#1 can we talk about this man’s face seems propose built to support eyeglasses? Tip-tier myopia nose genetics. Bet that man never had to adjust them once.

#41 I laughed way too hard at this

#37 This is very touching but it also demonstrates the tragedy of American healthcare — i.e. that people have to take up a collection or do a gofundme to pay for cancer treatment.

I wish that I could be the stable, supporting friend for everyone struggling. But I'm already at capacity for the friends I'm helping. And sometimes I feel a little guilty about not having more for people who also need it. What is that called? Is there a name for it?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Saviours complex. You could devote your whole everything to only helping your friends and than your family would still miss your help. Or the animal shelter. Or the homeless shelter. You have more empathy than energy and that’s a good thing, but don’t let it eat you up. Only give what you can miss.

I've got pretty strong boundaries and definite limits. But that doesn't stop me from feeling bad about not having more capacity.

#27 ehh... That's been a while.

Try Imperator Furiosa(Mad Max: Fury Road) for a prime example of that visual in action. Others that come to mind would be Ellen Ripley(Alien), Evelyn Wang(Everything Everywhere all at Once), Jackie Brown(Jackie Brown), Beatrix Kiddo(Kill Bill), Sarah Connor(Terminator) and Alice(Resident Evil).

#23 I agree with everything there, but that mnemonic is simply ridiculous.

3 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Mnemonics often are. The key is really just finding one that's ridiculous in such a way that you'll remember it. That one absolutely wouldn't work for me, personally, but the ones I remember are the silliest

#15 One of my favorite fantasies is that I could travel back in time, replace my dad, and raise me right. I settled for raising my own kid right but feel I could do better if I had another shot at it. Live and learn.

#25 I love the positivity, imagery, and message about this post, but then I started to think how many of those things would be part of my flower and it's... A lot. Too much going on there :/

#37 this is not the feel good story you think it is.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

It is absolutely for some of us. It's just sad that it has to be. I didn't downvote you for the record.

@OP thanks for the positivity aimed at real gender equality. I see posts about protecting women and double standards all the time, but rarely the other way around (like #19 & #31)

#11 with all due respect to dr heidi green, fuck off. my parents didnt do the best they could. Not going into it but i know this for a fact.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think this is going off of the idea that what we do is typically the best we can, because if we don't then in that moment we aren't capable. I'm not giving them a pass, I'm not even agreeing with the sentiment, just passing on some of the philosophical shit I've picked up on my journey.

I don't think it's meant to be universal. My mom did her best, my dad didn't. Both did a lot of damage in their own ways. Trauma from my mom was harder to process, specifically BECAUSE she was trying so hard, and that point was a very difficult lesson for me to learn. I think that first point really is just meant for people who are struggling with that.
