2
Me too friend
Vikingtransgirl
Being on the wrong drugs or wrong dose is hell, for me I wasn't depressed but I wasn't anything else just a moodless thing existing
My Mom used to say I was a zombie my dosage was adjusted wrong. G
ILovedUnicornsFirst
That’s how I felt on anti-depressants after my mom died. I wasn’t sad. But I wasn’t happy either. I just wasn’t.
Anonymouse64
Can confirm. Been on meds for ADHD for nearly a year now, starting out I felt amazing, like I was a new man, now I feel Bilbo in LOTR.
Sort of stretched. Like butter scraped over too much bread. I feel tired all the time, but can hardly sleep.
Try a different medicine. There are so many different ones. Everyone is different and with each illness, different meds are available.
GrabHisDickAndTwistIt
Don't forget to take days off.
Days off the pills or just in general?
Days off the medication. I take mine 5 days a week- this works for me. I take days off when I haven't got much on. Allows me to nap freely.
Huh. I did take myself off them for a week at the start of March (cos of Current Events), but I thought you weren't supposed to stop dead?
AceOfShovels
That's what Adderall does, it's an amphetamine so you'll gradually need more of it to achieve the same effect just like meth. I got off it>
I'm not on Adderall, tho. On Lisdexamphetamine instead.
>after two years because it stopped working, elevated my heartrate, and I refused to up the dosage for fear of dependency. On Wellbutrin now
swordsnguns
I eventually refused to take it, it kinda stripped my empathy when I was on it
tastelessnessly
That’s why it was given to the Nazis during the blitzkrieg https://time.com/5752114/nazi-military-drugs/
That's weird, I discovered my empathy after I started on it. First day I nearly started crying in public because a stranger told a sad story
Fuck I hate shit like that. I get that too sometimes!
Have you tried a lower dose or non stimulant medication? They don't have the same effect on emotion
caerulakid
I had to stop taking adderal cause I got so damned sleepy on it I started just sleeping through work days ?
That happened to me - mid afternoon I’d crash so damn hard. XR version didn’t have a crash but also like wasn’t as effective. On Vyvanse now
Corrodias
Ritalin was useful in my younger years, but had side effects of being less "fun" and having no appetite. Food was not enjoyable.
I struggle with empathy. I swing between caring way too much or not at all. I’d prolly be a fucking nightmare if I took this then too!
Onsvaltti
Oh this sounds familiar. I'm atm at "I don't care about anyone" phase. I feel like a douche, even tho I act the same as before.
Taishosama
Sounds like me right now.
Phathongas
Damn this is me as well, someone close to me will die and i wont care but if i listen to a sad song im bawling my eyes out wtf
Oh my god I do this too. Fucked up level of weird
As somebody who is the same and has adhd medication, it has helped me a lot with my emotions, it's more likely to help than harm.
I’ve never been medicated for adhd. Guess I should be on them but I’ve been on so many things it’s nice to have a little break for a bit.
It's probably worth considering, most people with ADHD should be on the medication it's by far the most effective treatment for it.
BiologicallyHazardousMaterial
i like Strattera for this reason
Mrnerpderp
Strattera was awesome but I developed an allergic reaction to it. Massive Hives. looked like a red and white cow for a couple days.
Now I’ve got an image of a rad and white cow in my head. From far away it looks pink.
what do you use now
similar issues, tried Strattera, live it
caipirina
I just started that to switch off addy. Have you noticed different effects?
On the other hand Strattera gave me crippling depression. So did Concerta. Started Vyvanse last month, slowly started doing things again
That's why I quit after ~16 years. Made my already limited capacity for empathy worse. I had some lasting side effects from its use, too.
FrolickingFrolicking
limited capacity = can be increased through practice
Excitebike
What kind of side affects if you don’t mind me asking?
Just a long-lasting inability to enjoy things, since I stopped in ~2018. Even food, or sex. Wellbutrin helps a *lot* though.
I found similar from long term antidepressant use. I’m not on them anymore but still struggle to erm enjoy sex. And it makes me sad.
areyouelonmusk
Wellbutrin made sex feel good again, for me. Fucking anti anxiety meds ruin me.
dasklaus
You're supposed to fuck your partner (or hands, or toys), not your anti anxiety meds!
Sooo. What is Wellbutrin for exactly? Like, did you tell your doc you’re not enjoying sex or how did that work?
CosplayComet
If you're 'normal' Adderall is a MASSIVE upper and sends you bouncing off the walls. If you're neurodivergent, Adderall makes you.... normal
BigDaddysMeatWagon
Not really, it's a bit more complicated than that.
It is MUCH more complicated than that, but I only got 140 characters to work with, and I have seen it offer great help to some people I know
BatsArentBugs
Well, if it works. If you are ND and it ain’t right for your brain setup, boy howdy. Depressive episodes, violent outbursts, and more
Yeah, the problem with the brain is that we still know SO LITTLE about it. Adderall has worked wonders for SOME people I know.
100%!
ForTheLoveofFox
"normal" *
Yeah, it's a touchy word, and I was on the fence about using it, but I was trying to keep it under 140 characters...
AdmiralBananaSplitter1
Also makes people angry af. If this happens talk to your doctor and switch meds.
100%. Talk to your doctor even if it works GREAT for you. Medications like this are not something you should just dabble in.
Smoretank
It calms me down in that my brain is not going 100000x a sec. I still murder people with guinea pigs but it's more efficient to hide bodies.
See? It IS effective!
parttimeadult
When i was 6 I thought my Ritalin might make me a teenage mutant ninja turtle. But really it just let me finish my homework
Life is full of disappointment :P
kaitekarue
Its more like it hyper wires your ad/h/d tendency to hyperfocus. But. Essentially yes.
Smurge
It's a nootropic. It helps normal people focus too. Hospitals and colleges run on a coffee, and not because everyone has ADHD.
dobbythehouseelf
Adderall didn't do anything for me. It didn't help with my symptoms but it didn't really do anything negative either.
Yeah, it's not a cure-all. There are TONS of other medications on the market though, and unfortunately, a lot of times it's trial and error
TheIronSavior
This. You'd think I was on drugs if I didn't take my Adderall.
jhgaaafvvbuiewadbvvbjmiurs
This claim really highlights the general lack of understanding for medications. There are only a few types where amphetamines will do that
