January 6 political prisoner‽ That tells me *everything* I need to know about this human shart. The sign in the photo is helpful additional context though.
Like, he's gotta have some "getting beat up by folks" fetish. He goes looking for trouble, finds it, and then cries like a man child when the consequences of his actions break a bottle over his head.
The same whiny pissbaby Jake Lang that (extremely poorly) attacked a sculpture stating "Prosecute ICE" because he does not, in fact, believe in free speech, only fascist speech?
He was literally trying to foment violence. His entire plan was to go there, get attacked, then try to claim victimhood and portray his attackers as intellectually inferior.
Fun historical fact, back before the Nazi party's rise, their supporters would go and pick fights with the Communists.
Afterwards, they'd get the media to report on how the violent communists started yet another riot that the police were unable to quell, to which forced their brave paramilitary forces to step in. This gradually turned public opinion away from the communists as well as the impotent state, and towards the heros protecting public decency.
Unfortunately, we also got social media and algorithms designed to boost edited footage that makes folks like Lang look like victims instead of instigators, because the folks that own said social media and algos benefit from the policies that Lang and his cohorts vote for.
It's not quite on the level of the sign that McClane had to wear for a trip to Harlem in Die Hard 3, but it's still not exactly a sign of the great intellect of the "superior white race" to do this one either..
I remember when the only people who did that shit were those homophobic church assholes from Kansas and the whole country hated them. Now it's a fucking industry. Ugh...
Holding up a clearly racist sign attacking all Black people and standing outside an event celebrating Black entertainment and then acting like a victim when people rightly see those as fighting words is hilarious.
Getting attacked and playing victim was his plan the entire time. He did deserve it yes, but they also gave him exactly what he wanted. His supporters will just use this as fuel. Any decent person though will see how he got off easy that he's still able to type a tweet out
I strongly support free speech (and strongly disagree with punching anyone— even Nazis-over a political disagreement ). But I think there is a good reason why there is a ‘fighting words’ exception to first amendment and it appears that’s what’s going on here.
The US right-wing has pushed the basic survival of many people to be "political issues" so they can say "you can't call everyone you disagree with Nazis, silencing people for political views is wrong!". We can disagree with on a lot of things and still respect each other, but if your "political beliefs" include imprisoning my friends and family just for existing, or you continue to support those who want those things after I explained why its bad, then obviously violence is the only option left
Freedom of speech is not freedom of speech without consequence. You're watching a consequence. A group of people willing to assault someone over a clearly dehumanizing statement. It may as well have read "black people should not exist"
You can't have a political disagreement with Nazis, their platform is apolitical; human rights are not a political issue. If your only disagreement with Nazis is political, you are one. If a group wants to harm innocents then they must be eradicated from a society by force, as a group that wishes to destroy civil society cannot be let to be a part of it, as by tolerance you will ensure they succeed in doing so. Espousing those beliefs in open daylight should be a death sentence.
Except, in their case it was objectively lies, and in this case it is objective truth. Just because Nazis did it, doesn't make it objectively bad, and it's a fucking tired conflation at this point and has never done anything but to serve and advance the march of fascism. Actions taken against innocent people is fundamentally different than actions taken against the ones trying to harm innocent people, on real, moral, and ethical levels all.
I really only think violence is justified as a direct matter of personal defense or perhaps in defense of someone else's life. That said way too many people I'm seeing in public lately just being fucking horrible in whatever while everyone sits around quietly and lets it go on, I'm starting to bend a little on what has been a very steadfast position on violence I've held my entire life. These people know what they are doing, if they want to be punched in the face so bad....
"Violence begets violence" isn't the saying you think it is. That saying exists only to demonize RIGHTEOUS violence and legitimize the state's use of violence against people. It's in the same stripe as "violence is never the answer"; to some things, violence is the ONLY appropriate answer, and most of the things the republican party are doing fit the bill. Disagreements about human rights are not "political", it is a fundamental divide about the nature of society and they CANNOT coexist.
I just... it seems the whole species is wired to self destruct as technology allows fewer to do more I kind of actually worry about it on that scale. The number of bad actors required to fuck us all just keeps becoming fewer... you can't wipe it out not entirely, not ever.

Why the fuck is he even allowed out of jail. He's got pending charges and one of the conditions for release was not doing shit like this.

Fascists only understand the language of violence, so if you want to discuss things, you have to use their language.

The same Jake Lang, 31, who got caught in a sting 3 months ago messaging with someone pretending to be a 15 yo girl?

Yes. In my country (France) racist statements are not covered under the "free speech" false arguments. Racism is a crime, not an opinion.

Ah my bad. Surely letting people who possess the “objective truth” kill their evil enemies at will is the path to justice.

There is nothing you can do to a nazi that can't be justified with self defense. Their organization exists to oppress and exterminate human beings.
DragonThunderUndertaking
Violence begets violence, I suppose the thing that I really am is just, disappointed. In a way I didn't even know was possible for me.

Being a nazi is already a promise to do violence. Nonviolent options don't work on them.
