My daughter tried to pull a practical joke on me by having mail sent from "the county clerk's office" addressed to Mrs. *Her first name, boyfriend's last name*. She thought I'd be mad that she eloped, I told her that it was dumb because she might have given up her right to vote by taking his name
My wife did in both our and her previous marriage. I had no issues with her keeping it at all, it makes no changes to why I love her and apparently it will make life a bit easier now.
Or never get married. A rational person would also vow to have zero children until the US has made a complete 180° from the political path that it's currently on and put this regressive far-right fringe down for good. Ideally women across the US would collaborate to deny men sex (and arm themselves to enforce this embargo if necessary) until this entire administration is behind bars, the GOP has been banned, and all women's and minority rights have been irrevocably enshrined in the constitution.
I had to do that when I got married last June. It's actually the reason that I didn't want my Trump-voter dad to walk me down the aisle anymore. He took that experience away from me, so I took that experience away from him.
Thats a dumb take. Why throw out centuries of tradition because one scamming pedophile got elected. Thats literally letting them win. This is exactly what they want.
I don't think the answer to trumps bullshit is to do exactly what he wants lol.
That's not what he wants. He wants to block women from voting, which will help him win. So its the opposite of what he wants. No need to call people dumb just because you disagree with them.
No need to jump to white knighting if you disagree either. Also, learn how to read. I said it was a dumb take, I never said the person was dumb. Plenty of intelligent people say dumb shit. Distinction matters.
Stopping a known tradition because someone changes the rules is in fact conceding. Its the same dumb stance this platforms mob takes on anything political (if you don't agree, you're against us rahhh) which is just flat out not true, but people don't care.
Conceding would be not voting if you have a vagina. Do whatever you have to do to keep voting, even if it's that petty. It's actually a bonus that the 'traditional values' people get mad because that venn diagram is a circle.
Can go back to peer pressure from dead folks when they aren't fighting to take more important things away.
It doesnât work like that. Laws like this are enforced selectively. They only check the âwrong kindâ of woman and bar them from voting while ignoring the law for the âright kindâ.
I know, that is what I posted in a reply to soemone, they will probably "check" this more tightly in blue areas over red ones. They know exactly what they do and how to abuse it.
You voted for this. Well... most people (85M) didnt care about this and stayed at home... Then at the DEM side, 6 million people didnt vote for Kamala because . I'm sure there were some good reasons, but those people have to accept this result as a consequence. Then of course are the 77 million people who actually wanted this, they should be super happy they get what they want especially the MAGA women. The only people I feel sorry for are the 75 million who tried to stop this lunacy.
Most knew this was going to happen when they voted and they still voted for the orange turd, now the key question here is why? The answer is rather obvious, dems offer was worse. Give people what they want and win, it should be easy to offer something better, right?
Or at least PRETEND you'll give people what they want. That is how Trump got elected. He promised everyone everything. He told white racists he'll deport Latino's and at the same time he promised Latino's a glorious future as true Americans. But Dems could not even manage that. Fcking idiots.
Yeah, don't bring up the ridiculous levels of gerrymandering that made tons of peoples' votes worthless, or the laws they were passing for the last however-many years to make voting harder (no drinks in line, no getting your place back if you leave to eat/drink/use the bathroom, oh btw we closed 7/8 of the polling places in the heavily-blue area so all 70k of you have to vote in this one place on a work day when you're probably working 3 shifts) - it's all just pure laziness all the time, right?
actually yes. in the old age of america, if a president or congress/senate did this level of gerrymandering, people would pick up arms and go after the fuckers to ensure a free vote. now, too many are waiting for someone else to be the hero, so they don't risk their own butts.
In ye olden days people could organize into violence. Now, with government overwatch, camera's everywhere, it's extremely hard to make a left wing, socialist group big enough to be able to do something. Sure, those unite the right fascists could do the tiki-torch march in Charlottesville, but there is ZERO chance something similar could be done by... Antifa. I guarantee you they'd be all in jail for 30 years.
Dude shut up. The people of America DO NOT and WILL NOT ever have control of the country. Idk what fairy tale govt youâve been watching but everyone gets paid off, elections get rigged. Sexually abused women get murdered if they speak out. We will never have control until we take it by force. Out govt is broken and the American people DID NOT create this corruption. So please stfu with that stupid fucking argument
This is not the result of just 1 time voting. This is the result of DECADES of generations voting right wing. The builder, the boomers, genX. 80 years of right wing voting which totally destroyed The New Deal. 80 years of 'socialism bad, capitalism good'. I;m not saying you personally voted for this, I'm saying "The American People" voted for this over and over and over and over again. For DECADES. Every election a small step to the right (dems) or a HUGE step right (GOP). Never a step left.
Genocide was the (or at least one of them). And the Dem establishment was too enthusiastic about continuing it to change course. Shame they handed the country over to fascists instead.
I agree; Iâm not a Harris fan. But the fact is that either Trump or Harris was going to be the next President. That is indisputable. I didnât like it then, and I damn sure donât like it now, but those were choices.
