Well done to this driver!! Guys, take no for an answer! Don't push it, don't do what this guy did!

Lots of trashy people out there, nice work Uber driver!

Ok but seriously, you should tip the fuck out of your driver if you make a request like this.

My son already does things like me, and he is just ten months old. They are watching. And fuck that guy.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

While I do not doubt in anyway situations like this occur all the time, but this sounds fake as hell. Remember guys, I'm a hero and here is why is what this sounds like

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Of course this is fake as hell. A woman drives her car to the fair, then tries to leave so she calls an Uber...instead of just getting in her car to leave. And then no crime happened.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

The sad truth: some men respect more an invisible boyfriend than a woman in front of them.

2 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 3

The sadder truth: society has taught us to be this way. The whole "hard to get" thing was a cultural norm for a very long time with seemingly nobody realizing how fucked up the whole thing was.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep. The best example is "you shouldn't get sterilized in case your future husband wants kids." They make up an imaginary man and makes his imaginary wishes more important than the actual woman in front of them, making a decision about her own body.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And that why so many women choose to be stuck in a forest with a freaking bear than "a random man". You can have wold full of wonderful people like this driver, but it takes just one man that doesn't take "no" for an answer to go with more predicable danger of a bear.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Attention All Uber and Lyft drivers: Continue to do your jobs in such a way that a woman in distress trusts you enough to help her out of situation like this one.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Yeah, yeah - blah blah : where'd you go eat ?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That guy was such a creep the girl would rather trust a literal stranger over the internet rather than ride with him.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

She's rather lie about not having her car keys (when she had them) to a guy that asked if he could help, then take an Uber so she'd have to come back for her car?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Are you really this clueless? Have you never actually talked to any women? You don't know the shit they go through and why they're so terrified of "a guy that asked if he could help." Maybe 90% of nice guys are actually nice and genuinely only want to help. So there's only a 1 in 10 chance of being raped and/or brutally murdered. Maybe it's only 1 in 20. Are those really odds you'd want to play?

I love that the theme of this post is respecting women, then this image of a woman is hyper sexualized and a perversion of the actual character for the sexual indulgence of men and upvoted highly, then you find it cringe and you're downvoted by the same mob that respects women but can't help but over sexualize them in response to the post of respecting them.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

#4 Problem is, the sort who need to hear this already know sons are watching and they think their example is proper. Women are to be cornered, taken, had as prize and meat...They know exactly the role they're modeling and it's 'hunter'.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yeah, I had a girl ask my wife and I if she could sit down and act like I was her boyfriend for a few minutes at the mall. She never told us what was happening, but we assume it was something like that wtf is wrong with some men?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And then the men did nothing and nothing happened.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

Good point. She took steps to make sure the creep couldn't creep on her and then he didn't creep on her. Wait, did I say "good" point?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is there a point to this? If nothing happened then great, it was not needed or the situation was defused because she did what she did. Either way the woman lost nothing, the couple lost nothing, and whomever was that triggered that situation also lost nothing since they were not pointed or accused (in case, as you say, it really was just misread vibes).

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The driver did good. But it shouldn't be the driver's role to do good.

2 years ago | Likes 275 Dislikes 6

It's everyone's role to do good.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not everyone can be trained to be good (the pushy dude). It's nice that other people will step up.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I’m a stocky muscle lady that has frequent got the ā€œhelp meā€ eyes from other women at the bar and all of a sudden long lost friends got to reunite and hang out at the bar alone. I have also gotten the more obvious ā€œleave us aloneā€ eyes/body language from the men I’m being summoned to intercept for. I’m not sure where all the ā€œI’m a good manā€ men are at but they sure leave a bunch of small women to fend for themselves. Unless there happens to be a Bear couple there, then they save women as well

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Serious question: would you have stepped in if you didn't get the "help me" eyes? Because if the answer is no, then there's the reason why you don't see the "I'm a good man" men stepping in. Because we're not getting the help me eyes. I would absolutely help someone in need. I HAVE helped people in need. But I also understand, I'm the very last person they're going to look to for help. I wear the uniform of the enemy, after all. I know why she picked the bear, and I don't blame her.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In my personal experience, either men don’t see the settle body language of an uncomfortable women as most learn the smile, nod, and agree to the large predator and hide their fear, or they straight up side with the guy cause I guess there is an unspoken ā€œdon’t cock blockā€ code. Only when the guy is VERY drunk and a women is giving OBVIOUS signs have I seen men step in. I should add bouncers have stepped in before. When a women is uncomfortable, she sends signals to every women around

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

While working retail I did this for several female employees. They usually had a signal if a customer was getting too aggressive and I'd come walking over and say something like, "Your Mom just called me and wanted to make sure we were still going to dinner with her tonight." It was usually enough to deter someone.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

"It shouldn't be the driver's role to do good." would be a great bumper sticker for a bad driver.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is great advice, but sounds a little like preaching to the choir here. I'm afraid guys who need to accept "no" for an answer... don't want to (and won't) accept "no" for an answer. They aren't going to learn that lesson until it costs them... and for some, not even then.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

Yet the story tells as the woman said "no" and the guy is ok with that. She said "no" and then she went home (in an Uber).