And on top of that, conc of drug, how it's metabolized, which form is active, how it's dist in the body... could go on and on
You are right, and in the future I'll be more specific. How does this hit you? If you have CERTAIN kinds of ND, Adderall COULD be beneficial
L1ota
Not normal at you're still high on amphetamines. These stimulants should not be prescribed for children.
gearsfan1549
OR people should get whatever MEDICINE they need to be and feel healthy. fuck if its an amphetamine, if it works it works.
HaikuSorrow
You aren't "high" in any way when you are correctly using your prescribed amphetamines for ADHD and sleep disorders.
Croatoan45
Are you antivax by any chance?
It still causes massive dopamine release and down regulation of associated receptors.
Also nice ad hominem. But no anti vax here. Now we going to have a discussion or trade insults.
snova595
25 years and counting
VagisilToothpaste
No wonder when I tried taking it recreationally in HS all I did was actually finish my schoolwork for the day. Still tired AF, but man...
couple years ago on vacation i was depressed and tired and didnt want to go to the beach at all, brother gave me an adderall and i basically
just "woke up" like the depression was kinda there (when isnt it) but i actually had energy to enjoy the day. difference was night and day
It is NOT for everyone... but the people it IS for can see massive benefits, so it shouldn't be discounted without consulting a doctor.
avalani
So I'm not diagnosed ADHD, but I have a personality disorder with problems of concentration. When I took it, I had more energy but I was...
Very focused on my job at work. Able to complete a lot. What does THAT mean?
I would check in with a real doctor. All I have is anecdotal evidence that it's helped several people I know focus and enjoy their lives.
I'm waiting for my psych test results. I'm actually on prescribed diet pills, similar in nature. Energy, but able to focus w/o being hyper.
Sounds like you're on the right track! I hope it works out great!!
Longbowgun
I was on 15mg XR (about 10MG too much) as an adult: it completely deleted my personality.
In the future, I'll be more careful in my wording. How's this: if you're neurodivergent in a very specific way, Adderall CAN help you.
redditmcredditface
yea, before people self medicate with it, talk to a professional to figure out dosages.
One HUNDRED percent. NEVER self medicate. ALWAYS seek professional guidance.
kodiak931155
Of your a very specific flavour of nerodevergent. Its VERY important to not use a blanket term like that when you need specificity.
Yeah, I agree with that. If it's right for you, it's right for you. Consult an actual doctor before taking ANY drug.
RearAdmiralObvious
My friend and I went a party whilst in college, and a guy was passing out ADHD patches. Everyone else trippy on em but we were just chillin
Both of us were like "Ah. Undiagnosed ADHD." Later got my own prescribed meds and it tried to give a heart attack. Fun.
yeah, not an IDEAL outcome... There are a lot of other meds available these days, though - and quite a few non-stimulant.
Point is make sure to take drugs from strangers kids! If they are offering, it's probably some half decent shit.
.....yes. That's exactly what I'm saying. Drugs are hard to come by, so take them when they're offered :)
RoodKontjeAapje
Err... I'm ND and it turned me into a zombie. With reduced need for sleep.
I realized since posting that I should have been MUCH more specific. if you're neurodivergent in a very specific way, Adderall COULD help.
LifesLittleLunatic
Yup. First time I had medication as an adult, I cried. My mind was quiet, calm and focused. I missed so much growing up
YouWonTheGam3
Words, phrases, and books have a lot more beauty in them for me now
Ilostmytowel
I cried too. Makes me wonder if I'm so introverted because it was so loud in my head ALL the time, because now it's almost too quiet.
That's the EXACT reaction I had in college. I took it and went to a math class. I just came home and wept.
All it did for me was make me less hungry.
I've heard that it is sometimes used as a weight-loss drug.
jasari
I'm neurodivergent Adderall made me angry at the slightest provocation.
IMainReinhardt
YMMV. I was put on them for ADHD and it caused psychosis. After being taken off basically everything improved
I feel like that fits any psychotropic. I know some people who think Adderall is shit and they'd never touch it. Some, it changed their life
TakeMyWorfPlease
Adderall makes my very hyperactive kid just toned down enough to not have his teacher call me everyday & him occasionally listen to me.
TheMadOnion
It just makes me tired I don't know why it just does
How does caffeine hit you? For the people that I know who are on Adderall, coffee or cola makes them tired.
Caffeine largely doesn't affect me at all anymore. But that's probably because I use so much of it I honestly couldn't say one way or /
Another, I've been drinking caffeine since the very unhealthy age of 5. Haha
SkamanSam
I am borderline. It does a little bit of both for me - makes me serious (more focused) and a bit hyper (like just a bit more coffee).
Omg, same, friend! BPD, and I got more energy, like a large coffee, but I was so focused on my work.
SidewalkWidflower
Couldn't it be used to help find who is?
I mean, it COULD... but that's a hell of a die to roll. Adderall is a controlled stimulant, and could VERY easily lead to bad results.
afsdpckapjadfkasef
I took some when I was younger made me bad shit crazy full out uncontrollable rage and anger just destroy my room throw things around, calm
Down, realize what I did, spend hours cleaning up, the pills just made it worse like I had no control over my brain they did tons of exercis
I had to carry dictionaries in my backpack and walk around the school everyday cause I had to much energy
Had a massive freakout, would be violent for very little reason and it got worse over a year or two then my mom said fuck y'all changed me
Inmate45
I never got diagnosed ADHD as a kid, but I then experienced this when I took speed - I was like... uhh... this is making me calmer guys?
Woestkonijn
It makes me calmer in my head but my body still wants to gooooooo
numonster
Tried it once, nearly fell asleep at the table. Coffee also conks me out?
Can be ADHD
Indeed. A pal of mine currently pursuing a ADHD diagnosis, they pointed out that 4 out of the 6 of us probably have it too.
I know someone who got diagnosed because they were listening to an ADHD diagnosis and kept saying, "Wait, I do that... and that.. and that."
pkspidermonkey
Huh...that rings a bell...
ThisIsWhyIMadeTheAccount
Tried MDMA and it made me super sleepy, then depleted my endorphins for the following week. I mean it was a *good* nap, but... damn

