-My poem from another season
I wrote this in 2015, and although I don’t remember the exact moment, I remember the feeling. It’s the strange place where certainty and doubt live side by side, where you know something and don’t want to know it at the same time. I suppose this poem was my way of admitting that I held both answers.

Schrödinger's love.

Hahah! Quite so!

Dismembering plants isn't a great way to predict human relationships.

When you care for someone more than they deserve you get hurt more than you deserve. I like your poem. It is easier to say I love you than I don't. I have written poems but these sayings are from others.

Thank you and those are some beautiful sayings.

Sometimes you want something to be true so badly that you try to convince yourself it's true.
abirkhalilart
That can certainly happen as well. My poem though leans more towards the coexisting of both the feelings…when someone genuinely loves another but they’re also afraid to fully embrace it. So to the person at the receiving end, it can feel as though they’re being loved and not loved at the same time.

Sometimes I think being autistic is a gift because I've never felt like this. Either I know or I don't.

it is absolutely the opposite for me, I can never tell what other people think or feel and can't read social cues, my dream superpower is to

be able to read people's minds cause it would make life just a bit more simple and bearable

Oh yeah, no, a lot of the time I have no idea either. My point is that I KNOW that I don't know. I also don't struggle with emotional nonsense which for me is a gift, having observed the time and mental energy people can't help but expend. Granted thinkng about everything logically pisses off most people, but fuck 'em. It's their prison, not mine.
abirkhalilart
Thank you for reading and sharing that! I think my poem wasn’t really about knowing or not knowing though. It’s actually the opposite. I was as certain he loved me as I was certain he didn’t. And at the same time, I was just as doubtful he loved me as I was doubtful he didn’t. So it wasn’t confusion or a lack of clarity, it was certainty and doubt living side by side. That’s its own strange feeling, which I feel is slightly different from just not knowing.

So did he end up loving you and not loving you at the same time?
abirkhalilart
While the contradiction had many layers and was more nuanced, that’s what it felt like most of the time.

I understand the feeling but I also feel like that's the way it's supposed to be. Everyone has doubts. Ignoring those doubts instead of exploring those doubts is how you build resentment towards the outcome you fear. Nothing is supposed to be perfect.

I absolutely agree that relationships, like most things in life, aren’t perfect. But a healthy relationship is one that strikes a balance. Doubt can exist, & as you said, it can even be beneficial since it gives partners a chance to talk about their insecurities, show their vulnerability, and allows the other to reassure them. That said, I think doubt should occupy only a small part of the relationship. If it becomes big enough to overshadow other aspects, then the relationship lacks trust.