Nothing happened to the woman aside from having to come back to the fair for her car.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

I think it's for awareness - not trying to convert some bad guys - for decent people to be as aware as we can.

And yes, it reads like Grandpas facebook butI viewed it as a bit of a PSA to healthy men who might see a woman or stranger in distress. "Pretend to know me" or "pretend you're my friend or boyfriend" is a huge red flag someone is in danger. Most likely from a woman but I have also heard of scared kids doing this.

The idea is for others to be aware for our fellow people.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

This should never happen, of course, but neither should people put their Uber drivers in this type of position. An aggressive creep could do *anything* to a supposed boyfriend. I don't think this is something that should be recommended at all.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Nothing happened to the woman, a guy asked her if she needed help and she lied about having a boyfriend and then the story ends.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 11

IDK, did she try telling the truth? The guy seemed like a gentleman. Did he really do anything wrong? Did she actually say "no"? Men SHOULD learn to accept "NO!" as an answer...did she do that?

She lied to the guy about losing her car keys and when he offered her a ride home, suddenly he's the bad guy?

Nothing happened, the guy was trying to help. I don't believe this story one bit. Sometimes people are just nice and want to help.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 26

Imagine how creepy you have to be for a woman to call a complete stranger for help getting away from you. As a dude, I'm sorry this happens.

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Number of times I've been asked to be fake husband/boyfriend at a bar is crazy. This kinda shit happens all the time. Pathetic. (On men i mean)

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Help from what, a guy asking if you need help? Your car won't start (which you lied about) and a guy asks if he can help.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 23

Bro, your fedora is too tight

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

The creepy dude I'm referring to is the guy the woman was trying to get away from. The fact that you'd imply he's merely "a guy asking if he can help" says some things.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Or the guy is just being nice and just offering a woman in trouble some help?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 17

If I offer a lady help and she uses an anti-creep brushoff, it stings but I understand. I have three sisters, none of whom made it out of their youth unscathed by creeps. If the only way these women can keep themselves safe is to assume that I'm a creep then so be it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is why women chose the bear.

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

IDK, if I saw a woman in trouble and I could offer some help I would. I'm not a bear. How is a man offering help (like a gentleman) considered to be wrong?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 17

Some bars have notices in the ladies toilet. If you say a particular word to the bar staff they are trained to assist you with a safe exit strategy.

2 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 7

As a former bartender "trained" is generous. Usually if there's something like that up, it's because the bartender put it there themselves. Still people trying to help out, but much more ad-hoc.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah… we need to stop sharing this all over social media. If it’s hidden in the women’s room, leave it there. Surprisingly, creeps and rapists have Facebook too.

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I think 'Ask for Angela' is still a thing, I know if I heard someone asking the bar staff "Is Angela working tonight?" I'd know she needs help...

2 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

That’s a great note. I know the thing used to be to ask for an ā€œAngel Shotā€, but unfortunately that’s not secure enough anymore

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

It's definitely now known, but if asked at a bar and even if the guy hears it he'll know then to back the fuck off. Very rarely would a girl be attacked standing at the bar around plenty of people, it's better than nothing. But as was said some pubs have their own signs up in the bathrooms

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Angle shots, here down in the south. Ask the bartender for an angle shot, immediately get assistance and the cops called for harassment.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Angel shots, sorry guys

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Angle" shots or 'angel' shots? Given the topic, second-grade spelling mistakes could fuck some stuff up.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yes sorry, auto correct.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that an acute or obtuse angle shot?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep, heard of those ones too and I'm in Ireland!! It's great that these things are known and someone can be helped... Even if the terms are well known, it can still be easier to ask for a shot, Angela, whatever, than physically saying "I need help" it's weird but I'd definitely find it easier than saying those words!!