I had the same reaction to coke.
DragoWhooves
The D-word or the beverage?
I've tried it once only and it was like I was conducting a science experiment on those around me, i was super focused on each personality...
... taking mental notes and super observant. Still not sure if that's how one gets on it.
intothewilde
I'm fairly sure not all neurodivergents react this way to Adderall...
Yes. Some kids with ADHD get really irritated with stimulants and doesn't impact them in positive ways. Others really benefit. Everyone
The bigger point is: there are other neurodivergencies besides ADHD. That's the bigger issue bugging me
BreadGoneBad
I have ADHD and I gain energy from most medication. On no meds I'm mostly hypoactive, meaning I just lay around, being tired from my brain.
Yes and that is good but not all neurodivergencies are like ADHD and are not supposed to be treated with Adderall
This is correct. It's not a magic bullet, and it's not for everyone... but for those it IS for, it's like magic. Talk to a doctor.
Yes, of course, it is still appropriate treatment for some. But conflating ADHD, ADD, and many other neurodivergencies is just plain wrong.
alpacasaurusrex
I’m neurodivergent af. Life is… painful. Idk what adderall would do to me though, I’ve got afib. I just…. NEED to be normal. I’m tired of
needing to do 2-3 things at the same time to be able to focus at all and finish anything. It sucks. Then I can’t tell what’s undiagnosed
surelyoneoftheseusernamesisavailable
My friend was diagnosed with adhd recently at age 46. He’s on meds now and it’s changed his life, he’s very happy.
I’m 37. The more I’ve seen “signs you might have ADHD” vids on tiktok I’ve been like “fuck. This is me.” I asked my neuro the stuff that can
also be epilepsy signs & she said it sounds like it could be ADHD & when I can afford it she said she’d get me a ref & get me diagnosed 100%
ADHD disassociation or seizure/epilepsy disassociation. It’s the fucking worse. Fuck Covid for leaving me with epilepsy, brain fog, & other
shit.
I would NEVER tell a stranger to go start taking Adderall. What I WILL say is go talk to a doctor and see what IS going on in your head 1/
Look, you need to talk to a doctor. But I'll say it changed my life 15 years ago. I was 25 and in college and had been borderline flunking
While this is the stereotype, it's exaggerated. Although we respond differently to it than others, it has powerful reinforcing effects, too.
myotheraccgotsuspendedforpostingexplicitcontent
Cmon man just gimme a little bit to try!
BrazilianThunderPanda
For me it this isn’t an exaggerated scenario. I was having a hard time in college & my roommate gave me Adderall. She was bouncing off the >
Damn walls going from cleaning to exercising to studying. For me I it felt like the fog had lifted & everything was clear, like there was>>
A static around me I didn’t know existed. It was like that feeling you get after a massage, a relaxing serenity of calm.
IMayNotKnowWhatIAmTalkingAbout
I feel like a short order cook, no servers, just customers yelling their order. Adderall creates a server, and host, and a full kitchen staf
I've seen it in action - both ways. I know a couple of folks who'd take one before going out for the night to have a good time, 1/
and some who can't get through the day without it.

