My wife is also in my phone as her name, and I'm in here a mine?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife is in my contacts as "AA (her first name)", without parenthesis, so that she's at the top of the list, not alphabeticised with the riff-raff....

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Back when I used ringtones, my wife’s was Fat Bottom Girls and my moms was darth vaders theme

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

My mom's is the Addams family theme and her notification tone is the ringtone from animal crossing.

I don't know my husband's phone ringtone but his notification sound is "Ah Biscuits!" From bluey. We use a different app to keep in touch so if he has to text something is wrong.

My kids are each just their nicknames

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So for example, my daughter Mae is "my girl"

"When it's cold outside, I've got the month of 'Mae'"

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My Twin is “womb mate”

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

not "wombie" ?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have my older sister in my phone as "The First Mistake".

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've had one of my friends in my phone as "the Vatican" since like 2004 and every time he calls I say "I have to take this... It's a call from the Vatican."

My parents live in a white house, so I listed their home number as The White House and would do the same as you.

Omg I may need to rename my mom now.

Right now shes "My Mom" while my mother in law is "His Mom"

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I have an ex that calls about once a year about the time i forget she exists and usually at the most inopportune or awkward times. I have her saved as "The Spanish Inquisition"

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I saved my mother as "The Empire" and my father as "Palpatine"

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

My ringtone for my boss is the imperial march https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3SZ5sIMY6o

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's what I have for my dad

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had my dad listed as "The White House" and I used to wear a "Culinary Institute of America" hat to work. A coworker saw both and did math.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had someone in my phone as "dumbass" for quite a few years, and I can't figure out who it is.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had my wife listed by her "maiden name" for about a decade, before I finally updated the contact info.

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Must have been an 'extended probationary period'?

I’m listed as “spawn point” in my daughter’s phone.

It took me a while to realise that it was Jennifer posting.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My younger brother is "attempt nr.2"

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

My younger brother saved his contact to my phone years ago. He named himself "King [...] my idol". I never changed it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife is in my phone with her first and last name. Are we not supposed to put people in our phones by their name?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My one and only daughter is in as “My favourite daughter”

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had my boss's boss's boss on my work phone as "Matt, NOT DRUGS-MATT" and forgot about it when I sent the contact to someone who asked for it.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

It's weird seeing how many people are apparently spending a lot of energy planning how random people will identify their contacts as someone to call in an emergency, while not considering that a) those people will not be able to unlock your phone to look at the contacts at all and b) any phone made after 1742 allows you to actually set up explicit emergency information, such as contacts or medical info, which can be accessed even when the phone is locked.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Y'all, protect your women. Someone steals your phone and probably knows your address and now the woman of the house because you saved her as "wife". As someone with a security clearance from the past, you think about these things. also don't save mom or dad, use first names as a scammer now knows you your parents due to your contacts.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People who steal your phone do not care about whatever you have on there. They want everything deleted so that they can sell them. Scammers and muggers are both scum but usually not doing both at the same time.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sooo, my phone is encrypted and so are practically all smartphones nowadays. This feels like slightly outdated advice.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are we not supposed to use their name? What happens if you get into an accident and someone has to call your in case of emergency contact but that name is “blonde 8”?

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

When the contacts list has Side Piece, backup, battle ax, current piece, wife’s side piece, and DONT ANSWER…

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Interesting your phone's unlocked for random people to go through? Also there's an emergency contact setting.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Not mine, I have the ICE settings. But my dad is old and can’t seem to remember a pin so his is unlocked all the time.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Now I want to know how many identical twins does he have.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Two hundred thousand now, with another million on the way.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably the same number most people have when they are parents to identical twins.

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Maury retired? v

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yup. Now when I’m sick at home all I do is watch “You’re not the father” compilations from Maury.

wife labeled as 'ex gf' works too.