A guy asked a woman if she needed help, she said no and then the story ended.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

A guy made unwanted advances, got rejected, got told no, and wouldn't stop following her around. He made her feel so unsafe that she went through this whole thing just to get away, and you want to hand wave her story because she didn't let it go where it was heading. You are the problem.
Ask if someone wants your company, and if they say no or hesitate you leave. Don't hamg around, don't fucking follow them, LEAVE. It's that easy, yet people like you don't seem to get it.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Those pieces of shit ruin it for the rest of the good guys.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Why, what did he do? She lied about not having her car keys and he offered to help. Isn't that what the "good guy" does?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

As a "good guy" what would you do in this situation?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Assuming this isn't fake, what the fuck kind of friends does she have to string her out with a creep?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

She went to the fair with her friends...in her car, but then when she went to leave she was alone? Then she lied about not having her car keys and the guy was all, "Can I drive you home?? She said no, called an Uber and then everyone was fine.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Definitely gives off "and then everyone clapped" vibes.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yeah, what if the Uber driver was a woman. Gonna keep canceling until a guy accepts?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Honestly maybe, if I were in that situation. I would like to say that she could pull a "this is my girlfriend" but my experience as a queer woman has taught me that pushy men often take that as a challenge and push even harder. Way too many men think that lesbian means she just hasn't tried the right dick yet.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Yeah, those kind of guys super hate anyone LGBTQ. But most users take like 20 minutes to arrive. What then, stand there while he harasses them? Hope the driver doesn't think "this is a scam I'm gonna get robbed" and cancel? It's why none of this story rings true.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Better to wait 20 min in public with the creep feeling awkward than go into a deserted parking lot with him following you or get into his car. Ordering one means that a potential witness knows where you are and will physically be there soon.
And lying about knowing her does nothing to make it more likely that the driver gets robbed. That's already a risk for drivers.
I'm with you that it could be made up. But I've also had similar real life experiences so it's realistic enough to me.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She shouldn't have to do this. I would not go out with these "friends" again. They left her all alone with the creepy guy.

2 years ago | Likes 194 Dislikes 3

So when the creepy guy accosted her, she left the fair and went to her car. The guy followed her, so she called for an Uber and waited for the Uber, leaving her car behind.

She then got in the Uber and nothing happened.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 22

That creepy guy is a classic "missing stair".

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

There's this phenomenon called a missing stair. Basically people can get so used to a dangerous part of their social group, they treat it as a minor inconvenience that can easily be navigated with a few rules. They have rules about it, and will discreetly warn newcomers, but never got to repair/remove it.
"It's just Steve being Steve. Just don't accept any car rides or opened drinks from him. Don't make a fuss about it. He's been part of our group since forever."

2 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shouldn't is a funny word. According to who? People are awful. We have to protect ourselves from them, whether or not we feel we shouldn't have to.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Yup, that's not ok. They should stop inviting the creepy guy though, not just make sure females aren't alone with him.

2 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 2

So why did she lie about not having her car keys? Why not just get in her car and drive off?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 20

Tell me you’re a guy without telling me you’re a guy. To answer your question: Because the car is the metaphorical corner that will force a confrontation. She unlocks it and he gets in, or she unlocks it and he goes for a kiss or something more, or she pulls her keys out and he takes them, any of which force her into a risky confrontation she doesn’t want. His actions are about control. Until arriving at the car, he’s the one making all the choices. The lie keeps her out of the corner and safe.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

And for the record, you’re not wrong in that she could have done exactly what you suggested and it all miiight have been fine. But his behavior was making her feel uncomfortable and he clearly wasn’t reading the signs up until that point. I think it was a smart move that should be unnecessary but here we are.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Also the car might have been in a garage or other secluded area where she would be alone with him. Also I wouldn't want that guy to know what kind of car I drive or get my plate number.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

The woman lied about having lost her car keys, why didn't she just get in her car and start it up and leave?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 17

Dude had a history of being aggressive and not taking no for an answer. You talk like you've never had a guy trap you somewhere before.
I have. It's fucking scary.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

All we have in this story is a woman who lied about losing her keys and then a guy offered to giver her a ride home (because he was told she lost her keys).

She then lied about having a boyfriend. We hear nothing else about this story.

As the story goes, nothing bad happened. Nobody was hurt, raped, assaulted...all we have is a story about how a woman said she couldn't get home and a guy that offered to help.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 27

Did you totally miss the part he wouldn't take no for an answer?? Or how she felt uncomfortable?? Even without the fact that apparently he has a past, those 2 things are the only 2 things that matter. When a woman says no, when she shows no interest back, or is stand offish by advances , take note! Back off and leave her alone!

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 4

Look, if a woman at work was having similar problems with her car I'd probably offer the same assistance. Does that make me a bad guy?!

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 23

If she's turned down your advances and you've pushed her on it, suggest to her she gets a lift off a friend. If she wanted your help she'd ask for it, chances are she'd ask someone else! Seriously dude, wtf??!