I've spent a lot of time suffering though a lifetime. I know it exists, but I'm scared to try it. to this day I am still on the fence.
I am NOT a doctor, and you should do what you feel is best for you. I can only relate that anecdotally it has helped several people I know.
Dpunch4
I use it as medication. It helps with emotional regulation. Not many folk realise how helpful that is for nuerodivergent people.
Inphiltration
Adhd meds changed my life my friend. I was on Adderall xr, but I've moved to vyvanse and that works best for me. I can actually thrive now
MyNewUsernameIsCrap
There are other drugs for this... Adderall has always worked best for me, but there are def other options
PrettyDouglas
Adderal isn't the only adhd treatment drug. Especially if you don't live in the US. I myself am on Atomoxetin
seamusmcfly
Man if you're suffering you should def give it a shot. I'm happier managing mine without meds, but there's no harm in trying and if you find
Fuckweasel
There are now nonstimulant ADD/ADHD drugs. Talk to your mental health care provider about options.
whiterabbit99
I was scared of taking anti depressants, lost years of my life and my business in doing so. If you don't like it you can stop taking it.
TRDirty
Trust me. It's worth it. The fog doesn't completely disappear, but at least for half the day.
ADDGirl
Why are you scared? If you don't like it, stop taking it. Adderall literally saved my job. I'd get fired without it.
For me Adderall made me feel very amped and the negative side effects were too much, Vyvanse, however, makes me feel focused and normal. 5/7
dangermess
Same here on the Adderall, I'm trying Ritalin now and it's meh,I don't feel like it's doing much. I hope Vyvanse works for me!
I’ve been through various doses of adderall, strattera, & Concerta. Vyvanse is best balance so far. Not perfect, but I cleaned the kitchen
PikaMouse
Vyvanse has saved my sanity, school grades, and kitchen. When I forget my Vyvanse, my life is the 90's AOL Dial-up tone on repeat.
The 5/7 there might be the funniest/most ADHD thing ever (and I saw your Hobby post earlier, forgot to +1, so you get one here, too)
MichaeIScott
My brother has ADD but got severely addicted to it, had to leave his law firm to take time and ween off. Scary stuff.
AstronautChicken
Adderall makes me focused and happy and capable of completing many tasks in an order that makes sense, but fuck sleeping.
HollyRex
Same. No bouncing off walls, it calmed my anxiety and I got my Masters Thesis done. Made me believe in myself, which was nice. Didn’t sleep
for 2 days after, but for a while it was really nice to be able to focus. My bro has ADHD, I’ve only been diagnosed with GAD (anxiety).
But from some research I’ve done, it seems girls present with ADHD differently than guys, so maybe misdiagnosed? Who knows.
Also don’t forget forgetting to eat literally all day then getting a dehydration headache at 3pm ?
How can I? There's a headache to remind me!
jackpkmn
I don't take Adderall but i take Buspirone for me ADD, it feels like wiping the fog off the inside of my brain, like i couldn't see before.
yeahIbreedtreelizards
Buspar for ADHD? Sure it's not buproprion/Wellbutrin? Anxiety is a component of some ADHD, so I can see it helping in some cases.
Maybe i got it backwards, i take Buspirone and Amantadine i can't remember which is which for which.
Amantadine, but anything for anxiety, like buspar, might be helpful if the ADHD is due to anxiety. Much better initial choice than->
I haven't heard of that one before, but there are SO many meds out there it's impossible to keep track. Glad you found something that helps!
LetumComplexo
It depends on the symptom presentation but if you never have to expend energy to do a thing because the ADHD does it for you then when the
I'm like 9 months into medicated adhd, and this explains so much. My drive and ambition has skyrocketed though, so a good trade-off.
Oh absolutely. It won’t be for everyone but for my it improved my quality of life dramatically.
symptoms are controlled you no longer have that driving force and can have trouble remembering to do the things that are “normal” for you.
For example, checking mirrors while driving. It took me a week to ER-learn to do that because before it always just… happened on its own.
laiskamato
Well fuck. Googling away I go!
Thank fuck, I'm not alone. It's like ADHD meds shut down my auto-run features and I've been having to reprogram my brain.
Holy fuck... I never attributed that automatically checking the mirrors every 5 seconds was part of my adhd. That makes so much more sense.
I do not recommend Adderall as a fix-it for everyone. I've seen it work wonders for SOME people, and I've seen it do nothing for others.
Valkor
if by "normal" we mean "forced to hyperfocus all fucking day and it's so goddamn exhausting i tell ya hwat". sure.
Hyperfocus is a feature of ADHD. If you're STILL hyperfocusing while on Adderall, might want to talk to your doctor about that.
Hyperfocus is what many of us have when we're NOT medicated. We just can't control what we hyperfocus on. "Normal" means able to focus, but
not forced. Still get distracted, but it's not a compulsion. Can get things done or be lazy, not yanked to one or the other.
dextarrogue
This makes me think maybe I need to be off my antidepressants and try out ADHD meds again.
theangryjanitor
I've always thought that all these mental disorders didn't need drugs. We need to live right. Companies need us on drugs.
There is some truth to this. When I stopped forcing myself to work 9-5 with a complete career change, I tripled my success.
yeah, having the right manual is more important. that way we can exploit ourselves properly instead of letting a company do it.
I mean... I went from throwing chairs and suitcases at walls and people to reasonably stable and happy (most of the time). But you do you.
JohnSatclaire
Go find a fire. Stay in it until you cease moving and the smoke inhalation wins.
Are you an adult? Jesus

