You came to the wrong neighborhood, mother fuckers!
Ganonderf
I think a better question would be who wasn’t afraid of Lady Elaine?
sangatster
I think it's the black death growing on her nose that does it for me.

Yeah definitely a creepy character from such a wholesome show.

and that scratchy witch-like voice.....
xemlr
I was terrified of my teacher in 2nd grade because she looked just like Lady Elaine. I was sent to the guidance counselor a couple times...
HashtagSupernova
As good a show as it was, they jsut could NOT do puppets. They were all creepy and awful.
Iammydoppelganger
Was???? Was!!!! Holy shit!!!!!
SeeDubs8301
And the chills I thought I was over as a young’n, returned.
Death83
All of those fucking puppets actually.
velveteenbones
I called her Miss Sausage face and had night terrors about her until I was 13. My mother had to make sure I didn’t accidentally see her
spacejunkrepair
Fred did her voice. Think hard about how, twisted and dark his mind really was
imeanreally
I rarely upvote, but by the blood of Christ YES! She was the most fucked up puppet in the hood.
miklethertrac
Lady Elaine Fairchilde, last name came to me immediately
TreasonousCheeto
I watched that show quite a bit as a kid, but would always tune out when the puppets came on. They weirded me out.
YevKaseem
Her spinning house was cool though.
shuttlecockinakumquat
Her cat roommate was cool, but I'm still 100% sure she's going to murder me.
DropKickHead
No, legit that cat was dope. He was probably the coolest puppet character, sucks he had such a stuck-up roommate

Mr. Rogers
Leon the professional, watch it asap

Why did they make her look like a haggard, homeless alcoholic? Ya that seems really inviting...to a child
LordHosk
the puppet was originally created when 10-15 inch black and white TVs were the norm, they didnt update it when 20-24 inch color was standard
on a smaller Black and white screen you need more contrast and splash to make the characters stand out.
neonoptic
I hated everything about make believe, I just wanted to hear Mr. Rogers for 20 minutes honestly. Well longer would be optimal but you know.
ljosalfar
Even as a child, I liked hanging with Rogers way more than the land of Make-Believe.
GANAWA
My bed was almost against a wall and I made my dad move it before I would sleep in it. Just in case she popped up in the gap.
I think we have ... A WINNER!
jesus, you poor thing. what a horrible memory

This bitch is why I associate Mr. Rodger’s face with unyielding feeling of terror. **I am not joking.**
I don't even blame you
kmikl
To be fair, that's his representation of his sister.

Fred Rogers, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, was a children's show on public TV. Fred was a great man, but these puppets, some were crimge-worthy.
...or cringe-worthy for those who can speak clearly with their thumbs.
StewedTomaters
Or their index finger. They're on PC, lol.
