Nobody wants to move to Flint idc how cheap homes r out there

There was a period when you could buy a decent sized home under $50K in Flint. I seriously considered buying one of those, replace all the piping with Pex, install a whole house Reverse Osmosis filter, and retire there.

As someone who lives in the county south of there, prices are low because the area died 30 years ago. Find the movie Roger & Me.

They lost me at Midwest

I'm in the midwest rn and it's not even like that in places where there's actually work and the water isn't poison. I live in the middle of nowhere, 15 minutes from anything that isn't a bar or factory and 50 minutes from the nearest large city, and my rent is *still* $1290/mo. for a single bedroom 900sqft. Ten+ years ago a 2br 800sqft apartment in this area would have been $650. This inflated rent shit can fuck off and die.

Flint Michigan is both a modern industrial disaster and the "canary in the coal mine" for the entire US and it's economy. Capitalists polluted the town so badly that it's physically impossible to live there, which has subsequently collapsed the local economy (I.e. the businesses that did the polluting in the first place have become unable to operate).

The message is clear. Deregulation = Destruction. It's either Socialism or Barbarism.

Barbarism probably has cooler outfits.

They still haven't fixed issues with the drinking water, so it's also about that.

They've fixed about 97% of it.

Is the 3% the poison?

The fix is definitely not refllecting in the housing prices.