Gtfo. Move to Rusk, Vlad.
ColonelColon
Yeah bro we should all go back to drinking willow bark tea instead of using these dang ibuprofens
FishieStardust
Oof, you got downvoted hard. I would say that medication can be right for some people, and separately that corps want people addicted

bnm12
More time on tests can actually be a bad thing for ADHD due to it removing pressure which is often a motivating factor

Adderall turned me into a massive asshole, they switched me to Vyvanse and upped the dosage. Seems to be working a lot better but the 1/

Genetic thing. Im supposed to only take Vyvanse but still stuck on ritalin. Ritalin is toxic to my liver but I have no choice.
I talked to a doctor who told me with all the medical advances we've made, we still know VERY little about how the brain works. That's 1/
why there are SO MANY different types of psychotropics out there and why some work for people and some don't. We're basically fumbling 2/
Price tag on it is fucking brutal even with insurance. Without it it's 426 bucks.
st9man
They put me on concerta which was like 2 hundred when I was dead broke college student. Now I get generic Ritalin 180 pills, 10mg for $30.
When I was on adderall it was $10 for 30 pills but this Vyvanse is $100 with insurance for 30 pills. Thankfully someone gave me that coupon
That's on the cheaper end too. I looked up the price since it's not a contracted item. $899. There's other alternatives too.
Liwithekaleontherocks
Horrifying price tags...
Ruderali
Have you considered [redacted] your politicians until healthcare gets paid for by your taxes?
mobilekeptcrashing
There’s a manufacturer coupon on their website. It might lower the price even with insurance. I pay $30
MadamPuddifoot
Good news! My psychiatrist told me the generic version is supposed to come out at the end of May!
LordTurtle
Over the counter and easy to get or still needing doctor prescription
It's an amphetamine. With abuse potential. Rx.
kendie2
Sadly, Vyvanse is not scheduled to be available generically until Feb. 2023. This is according a summary judgment that upheld the patent.
Interesting. My psychiatrist told me that last week. Hmm.
dmoffett1027
Coupon code https://www.vyvanse.com/coupon works in the USA. I pay $30 a refill.
Thank you so much! Already printed it out
Save a copy, you can use it every refill.
I've been on it for 8 years and for the first time it was free (all I had to do was lose my job, live in poverty, and sign up for Medicaid)
I had good insurance before but it still didn't pay for everything like Medicaid has. Teeth, however, are luxury bones.
Tallmf0
Maybe it's just my state, but after I got on Medicaid I also got MCNA. Essentially medicaid for dental work.4 cleanings a yr they fixed 2 te
I've been there before man, that Medicaid is awesome but then luxury bones though. It'll get better though dude

Yeah, people don't seem to understand that untreated ADHD can be seriously debilitating. It's not just, "Oh look, a butterfly."
ChaoticGoodTransGirl
It makes every single day a living hell, personally. Not surprising we are 6x more likely to kill ourselves
CatchySensibleName
So many people get upset because they have to keep repeating themselves for me. 30 seconds and my mind is on another tangent.
CatchySensibleName
Prior to treatment I had never held a job longer than a year. I'm now on year 13 at my first job since medication.
hotrodny
Is it because jobs become boring and uningeresting after a while?
ChaoticGoodTransGirl
Understimulation can be painful for people with adhd
CatchySensibleName
That's a big factor. I also irritate my bosses because I can't pay attention to instructions/explanations for longer than 30 seconds.
riplikash
Even things you love can become boring and uninteresting, or at least have parts that are boring and uninteresting.
CatchySensibleName
Within 30 seconds people usually say something that sends my brain on a tangent. Then they have to repeat themselves over and over.
hotrodny
Tell me about it. I can't stand my hobbies anymore. Doctor seems to think it is depression.
Theraininspaindrainsmainlydownthemainvein
I think you need to experience both sides of the coin, i used to be on Ritalin and it did help me focus but now that I'm off it i can see
Theraininspaindrainsmainlydownthemainvein
how flat i felt while i was taking it. My ADHD isn't too bad though and I've learned to deal with it on my own so i can't speak for everyone
riplikash
Ritalin had that effect on me but then Adderall didn't. Different drugs effect people differently. Also some people can cope differently.
riplikash
I mean...adderall really might help with that.

ADD is now called ADHD inattentive type. ADHD as a name does not cover the full scope of this condition.
unlogicspare
If adderall is killing your emotions, its the wrong drug, adderall should just make you able to focus, think, + minimize distractions.
unlogicspare
If you feel it has a drastic change on your personality, that is not the intended effect, and you should tell your doctor.
unlogicspare
Other ADD/ADHD treatments exist, it isn't just adderall, so don't be afraid to ask, being emotionless isn't supposed to happen.
MoogleMcGee
In NC here, I was forced to learn to do without anything after the adderall I was switched to gave me violent mood swings.
Chemicalbondage
There are other treatments, I found adderall/vyvanse turn the emotions off hard, but non-stimulant drugs are no way nearly effective enough.
dontmakemeanoptimist
Excuse ignorance here - but is it possible to find a balance on it? Where you don’t lose your spark, but can still function how you need?
ryanjoseph666
It depends on the person the drug and the dosage, it's not an uncommon complaint but it's also not an issue for the majority The most 1/2
ryanjoseph666
important part of the medication for me by far is the effects on emotion, for me it just makes it less out of control. 2/2
unlogicspare
I'm on adderall, fortunately it works as needed; it increases attention span, gives more reliable work ethic, improves thinking coherence.
unlogicspare
If you find it killing your personality or making you act wildly different in any negative way, talk to your doc about different options.

It's probably worth considering, most people with ADHD should be on the medication it's by far the most effective treatment for it.

