I walked in on THAT scene accidentally when I was like 9. Honestly think it contributed to me being sex-averse for most of my life :') Meanwhile everyone else here is just like "doesn't matter, saw boobs" lmao
The only thing I remember about this movie is the worker refused to sell us tickets because we were underage. So I asked for a ticket to Water World. Then they insisted I pay the adult price. So I said then switch it to a Species ticket. No, you're not old enough. Went in a circle for a bit, settled on a WaterWorld ticket, then walked into Species. Fun times.
We Germans did call people like him "verstrahlt", meaning batshit crazy and translating to "radiated", so maybe you're on to something. (Haven't heard that expression for a while now, not sure if just my bubble or "Getting radiated" is a little bit more unlikely in Germany nowadays...)
I've always wondered how much actresses think about this. So you're dedicated to your craft, maybe you went to a prestigious school.. had a few parts you're really proud of, lines you delivered that just hit perfect... you film the movie, and are thinking "ok, time for the world to see my talent" then you get the call "Hey you did great, but we wana get some shots of your knockers to really sell it."
2/ I had to go and see the original comment. Now I get it. :D
What was it like to work in a movie theater in -98? What was you day to day work? I bet you saw all the best movies, as many times as you wanted! Is that how it works?
I got in trouble for "spoiling" ending of Titanic. The manager knew I would never respect him and would insult him EVERY. SINGLE. CHANCE. I got after that meeting.

First thing I thought was

IamnotarobitIseethenumber2
H.R. Giger designed and approved.
Omnimorph2112
The tagline for that film was great. "Men can't resist her. Mankind might not survive her"
Pasquinelthe2nd
HumanFromPlanetEarth
She had a cameo in the second season of Fallout

The Whole 9 Yards is legitimately one of my favorite comedies.

let us all thank HANS RUDI GEIGER for his contribution to the human psyche.
SirRichfield
Sorry to be that guy, but: Giger. A Geiger either plays the violin or makes that funny noise when near radiation.
Eiladar
In fairess, Giger would also make funny noises when near radiation - but you'd probably need a lot more of it.
SirRichfield
We Germans did call people like him "verstrahlt", meaning batshit crazy and translating to "radiated", so maybe you're on to something. (Haven't heard that expression for a while now, not sure if just my bubble or "Getting radiated" is a little bit more unlikely in Germany nowadays...)

And thanx to Hans Gruber, Christmas wouldn't be the same without him.
ThatOtherGirlYouKnow
Thank the two trans women who spit roast him while he was on LSD one night in Zurich. Before then his art was all Alpine pastures and twee cows.
rbudrick
I did not know this story. But it makes one fucking hell of a lot of sense.
veronicablood
what paintings did those two people do?
ThatOtherGirlYouKnow
Mostly splatter art

Targe0
Was her only acting role.
And frankly she did an excellent job.
imverybusy2
Uhh no. Not a lot of memorable roles but she’s still active
Targe0
I was talking about how she had no prior acting experience at the time.
Species was her first professional acting gig.
imverybusy2
Ya there’s definitely a difference in first role and only role.
Pasquinelthe2nd
I take it then you never saw THE WHOLE NINE YARDS? Or GHOSTS OF MARS?
Targe0
I mean that it was her only role at the time.
She hadn't acted in anything before, it was her first role.
Pasquinelthe2nd
That's not what you said. Admit you were wrong.
themanwhocamefromlater
she was in Fallout (tv-series) this year
Targe0
I was referring to the fact she hadn't acted professionally before this.
This was her first role.
AlwaysDownvoteDots
That's not the same thing at all
drousnavat
Species was an interesting movie with a premise that was fun and also tiddies
Theshnazzyone
It's the second HR Geiger designed movie monster before his death.

NeverShaveYourDuck
Anything with Forrest Whitaker in it is a film I've gotta see. Oh, and F. Murray Abraham!
tzahtman
Why so mad at Murray Abraham?
NeverShaveYourDuck
Because he killed Moe Zart!
Evi1Gav
It had a bizarrely impressive cast list as well. Michael Madsen, Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina, forest Whitaker.
theskepticinme
I saw it in the theater in Singapore. Nudity edited out :(

If you want to see Doc Ock fuck, then rent this movie! - Siskel and Ebert
Heisanevilgenius
To be fair, 80% of the movies I saw were so I could see Doc Ock fuck
drousnavat
Alfred got it on and was on the recieving end of a tentacle
Bigemedic
Never saw it, but I'm told the kiddies featured heavily in the story.
MechKelly
I always get confused between Species and Splice.
drousnavat
Species is the old one. Splice is the one with the very distance eyes and amazing boobies
RuBisCO1
Still confusing

Cearnaigh
Considering how vile we know the whole Hollywood business to be, probably just a blip on the grossed out meter at that point.
samanthadlcruz
pretty sure she already knew her knockers were selling this movie well before they got to that point...
huey9k
I was 'fortunate' enough to be working in a movie theater in 1998, when Species II was showing. I saw it for free.
I didn't touch my girlfriend for a month.
She tried to start a fight with me; I told her to go watch the movie.
She didn't touch me for a month.
secularink
Why?
huey9k
You've never seen Species II, have you? One watch, and you'll decide no sex is not that bad a thing.
secularink
I have seen it... wait.
