This is the 4th time I've tried college, if I can pull it off I stand to get a new job doubling my income. I just .. it's so hard to sit and learn from a computer or book.

I find the chill music channels on YouTube to be good for refocusing and not being distracted by loud beats or lyrics.

only way i survived is to rewrite notes a few times, then come test day it was like a data dump of info

Every time you are feeling unmotivated, just focus on how you would feel after graduating and that first phat paycheck.

I just finished my degree at 42. For me, a combination of electronic textbooks with audio capability and creating study groups worked well.
MrStealYourGiF
Find a study buddy who is struggling even worse and if you can explain crap to them and get them through you'll pass too.

Maybe you have set your goals to high?
Hemelsblauw
Why don't you find software that read to you whats in the books. You need to find a method that works for you. You could even read aloud 1
Hemelsblauw
And record yourself. Then go for a walk and listen to it. Try to find out whats has worked for you in the past.

I found it liberating to go back when I was older (10 years just like you). It was uncomfortable at times but stick with it. You got this!
PenguinNamedWobbles

Here’s what I do. I print 5 copies of the practice problems and I start with the answers at hand and until I go through the motions enough /
MrHappySmiles
Times that I can stop relying on the answers and learn the process. I’m almost ready to stop bothering with the lectures…
MrHappySmiles
I learned this playing risk & monopoly on my Xbox, like speed playing gets you very good, and applied it to studying ftw!
MrHappySmiles
And when I say relying, I mean heavily. the first two sets are copying the answer while I wonder wtf is this? Next 3-8 are weening off..
MrHappySmiles
Also you must apply discipline 1) do it, 2) get through it, 3) take breaks before you return to it. Repetition not speed.

I did this too. I went to like... 4 lectures during my entire masters program. This, however, is not the norm and not for most people. 1/
Zzap1
It takes discipline and a very "i only learn by doing myself" kind of brain. 2/
MrHappySmiles
Yes, what really got this ball rolling.. was study groups. Find one. If it doesn’t exist stand up in class and announce “Study Grp who’s in?
MrHappySmiles
For me the hot European girl did this and I was in. Luckily, study groups saved my education and paved the way for “the process”

Yeah studying with others worked great for me too. I needed it to not be too quiet, so I always sat in public and active places
