It's not like I look at the branding on my pack of cigarettes every time I pull one out. I'm too addicted, my brain just immediately goes "yep that's what we need"
There is a restaurant in Solon, Iowa called Jonesies. I have not been there for very long time, and it may well be closed by now. My father was in a nursing home there and I took him to Jones's a number of times for lunch. They had pork tenderloin sandwich where the fried tenderloin was about 15 inches in diameter. They were juicy and tender with just the right amount of salt and they were great with mayonnaise and pickles or BBQ sauce.
The ones in this video seem like they're even bigger!
Sad. Joensy's Restaurant in Solon, Iowa was a famous local diner known for serving massive pork tenderloins. The original spot opened in 1983, permanently closed in 2012, and was later torn down to make room for Big Grove Brewery.
Claim to Fame: Marketed as the "home of the biggest and best pork tenderloin in Iowa."
Closure: Shut down in 2012 following financial struggles and other factors. The original building was razed and replaced by Big Grove.
Can confirm, I live 30 minutes from where it used to be. My dad and I would stop there every time we rode our motorcycles through. Tenderloins literally bigger than your head. Oh, the memories.
We have a Jonesies in Akron, Indiana. The tenderloin is as big as you claim, you can rip the excess past the bun off and make a 2nd sandwich theres so much. Easily the best I've ever had, taste and value. I think the basket combo is like $12 and well worth it.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I'd not ask anyone to become a vegetarian, I'm not one myself, but can we at least limit ourselves to normal portions so we don't have to have cattle on every square meter of this planet, as well as lower the need to kill them? Thanks.
Absolutely, for most people and for daily meals 1-200 g meat is enough. But this is not that bad for a once-in-a-while meal. I have seen far worse excesses like this such as 1 kg burgers or similar with those competitive eater people.
Well a chicken fried steak is typically just liberally perforated (to tenderize) before breading and frying, while the schnitzel is violently pounded out to thin and soften it.
I get schnitzel. Especially panfried in butter with lemon. What I don't get is my state's insane prediction of putting that on a hamburger bun, adding some pickles and calling it a sandwich
Gimmicks sell product. I'll do you one better, the random white bread that comes with fried chicken or BBQ "its to sop up sauce and stuff" um a) I have a tongue and b) Texas toast does that too. Toast that shit!
Well said. There was a place in Peoria, IL that once sold pork tenderloin that were dinner plate size, they’d put in on a basic hamburger bun and give you a few pickles
They're pointing out a ratio thing. Unless Google image is doing me dirty, Schnitzelsemmel has a proper schnitzel to bread ratio. You get bread in every bite. Like a normal sandwich. Vs this
And they call it a tenderloin... it's usually shoulder. Als it's a fritter which by law is more than 50% breading to meat you can look that up. Whilst actual pork tenderloin is overlooked. It's a wonderful cut that can be cooked Med rare safely

Arcade Cafe in Bucharest, their Schnitzel menu is between 110-125 Lei so about ~21-24 Euro or 24-27 USD
makesense
And that size of Schnitzel would be worth that price. We have places here that sell smaller portions for more.
DaveSamsonite
I want to go to there

Just leave the gravy bucket. I got this.

How do you even cut the meat for that? zig-zag through half the pig?
theThousandHells
Might be chicken schnitzel? Really big breast just pounded the fuck flat?
seckzie
Yeah they pound it very flat, thin and big, i have had it both with chicken and pork. This menu says it is beef though, never had that.

I schnit you not!

Schnitzels served this way are usually hammered out very thin. Meny says these are 400 g beef meat. Big portion for most, but not extreme.
NotTheMamaNotTheMama
400 g can feed 4 persons.
metalucivs3000
What? I personally eat around 500 to 750 grams of meat a day. I don't think I'm unusual compared to people around me.
seckzie

Looking at the menu, it's probably the Giant Beef Schnitzel
choppedliveraldente
You're a giant beef schnitzel
ElbowDeepInUserSub
I'd imagine at that size, they're definitely pork.
Bubbells
At that size it is still possible to use chicken, but you have to process it right. Possibly even use meat glue
GravyEducation
The chicken emoji was very ill used in the TikTak
cusbuster
I'm guessing beef.
ElbowDeepInUserSub
Not to claim that it never happens, but I've never seen a beef schnitzel
cusbuster
Well, veal is a type of beef, but today, not PC, so beef is used instead. They used to be chicken or veal.
RicheTheBuddha
Is there a difference between a schnitzel and a Chicken Fry Steak? Can this be ordered with a side of Crestor?
ElbowDeepInUserSub
Well a chicken fried steak is typically just liberally perforated (to tenderize) before breading and frying, while the schnitzel is violently pounded out to thin and soften it.
AfterTheRainComesTheRainbow
They're common in Australia. Sometimes i turn a Rump steak into a thick schnit
pharm2016
Their menu says it's beef

That's fucking weird. I'd still try it though.

The bullshit is that they call it tenderloin. It's loin. Either way it's a terrible way to use one of the best cuts of pork
Tolocamp
That is called a "Schnitzelsemmel" and is a completely legitimate way to eat Schnitzel in the homecountry of Schnitzel. So where is the problem ?
Don't like that other people like what you don't like ? Just move on dude.
