I have a weird affinity for the trumpet. I don't know when it started, but the music speaks to my soul.

Herb Alperts Christmas album is FANTASTIC!

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why didn't it go viral on TikTok when it was first released, 60 years ago? No one can say...

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holy shit! I have like 27 of their albums on vinyl.

1 year ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

Ohh, collections item now

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He also produced a lot of great songs for the Carpenters and others during the '70's, lost track of him later.

Herb Alpert's Tijuana Brass were popular back in the 60s.

My Dad had this LP. This one tune really caught my 'ear'..glad it's back.

And now for his 3 billion streams he'll get a royalty check from Spotify for $12.37.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Nah it's around 10 million and he probably has a better deal since he co owns the label

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Reminds me of the Trololo guy.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

He wrote a lot of music, and had a solid band which was very popular with people of all ages.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m somewhat familiar with him, but just like the trololo guy, a random musical piece became an internet sensation 50+ years later.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

90?! Holy hell. Study his DNA please.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

3 billion streams and he made $1.57!

1 year ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I think to him it's more about the satisfaction of people enjoying something that he loved creating.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

him enjoying and all, thats fine, but $1.57 ... man thats ridiculous and shameful.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have that on vinyl from 60 years ago. But I've got a number of his albums on vinyl/cassette/CD. Years ago my wife bought me a "random jazz CD" to accompany my 1st CD player. She walked into the room to hear me whistling along (pretty accurately actually) to a complex trumpet part and asked, "Do you KNOW this music?" I said, "You bought me a Herb Alpert CD, BY CHANCE???"

Herb Alpert is the "A" of A&M Records

1 year ago | Likes 148 Dislikes 0

After Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss sold A&M, they started Almo Sounds record company, which put out the Pulsars self-titled album in the 90s. Herb played trumpet on a few songs on the album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNFTKuXRyyk

Holy shit I did not know that

1 year ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Chris Montez, another 1960s singer is the "M". Listen:

He was on CBS Mornings today about this. He said, it too him years to understand, the Trumpet is just plumbing, the music comes from within

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This could lead lots of directions. There is so much music from the 30's to the 70's that never quite made the 'hot 100.' Luiz Bonfá's, Manhã de Carnaval. Dave Brubeck, Take Five. Hazel Scott, Dark Eyes.

Herb Alpert!

Wait til they hear “Rise”. Man can’t believe he’s 90 he’s more coherent than 90% of the US govt 🤣

That just brought me straight back to high school marching band drill to this one.

The lowest of bars.

But still Bars indeed.

The bar is in hell, in the basement of the palace, under a shelf.

One of his best known songs, "Tijuana Taxi":

1 year ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Well TIL, heard this song used so many time but never had a name to put on it

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite will ALWAYS be Casino Royale. The best Bond intro of them all.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't recognize the song, but good for him. Knowing technology today, I doubt he's being credited as much as he would deserve. But it's nice to think we still have chances at creating great things at old age

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I feel like this gentleman would have been awesome to have on Cowboy Bebop

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Great to see. Herb is a link, one way I stay connected, to my long passed father. Dad loved him. <3

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still touring, and after 50+ years, still married to Lani Hall.

Tequila

Herb Alpert has been jazzing like a boss since the mid 1950s! I can't even imagine to have a 70 year career doing something you love and excel at! Incredible.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But before TikTok, it was the Fallout show that brought it back...

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

90!? He’s aged well.

1 year ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 0

Waiting to see this comment. Like, the dude is more coherent at 90 than some 60 year olds I know. Hell, even some 30 year olds I know.

1 year ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Yeah, sign me right the fuck up for that shit.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it because of the music? I mean, trumpet is extremely physically demanding...and his music is calming...

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He did a lot of blow.(ing)

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes! I want to be like this guy if I reach that age.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It goes to show good music lasts forever 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

For me his Casino Royale theme is the greatest of all the themes, and the lyrics make it even better.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The first 4 notes I thought he was playing Neil Sedaka’s Laughter in the Rain. Prolly Sedaka who got it from Herb!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love minute long videos about a song, that feature like 9 seconds of the audio.

He's an absolute legend with EIGHT grammys. Touch of Honey? The Lonely Bull? This are tunes EVERYONE knows. I had no idea het got popular on tiktok recently.

1 year ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

* A Taste of Honey. That was a cover, written by Scott/Marlowe. The Beatles also covered it.

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

* Marlow. The song was written for the musical version of the play by the same name. The Beatles covered it in ‘62, Herb Alpert in ‘65.

I remember my friend and I listening to his dad's Herb Alpert albums back in the late 70s. Good stuff.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I read that as Herp Albert

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sold A&M Records and founded a foundation for to support the arts and music education in the schools.

1 year ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Heard this song a hundred times and never knew what it was.

I have a question. Why does he call her a "doll"?

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Did he call someone a doll in the video? I’m confused.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He said, 'Let's protect the dolls'

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow, my comment was for another video. Imgur, why you so screwy

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, that’s odd. Haha!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rise and Spanish Flea are my faves from him.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I used to use Spanish Flea to test the PA on the trains I used to work on. The cleaners loved it