FrolickingFrolicking
limited capacity = can be increased through practice
Excitebike
What kind of side affects if you don’t mind me asking?
Arcygenical
Just a long-lasting inability to enjoy things, since I stopped in ~2018. Even food, or sex. Wellbutrin helps a *lot* though.
whataluckygoldfish
I found similar from long term antidepressant use. I’m not on them anymore but still struggle to erm enjoy sex. And it makes me sad.
areyouelonmusk
Wellbutrin made sex feel good again, for me. Fucking anti anxiety meds ruin me.
dasklaus

Yeah, the problem with the brain is that we still know SO LITTLE about it. Adderall has worked wonders for SOME people I know.
BatsArentBugs
100%!
ForTheLoveofFox
"normal" *
CosplayComet
Yeah, it's a touchy word, and I was on the fence about using it, but I was trying to keep it under 140 characters...
AdmiralBananaSplitter1
Also makes people angry af. If this happens talk to your doctor and switch meds.
CosplayComet
100%. Talk to your doctor even if it works GREAT for you. Medications like this are not something you should just dabble in.
Smoretank
It calms me down in that my brain is not going 100000x a sec. I still murder people with guinea pigs but it's more efficient to hide bodies.
CosplayComet
See? It IS effective!
parttimeadult
When i was 6 I thought my Ritalin might make me a teenage mutant ninja turtle. But really it just let me finish my homework
CosplayComet
Life is full of disappointment :P
kaitekarue
Its more like it hyper wires your ad/h/d tendency to hyperfocus. But. Essentially yes.
Smurge
It's a nootropic. It helps normal people focus too. Hospitals and colleges run on a coffee, and not because everyone has ADHD.
dobbythehouseelf
Adderall didn't do anything for me. It didn't help with my symptoms but it didn't really do anything negative either.
CosplayComet
Yeah, it's not a cure-all. There are TONS of other medications on the market though, and unfortunately, a lot of times it's trial and error
TheIronSavior
This. You'd think I was on drugs if I didn't take my Adderall.
jhgaaafvvbuiewadbvvbjmiurs
This claim really highlights the general lack of understanding for medications. There are only a few types where amphetamines will do that
jhgaaafvvbuiewadbvvbjmiurs
And on top of that, conc of drug, how it's metabolized, which form is active, how it's dist in the body... could go on and on
CosplayComet
L1ota
It still causes massive dopamine release and down regulation of associated receptors.
L1ota
Also nice ad hominem. But no anti vax here. Now we going to have a discussion or trade insults.
snova595
25 years and counting
VagisilToothpaste
No wonder when I tried taking it recreationally in HS all I did was actually finish my schoolwork for the day. Still tired AF, but man...
gearsfan1549
couple years ago on vacation i was depressed and tired and didnt want to go to the beach at all, brother gave me an adderall and i basically
gearsfan1549
just "woke up" like the depression was kinda there (when isnt it) but i actually had energy to enjoy the day. difference was night and day
CosplayComet
It is NOT for everyone... but the people it IS for can see massive benefits, so it shouldn't be discounted without consulting a doctor.
avalani
So I'm not diagnosed ADHD, but I have a personality disorder with problems of concentration. When I took it, I had more energy but I was...
avalani
Very focused on my job at work. Able to complete a lot. What does THAT mean?
CosplayComet
I would check in with a real doctor. All I have is anecdotal evidence that it's helped several people I know focus and enjoy their lives.
avalani
I'm waiting for my psych test results. I'm actually on prescribed diet pills, similar in nature. Energy, but able to focus w/o being hyper.
CosplayComet
Sounds like you're on the right track! I hope it works out great!!
Longbowgun
I was on 15mg XR (about 10MG too much) as an adult: it completely deleted my personality.
CosplayComet
In the future, I'll be more careful in my wording. How's this: if you're neurodivergent in a very specific way, Adderall CAN help you.
redditmcredditface
yea, before people self medicate with it, talk to a professional to figure out dosages.
CosplayComet
One HUNDRED percent. NEVER self medicate. ALWAYS seek professional guidance.
kodiak931155
Of your a very specific flavour of nerodevergent. Its VERY important to not use a blanket term like that when you need specificity.
CosplayComet
Yeah, I agree with that. If it's right for you, it's right for you. Consult an actual doctor before taking ANY drug.
RearAdmiralObvious
My friend and I went a party whilst in college, and a guy was passing out ADHD patches. Everyone else trippy on em but we were just chillin
RearAdmiralObvious
Both of us were like "Ah. Undiagnosed ADHD." Later got my own prescribed meds and it tried to give a heart attack. Fun.
CosplayComet
yeah, not an IDEAL outcome... There are a lot of other meds available these days, though - and quite a few non-stimulant.
RearAdmiralObvious
Point is make sure to take drugs from strangers kids! If they are offering, it's probably some half decent shit.
CosplayComet
.....yes. That's exactly what I'm saying. Drugs are hard to come by, so take them when they're offered :)
RoodKontjeAapje
Err... I'm ND and it turned me into a zombie. With reduced need for sleep.
CosplayComet
