At some point is the invention of Golf the water traps and sand traps were not man-made creations. It was just easier to write rules including them instead of removing them or finding a flatter pasture. They mowed the lawn immediately around the start point and the target and that's it.
Was in Scotland last week and this was all I could hear each time I drove past a golf course. I seriously miss this man more than many of my family members.
Oh now there’s a discussion that goes back to the 80s and 90s… Not gonna get into it, but it’s worth a google to see how the scottish and dutch ‘fought’ over starter’s rights hahaha
The Golf course in loenen is the only one called "the old course" that hasn't been in operation since forever and a half ago, it is so named with the blessing of the golf authorities because it was invented there (this is all sourced from my parents who are members in good standing there since it was reopened in the 2010sish)
Mine was John Lennon. I was ten, and had “discovered” The Beatles when I was seven. Was utterly obsessed with them. I still had hope they might get back together someday.
And the Luge! What drunken German gynecologist thought that one up!? “I want to dress like a sperm, shove an ice skate in my ass, and go balls first down an ice chute. Yah. Dat will be fun!”

God, what a treasure we lost...
beachbum273
But what treasures he gave us while he was here!

I mourn the loss of Robin Williams the way you mourn the loss of a close friend. The whole world became a bit less happy when we lost him.
sarahsaurroar
He was the only celebrity I actually cried over when I heard of his death.

My guess is that it started with regular sledding and then they kept thinking of ways to make it go faster.
