Happy hump day! We're trying something different with this week's Random Acts of Gifting. I'm kicking off Game of the Week (GOTW), a series in which I'll be diving a little bit deeper into why I love some of these games. The first game I want to highlight is GTFO, an Early Access title developed and produced by 10 Chambers. Of course, it wouldn't be Random Acts of Gifting without some gifts. Since it's a 4 player game, I'll be giving out 4 copies. Hopefully all winners can connect and make a squad. Trust me...you'll want one. It's WAY better with friends.

To enter the giveaway:
- Comment a number between 0 and 1000
- Please also let me know whether you like the series idea, and if so, what game on your wishlist you want next week. I'll choose one to do after reading and tallying comments!

There is also a separate giveaway of an additional 4 copies on Gleam (https://gleam.io/ilsC0/gtfo-giveaway-by-pretty-lites) for those interested in boosting their chances. Now onto the game of the week, GTFO.

What you'll get from the trailer is that this game is definitely intense. The developers are focused on delivering a truly hardcore experience. From the barebones UI, to the minimal supplies coupled with powerful enemies, even all the way to the music, this game is truly PUNISHING. 10 Chambers knew what they were going for with GTFO, something that being an indie team and also self-publishing is allowing more small developers to do more of. Love to see it.

GTFO is a stealth FPS with that has delivered on the co-op experience. The game is pretty simple in terms of core mechanics and plays out like follows: You and your friends are thrown into a hostile and terrifying environment where you are tasked with an objective to complete. Moving from room to room, you never know what sleeping monsters you’ll come face to face until they are right in front of you. To survive levels successfully, you have to work together. The developers did an awesome job of facilitating, encouraging, and requiring player to player interactions.

The difficulty scaling is non-existent - it's designed for 4 players. Because of this, some masochistic individuals play solo or in smaller groups to up the already steep difficulty curve. The developers have added match-making, but the reality is that as the game gets increasingly difficult, the level of required coordination and teamwork for success can make finding cool partners tougher than you'd like. For all these reasons - this game is best played in a squad. As the game approaches its release, and a larger audience plays it, I'd imagine this becomes less of an issue.

I find GTFO to be really replayable. First and foremost, the developers release large content updates, called Rundowns that act as season restarts. You get tons of new content which is great for co-op games, particularly if you have a squad that already enjoys the game, this is just saving you money and the discovery process for a new game to have on rotation. They've released 4 already in Early Access, with an active roadmap planning for Rundown 005 (https://gtfothegame.com/roadmap/).

They also use randomization of enemies to drive replayability. This makes repeated runs feel somewhat unique. However, with fairly long run times (some levels can take up to 2 hours to complete), it definitely hurts when you screw up at the last minute and have to restart. Idk git gud I guess? That's all I'll write about GTFO, a punishing stealth FPS that I've really enjoyed.