Daughter has me down as birth giver

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Few years back, my gf came across a meme where you replace the first 4 letters of your first and last name with the word “fuck”. That’s what I’ve had her as in my phone since then. I forget sometimes that’s what shows up when I share her contact info with others.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

My name would just be fuck fucker lol

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Mine is Fuckie Fucks

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not-so-atomic detective more like it...JK I thought the same exact thing haha

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hey I can only detect microscopic, quantum level things.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is it abnormal to do this? I have my husband as his first and last name

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It should be ICE. That was a great idea and I wish it had caught on better.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Never heard of it. I wonder how many first responders are even aware of it.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, I think all phones now have a way to access emergency calls, contacts and medical information even if the phone is locked. Making sure that this info is up to date is probably more productive.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks. I knew it could make emergency calls, i.e. 911, but had never looked into it far enough to see I could add an emergency contact that would be accessible as well. Let alone medical info. Definitely going to take advantage of that. Also, if I find a lost phone, I'll check for emergency contact availability to see if I can return it to the proper owner that way.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Doesn't your phone have an emergency contacts group that appears on your phone even when locked?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure all phones that were built in the last eight hundred years have some version of this. Not to mention random people wouldn't even be able to see any normal contacts unless your phone is permanently unlocked.

Do people not know that if you have them as a contact with email and then send email more than one person and you include your spouse and you cave them some cutsie name that everyone gets the cutsie name. Here lets email the bank about refinancing, To "Bank Manager" and "Fat Bottom" reply from "Fat bottom" to Bank Manager and "Big Dickus" Just saying. You would be surprised how often this happens.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I know that's not how my phone is set up straight out of the box, and certainly not how anyone's phone SHOULD be set up.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Not your phone, your contacts. See what I mean most people do not comprehend there are differences. When you get a new phone do you import your contacts? Are your contacts stored in a cloud address list, synced with Gmail or Exchange, so when you go to your computer open your email there, the contacts on your phone are synced there. When you connect to work email, do you sync your personal contacts? This is where that comes in. If you are on say gmail in to field type "wifey" or what ever

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

An email To field or From field behind the scenes is simply structured like this To: Text name <partone@domain.com> So if you have someone in contacts name as Fat Bottom, and their email address as fb@gmail.com and you email them yoru email client sends it as To: Fat Bottom and everyone on that email now gets the name Fat Bottom for fb@gmail.com Its like this when you fill out a form online as well You enter your name Box 1, email Box 2, it combines them for you. How email works

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Work emails they give you a name, they give you a user name and they give you an email address and this is all set up for you so this doesn't happen. However your personal email and address lists. Your on your own.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Synced? Fuck no why would I want to sync anything with anything.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Most people do, and if you sign into your phone with your Gmail Account, it is an option and selected by default. If you sign into Apple guess what it is an option and selected by default think at how many people just sign in and don't take the time to uncheck. The whole sync with cloud.

My wife is Big Titty Goth Wife.

The irony is that she's none of those things!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plot twist: she actually is the side hoe.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

I also have everyone in my phone as their name. Friend, foe, mum, housemate, workmate from 2 jobs ago, it makes no difference

2 years ago | Likes 231 Dislikes 0

Not me, some of mine, Wayne Useless, MIL don't answer, Matty McBeardy Boy, Firewood Guy.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah but firewood guy probably gets the 🦫

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If someone steals your phone then sends a text to them it makes it harder to see who is who. Say if “Mom” is a contact they could send a text saying “all is good” but a full name they don’t know. Or “Wife”

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A received a call from a friend once and was like "who the fuck is that name" because I never used their real name (because they prefer being called by their nickname) that caused me a bit of confusion, so now it's firstname "nickname" lastname

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did the same thing, and everyone called it weird. But like, I'm not going to give someone going through my phone an easy way to find my parents

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I just have everyone in as 'friend', 'foe', 'mum', 'housemate' or 'workmate from 2 jobs ago'. I find all people fit into one of those 5 categories.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

But what do you do with people who fit in several of those. This is why we need tag based phonebooks.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If they confuse the system then they will quickly become a foe.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Me also except anyone who is work related has Work before their name, so I don't accidentally drunk dial the wrong person. Its very clear.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Isn't that how it is supposed to be? Asking for a friend.
Also he probably wrote her number up before she was his wife?
Who in the world does rename contacts?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Me too. Or else it would be weird.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, do you people do not share contacts with other people? I really don't want to accidentally send someone a contact with whatever pet name I'm using today

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I have their name and form name so I don't confuse them

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same, except for one person, who is in my phone as "Worthless Fucking Drunkard"

2 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

is... is it me?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, you put yourself as a contact in your own phone?

