This discussion is literally about simultaneous streaming access.
TobyFromHumanResources
How can you sell different tiered subscriptions with different numbers of SIMULTANEOUS uses and not think this was going to happen?
SpecialProjectY
Consoles do that with exclusives past couple decades, you buying a PC and a couple gaming system works every couple years. Problem?
Those plans were implemented as a response to the account sharing, to make at least some more money off it.
This is a click bait issue. The real issue streaming services are tackling are companies selling access to thousands of ppl through 1 login
tornadosandwich
What they could do is offer and even cheaper option that doesn’t allow more than one device to stream at once or multiple profiles.

You need a password manager. Keepass is an excellent tool for the job, "keepassxc" is a good client for it for linux/mac/windows.
You can sync it to your phone and other devices too. All my passwords are pure random with as many characters as I'm allowed to
register with and I don't have to remember any of them.

They got rid of those when they thought that was going to be how Xbox One worked. Then Microsoft dropped it.
ICreatedThisAccountToPostPicsOfMyTwoCats
They havent had those in almost a decade. Clearly you don't play EA Games
AlmostScientist
I stopped buying their stuff when it happened. Switched to PC
Permi
Damn someone is still living in the year 2011.
Ceracuse
Haven't played anything EA in a while... You actually have to pay to enter matchmaking??
caedescorvidus
"Season Pass" is the term most of these crap games use
Canteu
No. It's more, pay for the pass to earn cosmetics and stuff as you play. THey really only do it with Apex now.
theyar
I'm pretty sure it's not the same thing.
BlackBiscuit
"Hey dude, can i watch that DVD of Bad Boys 2 you've got?" "Sorry man... you haven't bought it." Not the same, but pretty fucking close.
theyar
Actually entirely different. We're talking about simultaneous access to a whole library.
BlackBiscuit
Good point, sir. I concede.
YouL0stTheGame
They’re both sharing entertainment that you bought with other people who haven’t bought it
rudejohn
If I lend you my DVD, I can't also watch it. If i give you my streaming password, I've created duplicate access to the entire catalog.
bearjew1990
I don't know why people who are right get downvoted so much here. You didn't even make a stance on anything, just pointed out how its
bearjew1990
Different. Imgur users have gone to hell
Blutsaugher
It's funny how you omitted you can't watch streams simultaneously. Also, dvd copies are permanent, subscriptions aren't.
Blutsaugher
I agree they're not the same thing, but they're definitely shittier. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
theyar
This discussion is literally about simultaneous streaming access.
TobyFromHumanResources
How can you sell different tiered subscriptions with different numbers of SIMULTANEOUS uses and not think this was going to happen?
SpecialProjectY
Consoles do that with exclusives past couple decades, you buying a PC and a couple gaming system works every couple years. Problem?
IamNotAshamed
Those plans were implemented as a response to the account sharing, to make at least some more money off it.
Raecracy123abc
This is a click bait issue. The real issue streaming services are tackling are companies selling access to thousands of ppl through 1 login
tornadosandwich
What they could do is offer and even cheaper option that doesn’t allow more than one device to stream at once or multiple profiles.
Ruik
Just selling the old cable/satellite tv packages back to you, minus commercials.
Ozarck
"minus commercials." For now.
Ruik
Exactly.
TobyFromHumanResources
Oh man when I watch ripped US torrents and there are ads INSIDE the show, popping up on the bottom etc... How do you all deal with it
Ruik
I've avoided TV for over a decade because of commercials. If it weren't for adblock plus and paid streaming, I'd be far out of the loop.
OishiiO
And why cant i buy UHD and HD streaming only for one user
TobyFromHumanResources
Well there it is.
capillano
The people that designed it assumed everyone has 8 TVs in 19 different rooms and two more near the pool and tennis court like they have
armagetz
More like this is why it happened. Or wait.....you think Netflix and crew said this because OP made a title?
FlyingButtPliers
If my kid goes to college how is that different than them being upstairs as far as they are concerned?
apbadogs
My kids watch my Netflix account, one is away at college and the other is married and lives 6 hours away from us. Still family.
ZircZZ
It's not. Our oldest kid still uses our subscription. She moved out two years ago.
SarcasticComment
Easy. Log everyone off every few months. You will drop a few people caught in a situation where it is too awkward to ask for the pass again.
Lulabel73
Please no. I’m old I can’t remember all these log ons
n0gal
You need a password manager. Keepass is an excellent tool for the job, "keepassxc" is a good client for it for linux/mac/windows.
n0gal
You can sync it to your phone and other devices too. All my passwords are pure random with as many characters as I'm allowed to
n0gal
register with and I don't have to remember any of them.
SarcasticComment
*Log ins, old timer.
Lulabel73
You know I was going to go with that but I thought someone would say log ons is plural. lol.
TobyFromHumanResources
Like, why would I need the option to stream to 4 devices at the same time unless it was 4 different people?
Caesar56
Are you idiot? Think again why.
TobyFromHumanResources
Elmhafudd
4 people in one house hold
Thekindofkindlyman
Because I like to party
overworkeddad
Yep just happens that my daughter is across town in a different house
imgur1stTheory
Some people have kids. Kids are little people that live in your house with you.
AngryDrBanner
I have little people that live in my house.
Woodncookies
Those are Smurfs. First clue: Fuckin blue.
lietotheelderly
Deadlynitro
Why? They're actively reviewing it and discussing about reducing it to 2 max viewers at a time already.
usersubbordercontrol
Solution: download all the videos by just downloading the stream directly
3PiecesOfBread
Solution 2: Torrents
Deadlynitro
Companies such as let's call them Natflax like you to revalidate your download after a few days.
Tairu8
Four people in the same household who want to watch different things. That’s generally why they put that stuff in, not to share with someone
MtMuschmore
Ya people would have been raging forever if you only got one device no matter the plan.
SarcasticComment
Well. There are 2 in my household and we watch things together. If I'm paying for 4, I will trade the 3 logins with other people.
ElbowDeep
Whether is someone in the next room, or the next state, why does it matter if multiple screens are being paid for, still same amount of ppl
Isthe4thtimethecharm
Yeah but netflix has zero password requirements. Mine is a 4 letter password. They know you are going to share.
BigDaddysMeatWagon
Sounds like sharing to me, household or not it's one account.
DongSayaDae
"Lemme just watch these 4 movies at the same time on these 4 devices"
OliverClothesoff70
OK, but I travel 50% of my life for work. Do they think my family needs one subscription for my wife & kids & a 2nd subscription for me?
theyar
No, they don't.
Mooki
As long as that machine occasionally appears in the same place as related users it's probably fine. The problem is 100% unrelated users.
wHatThEQuAk
"problem"
potshot
No, you're still a household, even if you aren't presently in the household.
Tairu8
who lives in another state or something.
charlietrundlethegreat
They can kiss my smelly ass I forgot to clean two days ago
BishlamekGurpgork
Don they care, through? DO they make a fuss if I share my 2-user subscription with one person in Idaho?
TobyFromHumanResources
Why should it matter who you share with?
theyar
Because buying a separate account for each member of your household is stupid but separate people with separate lives should have their own.
Sugarcrotch
because they are a business and like any business they want to make as much money as possible
BenjamanFranklin
In the old times. Netflix used to encourage sharing. How times have changed.
tiikuri
It's in the text you clicked "agree" on. You made a deal with Netflix to only share it with people in the same household.
PostNutDepression
If you're paying for four devices, you're paying for four devices.
