I feel like this is why Lena Headey and Jerome Flynn apparently had it put in their contracts on Game of Thrones that the two of them can never appear together on camera. In the whole show run they appeared in only one scene together it lasts 10 seconds and they never make eye contact.

It's also not exactly how it went. The characters were planned to eventually develop a relationship and that was well under way when their real life relationship fizzled out.
It was thanks to their breakup that the writers had them divorce in the following season.
