I want to know how they know to behave like this. It's the same deal for pointers. It's a very specific behaviour and they learn it.. genetically!?

At least to good doggo knew the command "drop it"

My sweet summer child, your beautiful doggo didn't think the duckling needed saving, it's a retriever. Your doggo thought he was retrieving the results of your hunt together. Duckling was going to be dinner.

I had a wolf, and a nest had fallen out of a tree and had been run over by a lawnmower, but it had one surviving swallow in there. My wolf scooped it up in her mouth and brought it to me maybe 50 feet away and dropped it in front of me. We nursed he baby chick, taught them to eat bugs and fly, named her cutie pie, and let her go in the backyard. Cutie pie would hop around the yard following me everywhere until she could fly.

Looks like a gosling, I'd be concerned about mom and dad.

Most likely close by and fine, just scared off by the dog.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You are right. A cat would straight up kill it. Like they kill birds just for fun. Keep your cats inside.

My golden `hates` the water… but loves ducks. I’ll share this and see what he thinks.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Wow, I've never met a Golden that didn't like water. I guess every dog is different.

My brother has a labrador retriever, and uh, yeah, let's just say he does retrieve...
(Long story short, my brother doesn't take him to that part of the park anymore.)
