I watch these BBC documentaries for hours and hours about some tiny king of England or a civilization in Europe, There is no equvilant documentary about the citiy that was in St Louis, or the Fort in Cincinnati, the serpant mound, etc. I want some people walking across a field talking about the line of royalty that was in the north American and south american continents.

Your math isn't wrong, but this isn't really a good representation of the facts - Spain's control of the americas didn't end when the declaration of Independence was adopted in 1776. They were still fucking around on the West Coast and elsewhere until 1820 or something, before there were states over here. So it's longer than 283 years, closer to 327 (assuming I've got my dates right).
And I'm sure someone who actually knows history could add further context.

The math is wrong. Everything about this is wrong. This assumes Spain magically disappeared out of the Americas the instant the US declared independence. Mexico didn't become a country until 1821. Cuba and Puerto Rico weren't free of Spanish control until 1898.
It's 1898-1493, or 405 years of Spanish colonialism. Spain abusing natives here goes back to Columbus' first trip in 1492.

Well the math IS correct. 1776-1493 IS 283. And 283 is > 250. But the reason to use those #s is certainly very incorrect.
And that's exactly my point, Spain didn't disappear entirely from what we consider today to be the US border the moment we signed the declaration of Independence. They were still around fuckin shit up for quite a while longer.

More like did the same elsewhere. Loosely speaking, on Turtle Island the French were in the North (New France, now Quebec and surrounds), England and Denmark were in the middle ish to the East coast, moving South, more French (the eventual Louisiana purchase) then Spain into the Caribbean. Portugal and Spain fought it out for Amazonia.

The issue is a matter of scale, not simply time. The American push West outpaced the European destruction the preceded it by many times. Of course, one group doing something horrible doesn’t change if a second group goes even further.
That’s part of why history isn’t understood by subtracting numbers from one another.

Again, not true. The vast majority of early immigrants came to the Americas to find fortune, not fleeing anything. The great push west & the native genocide was largely the first 60-70 years of the 1800s. The great economic European migration started around 1880. Millions were living on the land & they were murdered and driven off, for profit. Large portions of nearly unlivable land remains unsettled for that reason. The only reason a portion of it is arable is due to massive modern engineering

Of course we weren’t there. Of course history has put great effort into understanding the motivation of historical groups. Facts & responsibility are not hate, nothing I’ve said has anything to do with hate. Understand the flow of migration is never about one family & coming for work i\does not equal fleeing oppression. I know of many of my ancestors, & when they immigrated.

I know their motivations from a huge family collection of letters & knowledge of what they did. History knows the motivations of groups by letters, records, & oral accounts of hundreds of thousands of people involved. Yes, I have friends, and yes, they understand the basic study of history as well, and know that facts aren’t hate. Please go back to cheering the desecration of museums and media by your hero.