I realized since posting that I should have been MUCH more specific. if you're neurodivergent in a very specific way, Adderall COULD help.
LifesLittleLunatic
Yup. First time I had medication as an adult, I cried. My mind was quiet, calm and focused. I missed so much growing up
YouWonTheGam3
Words, phrases, and books have a lot more beauty in them for me now
Ilostmytowel
I cried too. Makes me wonder if I'm so introverted because it was so loud in my head ALL the time, because now it's almost too quiet.
riplikash
That's the EXACT reaction I had in college. I took it and went to a math class. I just came home and wept.
smashpro1
All it did for me was make me less hungry.
CosplayComet
I've heard that it is sometimes used as a weight-loss drug.
jasari
I'm neurodivergent Adderall made me angry at the slightest provocation.
IMainReinhardt
YMMV. I was put on them for ADHD and it caused psychosis. After being taken off basically everything improved
CosplayComet
I feel like that fits any psychotropic. I know some people who think Adderall is shit and they'd never touch it. Some, it changed their life
TakeMyWorfPlease
Adderall makes my very hyperactive kid just toned down enough to not have his teacher call me everyday & him occasionally listen to me.
TheMadOnion
It just makes me tired I don't know why it just does
CosplayComet
How does caffeine hit you? For the people that I know who are on Adderall, coffee or cola makes them tired.
TheMadOnion
Caffeine largely doesn't affect me at all anymore. But that's probably because I use so much of it I honestly couldn't say one way or /
TheMadOnion
Another, I've been drinking caffeine since the very unhealthy age of 5. Haha
SkamanSam
I am borderline. It does a little bit of both for me - makes me serious (more focused) and a bit hyper (like just a bit more coffee).
avalani
Omg, same, friend! BPD, and I got more energy, like a large coffee, but I was so focused on my work.
SidewalkWidflower
Couldn't it be used to help find who is?
CosplayComet
I mean, it COULD... but that's a hell of a die to roll. Adderall is a controlled stimulant, and could VERY easily lead to bad results.
afsdpckapjadfkasef
I took some when I was younger made me bad shit crazy full out uncontrollable rage and anger just destroy my room throw things around, calm
afsdpckapjadfkasef
Down, realize what I did, spend hours cleaning up, the pills just made it worse like I had no control over my brain they did tons of exercis
afsdpckapjadfkasef
I had to carry dictionaries in my backpack and walk around the school everyday cause I had to much energy
afsdpckapjadfkasef
Had a massive freakout, would be violent for very little reason and it got worse over a year or two then my mom said fuck y'all changed me
Inmate45
I never got diagnosed ADHD as a kid, but I then experienced this when I took speed - I was like... uhh... this is making me calmer guys?
Woestkonijn
It makes me calmer in my head but my body still wants to gooooooo
numonster
Tried it once, nearly fell asleep at the table. Coffee also conks me out?
Karukos
Can be ADHD
numonster
Indeed. A pal of mine currently pursuing a ADHD diagnosis, they pointed out that 4 out of the 6 of us probably have it too.
CosplayComet
I know someone who got diagnosed because they were listening to an ADHD diagnosis and kept saying, "Wait, I do that... and that.. and that."
pkspidermonkey
Huh...that rings a bell...
ThisIsWhyIMadeTheAccount
Tried MDMA and it made me super sleepy, then depleted my endorphins for the following week. I mean it was a *good* nap, but... damn
fleekinggroovy
I had the same reaction to coke.
DragoWhooves
The D-word or the beverage?
SidewalkWidflower
I've tried it once only and it was like I was conducting a science experiment on those around me, i was super focused on each personality...
SidewalkWidflower
... taking mental notes and super observant. Still not sure if that's how one gets on it.
intothewilde
I'm fairly sure not all neurodivergents react this way to Adderall...
Jelly350
Yes. Some kids with ADHD get really irritated with stimulants and doesn't impact them in positive ways. Others really benefit. Everyone
intothewilde
The bigger point is: there are other neurodivergencies besides ADHD. That's the bigger issue bugging me
BreadGoneBad
I have ADHD and I gain energy from most medication. On no meds I'm mostly hypoactive, meaning I just lay around, being tired from my brain.
intothewilde
Yes and that is good but not all neurodivergencies are like ADHD and are not supposed to be treated with Adderall
CosplayComet
This is correct. It's not a magic bullet, and it's not for everyone... but for those it IS for, it's like magic. Talk to a doctor.
intothewilde
Yes, of course, it is still appropriate treatment for some. But conflating ADHD, ADD, and many other neurodivergencies is just plain wrong.
alpacasaurusrex
I’m neurodivergent af. Life is… painful. Idk what adderall would do to me though, I’ve got afib. I just…. NEED to be normal. I’m tired of
alpacasaurusrex
needing to do 2-3 things at the same time to be able to focus at all and finish anything. It sucks. Then I can’t tell what’s undiagnosed
surelyoneoftheseusernamesisavailable
My friend was diagnosed with adhd recently at age 46. He’s on meds now and it’s changed his life, he’s very happy.
alpacasaurusrex
I’m 37. The more I’ve seen “signs you might have ADHD” vids on tiktok I’ve been like “fuck. This is me.” I asked my neuro the stuff that can

