The area somewhat recently became a hot topic in Japan as they closed/restricted areas of the popular tourist location due to disrespectful, loud and aggressive tourists. They'd treat the women there as props and enter peoples homes to use their bathrooms (allegedly). You can still go but can't go everywhere.