2 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

Well how else would you send messages to yourself?

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

People laugh, but I do that. And I have them delivered at specific times when I know I'll need them because I've forgotten something. It's like texting through time.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Mum, is that you?

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Just block that person and delete their number?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh you have my mom's phone number too eh?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Mom" is shorter...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nah, I dont have my moms number saved. She can roast in hell for all I care. Drunkard is a family member I am forced to have contact with.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My wife is “Jenny - ex gf material”

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

YOU’RE her name

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And it puts her way higher in the contacts list than "wife" would.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've got my wife in my phone as A_ instead of just so she sorts to be the first person on my contacts list.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have my husband as a favorite so he's above everyone else. You know, like how speed dial worked.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can put her real name without any additions AND add your relation on the contact info. I did that with my mom so she could say "Siri, call my daughter" or "Siri, call my son".

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, I probably call her once every other month and nearly never text her. I just send memes via discord all day. So this solution is plenty good enough. Also, I'm never going to use Siri.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have my wife as her first and last name with —wife

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Good tip in case you forget.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My thought was more if someone has to look at my emergency contacts it has the 3 with names + relationships. So my parents have - mom and -dad after them in addition to my -wife

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apple does this shit! I promise! It cross-references and corrects. ----- I had people under nicknames. ----- All kinds of stupid fucking names. ------ Big Frank, Dr. Delicious, Pistol Pat, Gunt Guzzler, I mean really juvenile shit half the time and vaguely lovey others ------ Apple replaced them all with real names.

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

Good your an adult now... you are not 13. It's time to use real names

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 18

I think your contacts essentially replaced their own names. Recent iOS allows users to create contact posters, edit name, photo, etc. and “share” their contact info and photo with their contacts. Unless you actually have a friend named Gunt Guzzler, in which case yeah that’s weird Apple did that.

2 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It may have done that sometimes, but I swear, after a recent update, contacts like looks for other spots and other apps in which I have contacts, then suggests a name for all the silly named ones, then eventually just replaces it with something more accurate on its own. There's probably a setting somewhere I can find to turn it off. But lately it's doing some shit.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Can we... can we get a story how someone got the name "Gunt Guzzler"?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

By guzzling gunts, presumably

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm guessing she was expecting wifey💖💗💘💘💙💚💜💛, or lovey dovey poo, or something.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The EMT that had to use my emergency contacts said I was the first one she'd seen that used full names, and was very thankful for it.

2 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

i put peoples names into another language on my phone. only 1 name has latin letters and those are ICE.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean - OK, but if "the guys" see that shit, I'm going to get razzed for years. It's not worth the chance.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

I had my wife in my phone as Wifey. None of the hearts, but still. I can't remember if any of my friends ever gave me any kind of shit for it, i think so, but if they did, I just accused them of having a dead and rotting inner child and razzed them back about not having any love or fun left in them. Was a good time.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Huh. If the razzing for something like that goes beyond playful jokes that makes you laugh as much as them that's a big red flag.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Playful jokes can be annoying enough.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I know nothing about you or your surroundings but that seems pretty sad if you don’t feel comfortable being vulnerable around your friends

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

There are different kinds of people and different kinds of friends.
It is normal to open different sides of yourself to different people. And other sides to have strictly for someone else.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Good god - it would just be playful banter.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I add people to my contacts when I meet them. It's not like I add them at our wedding. Am I supposed to go through and edit all my contacts when our relationship changes? Why? I'm the only person that's going to see it. I just need to be able to tell who they are

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

You probably not stalker-ish enough

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you update people if they do this old-timey thing of taking on someone else's family name after marriage?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sometimes, if I think of it. Come to think of it, I have some trans friends still on my contact list under their deadname but I mostly speak to them online. Don't remember the last time I actually texted them

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I changed my spouse to “husband” in my phone so if im unconscious someone can call the right person to help me. My dad is “father” and my mom is “Brenda”

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it's very likely your mom's name is Brenda, but it's more fun to imagine it isn't

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I took it as: don't contact my mother (Brenda), but do contact father and/or husband (not sure if that's the correct interpretation though [?])
