Naples, Day 1. Honestly? Didn’t expect to love it this much.

Landed Saturday noon, bags took ages, rental car sorted, and then immediately hit our first Naples moment: no parking at the hotel. Classic. After some back and forth we found a private spot nearby and honestly, for the location we got, it was worth it.

Didn’t even bother unpacking properly. Just went straight out to explore. And Naples rewards that instantly.

The traffic is absolutely unhinged. No lanes, no rules, scooters overtaking you from both sides at once. It sounds stressful but it’s actually kind of thrilling to watch. The city just moves.

Found a place for lunch almost by accident. Mostly locals, friendly staff, zero pretension. The pizza here is something else. Proper Neapolitan, charred crust, fresh mozzarella, cherry tomatoes. My company went straight for the fried mixed seafood with lemon and didn’t come up for air. Good prices too, which was a welcome surprise after the parking situation

Spent the afternoon walking everything. Wide leafy boulevards, a 700 year old castle sitting there like it’s no big deal, tiny old town alleys strung with lights and flower pots, hidden trattorias glowing with warmth. Around every corner something worth stopping for.

On our way to dinner we stumbled into a street event that emphasized Palestinian human rights. A pleasant surprise, people out in the streets, passionate and peaceful. Felt right at home in a city this alive.

And dinner itself did not disappoint. Seafood risotto and caprese for the table, and I went for a fried veal cutlet that was enormous and absolutely perfect. Naples really doesn’t miss with food.

People here are genuinely warm. The city has a reputation. Didn’t feel it once.