alpacasaurusrex
ADHD disassociation or seizure/epilepsy disassociation. It’s the fucking worse. Fuck Covid for leaving me with epilepsy, brain fog, & other

shit.
CosplayComet
I would NEVER tell a stranger to go start taking Adderall. What I WILL say is go talk to a doctor and see what IS going on in your head 1/
riplikash
Look, you need to talk to a doctor. But I'll say it changed my life 15 years ago. I was 25 and in college and had been borderline flunking
Arcygenical
While this is the stereotype, it's exaggerated. Although we respond differently to it than others, it has powerful reinforcing effects, too.
myotheraccgotsuspendedforpostingexplicitcontent
Cmon man just gimme a little bit to try!
BrazilianThunderPanda
For me it this isn’t an exaggerated scenario. I was having a hard time in college & my roommate gave me Adderall. She was bouncing off the >

BrazilianThunderPanda
A static around me I didn’t know existed. It was like that feeling you get after a massage, a relaxing serenity of calm.
IMayNotKnowWhatIAmTalkingAbout
I feel like a short order cook, no servers, just customers yelling their order. Adderall creates a server, and host, and a full kitchen staf
CosplayComet
I've seen it in action - both ways. I know a couple of folks who'd take one before going out for the night to have a good time, 1/
CosplayComet
and some who can't get through the day without it.
Imustntrunaway
I've spent a lot of time suffering though a lifetime. I know it exists, but I'm scared to try it. to this day I am still on the fence.
CosplayComet
LANAAAAAAAAAA
For me Adderall made me feel very amped and the negative side effects were too much, Vyvanse, however, makes me feel focused and normal. 5/7
dangermess
Same here on the Adderall, I'm trying Ritalin now and it's meh,I don't feel like it's doing much. I hope Vyvanse works for me!
hekati
I’ve been through various doses of adderall, strattera, & Concerta. Vyvanse is best balance so far. Not perfect, but I cleaned the kitchen
PikaMouse
Vyvanse has saved my sanity, school grades, and kitchen. When I forget my Vyvanse, my life is the 90's AOL Dial-up tone on repeat.
Arcygenical
HollyRex
for 2 days after, but for a while it was really nice to be able to focus. My bro has ADHD, I’ve only been diagnosed with GAD (anxiety).
HollyRex
But from some research I’ve done, it seems girls present with ADHD differently than guys, so maybe misdiagnosed? Who knows.
hekati
Also don’t forget forgetting to eat literally all day then getting a dehydration headache at 3pm ?
AstronautChicken
Anxiety is a component of some ADHD, so I can see it helping in some cases.
jackpkmn
Maybe i got it backwards, i take Buspirone and Amantadine i can't remember which is which for which.
yeahIbreedtreelizards
Amantadine, but anything for anxiety, like buspar, might be helpful if the ADHD is due to anxiety. Much better initial choice than->
CosplayComet
I haven't heard of that one before, but there are SO many meds out there it's impossible to keep track. Glad you found something that helps!
LetumComplexo
It depends on the symptom presentation but if you never have to expend energy to do a thing because the ADHD does it for you then when the
RailRabbit
I'm like 9 months into medicated adhd, and this explains so much. My drive and ambition has skyrocketed though, so a good trade-off.
LetumComplexo
Oh absolutely. It won’t be for everyone but for my it improved my quality of life dramatically.
LetumComplexo
symptoms are controlled you no longer have that driving force and can have trouble remembering to do the things that are “normal” for you.
LetumComplexo
For example, checking mirrors while driving. It took me a week to ER-learn to do that because before it always just… happened on its own.
laiskamato
Well fuck. Googling away I go!
Ilostmytowel
Thank fuck, I'm not alone. It's like ADHD meds shut down my auto-run features and I've been having to reprogram my brain.
IMayNotKnowWhatIAmTalkingAbout
Holy fuck... I never attributed that automatically checking the mirrors every 5 seconds was part of my adhd. That makes so much more sense.
CosplayComet
I do not recommend Adderall as a fix-it for everyone. I've seen it work wonders for SOME people, and I've seen it do nothing for others.
Valkor
if by "normal" we mean "forced to hyperfocus all fucking day and it's so goddamn exhausting i tell ya hwat". sure.
CosplayComet
Hyperfocus is a feature of ADHD. If you're STILL hyperfocusing while on Adderall, might want to talk to your doctor about that.
riplikash
Hyperfocus is what many of us have when we're NOT medicated. We just can't control what we hyperfocus on. "Normal" means able to focus, but
riplikash
Arcygenical
There is some truth to this. When I stopped forcing myself to work 9-5 with a complete career change, I tripled my success.
Valkor
yeah, having the right manual is more important. that way we can exploit ourselves properly instead of letting a company do it.
Inmate45
I mean... I went from throwing chairs and suitcases at walls and people to reasonably stable and happy (most of the time). But you do you.
JohnSatclaire
Go find a fire. Stay in it until you cease moving and the smoke inhalation wins.
theangryjanitor
Are you an adult? Jesus

Think of me as whatever is most likely to make you follow the above instructions.
alpacasaurusrex
Gtfo. Move to Rusk, Vlad.
ColonelColon
Yeah bro we should all go back to drinking willow bark tea instead of using these dang ibuprofens
FishieStardust
Oof, you got downvoted hard. I would say that medication can be right for some people, and separately that corps want people addicted
theangryjanitor
I don't care at all. People will take whatever they want and ignore the rest at their pleasure

More time on tests can actually be a bad thing for ADHD due to it removing pressure which is often a motivating factor

They put me on concerta which was like 2 hundred when I was dead broke college student. Now I get generic Ritalin 180 pills, 10mg for $30.
RaftinHippy
When I was on adderall it was $10 for 30 pills but this Vyvanse is $100 with insurance for 30 pills. Thankfully someone gave me that coupon
AdmiralBananaSplitter1
That's on the cheaper end too. I looked up the price since it's not a contracted item. $899. There's other alternatives too.

LordTurtle
Over the counter and easy to get or still needing doctor prescription
Arcygenical
It's an amphetamine. With abuse potential. Rx.
kendie2
Sadly, Vyvanse is not scheduled to be available generically until Feb. 2023. This is according a summary judgment that upheld the patent.
MadamPuddifoot
Interesting. My psychiatrist told me that last week. Hmm.
