If the war thunder devs made a minigame about raping minors, we would probably have the full unredacted Epstein files within a week.
This person is known as "young Bernie", despite the fact that he is clearly super old in this image. This is a reference to the fact that nobody has tried to fix any of America's problems in the last 50 years.
I'd go back to college if it meant being able to cast Eldritch Blast.
The invisible hand touched me in a bad place.
I want detailed numbers about the overlap between states and present here vs how they actually are, but I'm too lazy to do the math myself.

It's Ohio without Cleveland. Poor Rhode Island got cursed with that. If this were real, they'd team up to take what New York stole. Besides, Connecticut should be relegated to the Western Reserve.

DukeDarkwood
Dunkin' Donuts's donuts were awesome, when it was a donut shop. They seemed to fall off when it became a coffee shop. I don't know if they got any better or worse since, because I haven't been back since then.
Oh, and yes. Dunkin' Donuts WAS a donut shop, once.

#2 Fun fact that sounds insane and made up, but is absolutely true: registered, pedigreed dogs in France have to have a name that starts with a designated letter for the year they're born. For all registered, pedigreed dogs in 2026 it's the letter B.

Would someone please explain #19 to me?
At the moment, it certainly looks like a "why do people keep bringing up the genocide" post, and I am very uncomfortable with that.
ElorYosnak
#19 Did some research: This was published in 2010. Absolutely in, at best, extraordinarily bad taste now.
With Benefit-of-the-Doubt, I would say the author was uneducated as to the situation, and has not considered going back to maybe make the punchline not include an active holocaust.
eadanke
He used the neutral term for the region to avoid an argument, got it anyway, so moved it somewhere really neutral and still got an argument.
ElorYosnak
Did some research: This was published in 2010.
Happy to say the author was perhaps uneducated as to the situation. That said, the punchline to this joke is "geography is so difficult when you want to be neutral", and is using an example that is a live-streamed-genocide, as a "neutral"
You don't put two people yelling if you are insinuating only one is an asshole.
Again, I hope this is a situation where the author was just uneducated and made an alarming mistake.

#23 Oh, you can bend the primordial laws of reality to your will, that's cool and all, but we all still know you're just gonna cast fireball
jasondeslin
I haven't looked at 5th, as I'm still pretending 4th was a bad dream, but Fireball used to be the spell for idiots.
Might as well get crossbow feats or go into melee with a dagger.
Yes, I'm going to mildly annoy a room full of mobs, as well as my party, without actually having any real effect on how long the battle lasts or how much damage we take. /s
Or, you know, summon, cast haste, and then shape the battlefield and debuff. Actually protect your party, and do more damage at the same time.
DukeDarkwood
I never saw the point, when Lightning Bolt was much cooler. Style is IMPORTANT if you're going to make it in wizard society.
jasondeslin
All direct damage spells are for losers. Summons, haste, battlefield shaping, and buffs/debuffs. Summons do damage, give flanking, and soak damage. A hasted rogue will put lightning bolt to shame. If most of the enemy can't get to your party to flank, can't use ranged, are slowed, confused, sickened...
Leave damage to the Warlock... And make them regret taking shortcuts instead of studying more at the same time.
idiotsonfire
Fuck your fireball, I cast E N T R O P Y!

#10 I wonder what is the intention behind this. When you read through it, you obviously get the impression that, the more people are interested in the history of military-focused states, the more likely it becomes that they follow an authoritarian, maybe even fascist mindset. That may be true. What took me by suprise was the end, when the moral of the story became that "anyone who questions the Treaty of Versaille must be a fascist". It is well established today in historic science that the
Mercenarity
the post is meant for laughs, but there's an element of truth to it. some subjects in history attract a demographic who selectively absorb history, twist it to their purpose, are just unfun and a drain to talk to about it, and with whom these discussions are circular and tiresome and fully reset before each next repeat after every time you shoot down some debunked, abused, chronically overstated notion or idea that keeps making its rounds on videos by content creators with swords on their wall.
DerpMeister
Or with a Pickelhaube on a shelf behind them. There's one especially obnoxious my-face-must-be-on-every-thumbnail military streamer on YT who does that. At least I didn't catch him sprouting any Russian propaganda or conspiracy theories, which doesn't mean much because I've watched like 3 videos of him.
abrubtopinion
Not "anyone", but the ones who are also super into the crusades and have uh, "interesting" ideas about why Germany lost WW1 and the like.
DerpMeister
Treaty of Versaille made a continuation war almost unavoidable. France wanted a Germany so weakened that it was unable to wage war in the future - which would have been unfair but still a better solution for Europe as compared to what actually resulted as a treaty. Britain opposed France' plan because they wanted Germany to be able to counter powerimbalances in continental Europe. The US under Wilson had probably the most fair and honest intentions for a treaty that would ensure continous peace
DerpMeister
but the US didn't have enough weight (and in the end also interest in European matters) at the time to form the treaty accordingly. The result was a treaty that left Germany like a wounded animal, that suffered from being continously beaten but had not been wounded badly enough to be unable to eventually fight back. I wonder if the intention of that meme is to discredit anyone who would otherwise point out how the Allied of WW1 bore significant blame for WW2.
PragmaticPrimate
That's probably not the opinion that about Germany losing WW1 that they're worried about. This is:

#23 my first DnD character was a snobby illusionist wizard who felt that all the other schools, but especially Enchantment and Evocation, were for losers and dummies. i considered it a loss when I would have to cast anything other than pure illusion spells.
Feralkyn
I played a pyromancer in another setting and went the exact opposite way. He was well-spoken, educated, intelligent, but would try to solve EVERYTHING with fire. Door with complex arcane lock? A hot enough fire will solve that whole pesky door (and potentially lock) issue. Counterspell? Just blast fire at their face mid-cast.
...Goblins later introduced him to explosives, and some encounters ended up being essentially holy water grenades vs. demons. It was fun AF.
fartharder
Any problem can be solved with a sufficient amount of magical fire

I'm playing a Pyromancer Kobold Sorcerer right now! He is NOT smart but he's got a 20 in Charisma and expertise in persuasion...so if I can't burn my problems, I can sure as hell solve them by being a lil cutie patootie. I'm having a blast.
Feralkyn
That sounds fun AF!
