For a couple years after Obergefell, strangers would say “congrats” to me and my partner when we were out walking hand-in-hand. For a while, it felt like the area where I felt safe holding hands with my partner was expanding rapidly. It hasn’t shrunk to 90s era size, but the safe zone now feels a lot smaller than it did in 2015.

I’ll be honest (as a cis gay man). At my first Pride Parade (Denver ‘84), it was odd to me to consider being proud to be gay. I mean, I was born this way. Am I proud to be a man? Proud to be White? I just didn’t feel it. I understand Pride better now; it’s more like not being ashamed. And I’m proud to be in good company.

And that pissed off a bunch of people who just LOVE to stick their noses into other peoples lives. Because it is against THEIR rules, they decide that OTHER people shouldn't be allowed to enjoy their lives. I don't care which religion you are, YOUR rules don't dictate what others can or can't do.