And of those two choices, Harris was the better option. The last year has proven that to be true. Not a good option, but the better of two bad options. I donât like always having to vote for the lesser evil, but with our system, that is what you do in the general election.
Sometimes, for good people to do evil, all they must do is nothing. If the only two options are getting shot or getting punched, you just accept the black eye, then give them one in return.
No, there is an internal DNC report explaining why Kamala lost 6 million votes compared to Biden. You dont need a conspiracy. It;s all explainable with 'normal' things like gerrymandering and things like Kamala not want to call the genocide a genocide.
It's literally not a conspiracy. Trump said it on stage and investigations into the machines prove they were tampered with. If anything the conspiracy is that they weren't tampered with.
Suddenly Trump is telling the truth. Also, Kamala lost 2 million votes just in California alone, because that State is ruled by MAGA. And there was tampering with machines, but not a single Democrat is talking about it, not a single protest has been filed and not a single investigation has been done. Seriously. Just face the facts. Democrat voters stayed at home because Kamala was unable to get them off their couch. So the next DNc candidate has to be someone WHO CAN MOVITVATE PEOPLE TO VOTE
No. We don't have to accept this result as a consequence. I get it, it's hard to blame the bedbugs and easy to blame the exterminator, but the problem is still the dipshit that brought the bugs in.
Yeah you do. That's what happened because too many of you didn't vote for Kamala. But sure, go ahead and reject the responsibility you clearly have. Make sure to not learn from failure so you can fail again.
But, using your analogy, if you don't do anything to exterminate the bedbugs, then you are complicit in their propagation! What happened with the orange menace gaining office is that he has given the bedbugs a voice that is ACCEPTABLE to fellow fringe bedbugs. And now they are coming out of the woodwork...the bedbugs now have control and all that was needed was for the apathetic majority to vote. That's it...So yes, they bear the BRUNT of the blame. We all knew this was going to happen.
Trump is just the symptom. 'did not vote' has won every election in the past 40 years or so? Americans in general, not just Republicans but also Democrats, still think 'socialism' is bad. The majority of 'left leaning' voters actually want and vote for centrist policies. There are real socialists in primaries but they never go through to the grand finale. The roof leaks, the walls are moist, the front door has holes in it. The bedbug is just the symptom of 40 years bad maintenance.
except accurate definitions and facts would work on people willing to learn. As dumb as the ultra wealthy can be, the one thing they are exceedingly good at is keeping the poor dumb, ignorant and scared.
Yes, you're absolutely right, people not voting is a big problem. To continue my analogy, for legal reasons, fumigating is a temporary problem. We have to stop the guy bringing the bugs in, from being allowed in the house
But it's not just 1 guy. 40% of the people living in the house dont care if the roof leaks and there is bugs and rats everywhere. 30% is actually PRO rat-infestation. And then there is 30% who maaaaaaaybe want to do something against the bedbugs, but 90% of that 30% will say "you go too far" if you suggest something like "we should lock up the bedbug guy". And by that I mean: even in those 30% Democrats, suggesting progressive or socialist things is 6 bridges too far. I'd be surprised if USA 1/2
has around 10% of actual left wing people. ps: I;m from Europe I dont think we reach 20% over here and we're supposed to be much further to the left than Americans.
Not that itâs reason to celebrate, but my wife kept her last name for business purposes. Iâm cool with it. But now the local republicans are pissed that we will have two votes to their one because his wife took his last name. Have the day you voted for.
the major question is will be selective in checking who has the correct name on both? They could in majorily blue areas check for this while they don't in majorily red ones. and tadaa, thats how you negate a lot of blue votes while the reds still get theirs.
Of course its not legal but that doesn't mean its not real! Nothing actually stops a state or federal congress from passing illegal laws. They can be challenged but maga controls the supreme court so the right can break any law they want. Sadly this is very real, and it will be enforced mainly against presumed left wing voters.
as a German: I have to show my voting letter AND my id card to even be allowed in a voting booth ... and they have a list on their desk where I get crossed out / checked ... that I have voted ... how else do you want to make sure that the votes are legit and people only voted once? wtf?
Germany =/= USA when it comes to a lot of things but especially not when it comes to ID's. like the Netherlands, we are required by law to have an ID which is a blanket ID for everything. In the USA there are no such forced id's and even a bankstatement is considered some kind of ID for a lot of things. The ID's, like a passport, that CAN be used for voting aren't common and are very expensive+ timeconsuming to obtain plus they've ordered a stop to new applications for passports in some places.
I am from the US and I have voted in every election since I was 18 (over 30 years) and I have to produce my government issued ID to register to vote and when I go to the polls. The narrative that you can just walk in and vote is absolute bullshit that trump the MAGATs are spewing
The difference is you are required by law to have a Personalausweis. Everyone should already have an ID, so requiring that ID to vote doesn't prevent anyone from voting. Here in the US, you are not required by law to have ID. Also, the GOP has specifically excluded certain forms of ID, like student IDs, which are commonly accepted for most other purposes. Many people have an ID that works for all purposes EXCEPT voting.