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

So she lied about her car not working, then she lied again about having a boyfriend...and we're supposed to listen to the story about a woman who lied over and over about a guy who was trying to help?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 22

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

I just want to know the facts. Was she attacked? Did a guy offer to drive her home? What actually happened?!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 17

Wtf is wrong with you?! Fact: dude was forward. Fact: dude would not take no for an answer - that means she had said no at least once. Fact: dude had a reputation for being aggressive. Fact: this dude with all these red flags followed her into a situation where she would have needed to make herself vulnerable. Fact: she lied to get out of a vulnerable situation. Fact: dude offered to help by putting her into an even more vulnerable situation. Seriously what dots are you failing to connect here?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Uber driver was not there and would not be able to tell that part of the tale

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

It seems she had her car keys, why wouldn't she just get in her car and drive off?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Opening the car door means she could have been pushed into her car. Women know these things, we suss out a threat and an escape very quickly. She obviously didn't feel safe opening her car door, if he pushed her in she'd be trapped.

passive misogyny (perpetuated by men and women) continues to coerce people into thinking that intimacy is about "playing the game" with hard-to-get vs relentless pursuit. The problem is, this is a really fun dynamic when both people are consenting to it, but many never include that very important caveat when they talk about pursuing romance. Communication is the key to a stable foundation, and if someone is honestly not into you that way, don't add a "Yet" and pursue a one sided attraction

2 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

I’m trying to get my husband to stop tickling/whatever our young daughter when she says no, even when it’s in that ā€œno but actually definitely yesā€ giggle (you all know what I mean). It's not about being their best. It's that controlling dominant sex IS what some men enjoy. Respectful, emotionally-connecting sex is not something they would enjoy.

It's not that they've only had bad sex and so just don't know better. It's that what others might call bad sex, they call good and seek out, prefering it over other options.

It's true, had an eager girl who acted not eager (dead fish) and it felt like rape and thankfully I did not enjoy it.

Context: she picked me up, she said her wishes to me and during our fishfilleting I even asked her a couple of times to make sure she actually did enjoy it.

Fishfilleting! Hehe

Nothing in this story says thing one about rape.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 16

it is implied
perhaps you should seek help w/ understanding humans' weird af social cues [ no judgment ]

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Nope, you need some serious help if you thing a man can't just help a woman without there being some undertones of rape/sex.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 9

maybe I do need help.
however, you are still mystified by context which is amply informative to the rest of the folks.
My issues have nothing to do with your difficulty picking up on the social cues in the story.

Maybe not, but it implies she was afraid of being raped.

I'm afraid of having my lung taken out. Doesn't mean I have just one lung.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

As a dude with one working lung I envy you

I'm afraid of having my kidney taken out...

Sadly, some people are all about control and power when it comes to sex. The pleasure and enjoyment of others is secondary, if on the list at all. That said, I believe and hope that to be true for a small minority.

Nothing in this story said thing one about sex.

Lovely and red is Kamala’s mouth, but try to kiss it against Kamala’s will and not a drop of sweetness will you have from it, which is so capable of dispensing great sweetness!

Explain or not, but don't just fucking link to Google.
Not clicking that you lazy bum.

There's been studies that a surprising amount of men are OK with rape as long as you don't call it rape or similar.

Nothing in this story said thing one about rape.,

She was trying to get away from an aggressive guy who wouldn't take no for an answer. She had a complete stranger pretend to be her boyfriend to get away from him. What do you think is going on in this situation.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Why would she call an Uber if she had her car keys?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Because she was trying to avoid putting herself in a situation where she might be raped.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

IDK, because nothing happened. She lied about her car trouble and then called an Uber? The Uber arrived and then she went home. The end.

Please, for the love of all the things that are nice in this world, reread all the replies you are getting until you understand. The woman was in danger and relied on a complete stranger to play along to get away from that asshole.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Are… are you the guy following the woman in this story? Literally everyone else reading this story knows the woman is trying to avoid getting raped.

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

But she didn't get raped...nothing in the story says she got raped.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 11

Okay, guess you’re a troll then. Sorry I tried.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

IDK, she was thinking she might get raped but didn't get raped. That doesn't make the guy a rapist.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 10

He is someone who has disregarded the consent of others in pursuit of sex or romance. That's a big fucking red flag for him being a potential rapist, and also a terrible thing to do in its own right, even if he never intended to do more than walk her to her car.
The bar is much higher than don't rape, you also have to respect consent for other things, like hugs and handshakes, attention/conversation, personal space, objectification etc.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Nope, I'm the guy who would help a woman in trouble.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 15

Considering what you just said I don't believe you. That woman was afraid of being assaulted and relied on a complete stranger to avoid being raped. You, somehow, missed that and decided to argue that take was never brought up.

If you can’t tell this story is about avoiding rape, I don’t think you’ll be much help
