You can't tell me he isn't morphing into these birds to make the sounds - he's just maintaining his outward shape while shifting internally. That's why the little headshake after each call as he morphs back into human form. Soon he'll be able to take full bird form and fly away.
Almost certainly has mild Tourettes. I worked with a guy with tiny facial ticks like that. You get to know the 3 or 4 big ones pretty quickly because you see them a lot.
Yeah, I don't know much about it, but after you said that I went back and watched and he definitely has a number of little minor ticks. The only thing I can think of is I hope beyond hope that he has friends and isn't bullied.
oh thats doable with a technique called loosening their tongue or something. where corvids can mimic human speach. its super impressive and super spooky. imagine walking through a forest and theres a voice saying "this way" in an almost human voice... spooky
Don't ever "loosen" a bird's tongue. Birds that can mimic human speech don't ever need that, they can already talk without it. It's just needless mutilation

First the American crow blew my mind. But the purple marten… does he just have a bluetooth speaker in his throat?!

I thought it was that the samples were stored on something like bingo balls and they had to rattle the next one into the tube.

Sort of like an old telephone exchange as you dial a phone number, rotating the selectors to the right circuit. https://youtube.com/shorts/Vcdp52F4Nt8
