More and more I'm having to hear how stupid mask mandates are and defenses for people saying mandatory vaccines are stupid.
The most frustrating part of this is she refuses to say where she got her information from that its not that serious since we're vaccinated so we don't have to care about it anymore. All even though my mom was hospitalized for weeks.
Edit: sorry, its just a vent I don't really expect anything
Feralkyn
@OP maybe try counselling before you jump straight to the big D. I mean, the other big D
PinkyTheUnicorn2
Sit her down and voice your concerns. And tell her you're concerned she's getting bad information that confirms what she already wants.
indified
while iv'e never married, so i can't begin to know how you feel, i can say that 95 percent of my immediate family is this way and i hate it
Cats2cats
Had to look an anti masker in the face when complaining about how unhealthy it is to rebreathe your own air. You know I’m a nurse, right?
meanartcritic
Try talking to them kindly, don't make them feel stupid, wear them down with understanding. Love changes more hearts than anger
shawnemack
Hate it for you @op. I couldn’t imagine going through all this without my spouse and I being on the same page.
Caldersson
My wife and I got vacced asap, wear masks but hate it. We wear it to protect our kid and others. I am thankful we both agree.
zaandari11
I wear my mask religiously. It took my wife catching something at work when not wearing a mask that finally got her to wear hers all thetime
b0kke
Where does she get these influences? Maybe a social media free week?
pflugerville
Go to marriage counseling. Covid aside, seriously considering divorce means it's pretty much done already. Its very hard to fix at that pt
djhash
Bring back the roots. Ask how vaccines work and how masks work. A reminder about breakthrough infections being a thing and delta is worse.
djhash
If she doesn’t budge, then go for the divorce.
Thisisallyourfault
I just got tested to see if I'm a breakthrough infection. Did everything right, but its never 100% safe.
SliderOfElay
Facts don't change people's minds. Emotional appeals seem to work the best.
ropetopus
Facts do change people's minds, but not on their own. You have to get past the emotional and identity walls they've built too.
SliderOfElay
A friend called to cancel our first hang out in 2 years. We're both vaxed but my kids are not. His inlaws exposed him and he has a cold.
SliderOfElay
He is livid. I'm upset. And his wife is ready to cut all contact with them until they start taking shit seriously.
CanadianMetalChick
Couples therapy. NOW!
ilovethisdog
My ultimatum would be therapy to either undo wifey's brainwashing or convince me to live in her new reality with her.
lujotu
Yikes... Sorry dude. That sucks.
JohnBigboote74
It's difficult when people don't realize the impact they have to be part of the solution.

Bottom line:
dudehiemer
If you have doubts about your spouse, try to talk to them and they won't talk about it to you, do you think you're in a healthy marriage?
fbutt09
Talking is the first step. If it falls on deaf ears maybe try professional counselling. There maybe others issues at play
Evergreenmrl
Sounds like being in a relationship with a child IMO. Communication is so critical.
bootzncatss
Yeah it sounds like there’s a lot more at issue than this. I can’t imagine a marriage so fragile that covid breaks it.
Evergreenmrl
Obliterated in a year by the hammer-fall that has been Covid. It's brought so much to the surface that wouldn't otherwise be an issue.
Evergreenmrl
Covid is breaking an insane number of marriages. Marriages that would have ended after years of cracks and fissures are instead being 1/2
VelvetSin
1) I think there can be a pretty big mismatch of values that doesn't come to the fore day to day in the normal course of things, but Covid

2) means these topics are front and centre regularly, making you question if you can be with someone who thinks so differently, even if

3) the relationship is really good in just about every other way. At least, that's where I am at the moment :(
Heninthefoxden
Same but like 3 of my coworkers got divorced over covid....
stupidandre
It's your life and your marriage, you have to choose who or what is more important to you.
IdkWhatToDoWithMyTime
I’m so sorry, all you do is what you think is best for you and others. You can do this @op.
Totallyscrewedinaustin
I feel ya, couldn't tell spouse I got the vaccine cause he's a conspiracy nut. I'm so done, just can't afford to support my kids by myself..
ValiantToast
GF won't get her vax, but takes the mask-wearing and hand-sanitizing very seriously. It's an odd combination which I suppose could be worse.
ChiefMasterCaptainofTheSkyforce
If "THIS" is the last straw... my dude it has BEEN time for a divorce. Probably always was TBH.
JulzyDancer
She should be your best friend. Are you hers? Work it out don't be a twit
LifesLittleLunatic
Asshole I know, left during state lockdown to deal drugs is 'no big deal as we'll all get covid eventually'.WTF?! Done with you dude. Nope
waluigiknowsyourehigh
Why don't you trying talking to her and listening
Fyreworx
The sadest part is having to explain to people why they should care about others.
EarthGirlsAreEasy
.
RideTheStimutacs
The sadist part is explaining why you don't.
VoidofStatic
First common sense became a super power and so has both compassion and empathy. dark times
DrugsRBadMmkuy
Good friend of mine said that about his parents while trying to convince them to take the virus seriously. He stopped speaking to them. Sad

Those who swear they would take a bullet for their country won't even take a needle for thier neighbors
LoneOrtolan
"A bullet won't make me autistic.". I kid you not. This is the "logic". This and "People in shows take bullets all the time and live."
soepie7
They want to see problems as something you can just kill with a gun and be over with it.
Deathpunkin
*Americans shooting at covid particles in the distance*
BaelKor
They wouldn't actually take a bullet for this country, or for anyone outside their small, insular circle. Instead they want to kill someone.
Bmxtucker
They wouldn’t even take a bullet for their close circle. They think they would but they wouldn’t
BaelKor
They'd put a bullet in one of their close circle if it benefited them.
RandomlyAppointedNSAAgent
Reddit r/Qanoncasualties or r/Foxbrain, you aren't alone, if that helps.
Jamboeveryone
Yeah, that's pretty much why I got divorced. It pretty much came down to my morals against theirs.
HolyHellJezebel
My parents are headed to a family reunion in ND right . They are both in their 70's and I can't say I'm happy about it.
RickiestRickC137
If ur thinking about divorce over covid mandates disagreements...your marriage is a joke
