I like to think that rather than appease(sp?) everyone, this instead will split reality into x amount of new dimensions where everyone wins. If your team loses you didn't pray hard enough.

In my spare time I plan (never enough time to write) fantasy stories.
One world I have works like that… A demigod got the power to break causality and mess with timelines, but every time she does, there must be _some_ continuity that preserves history. Changing something in the past means making a new reality (until God eats that whole reality… it’s a weird story).
There are creatures able to perceive and exist in multiple timelines… and her meddling quickly drives them all seemingly-insane.

Must be some minor, niche ones, because the biggest ones are a lot more fucked up than that. They teach you that God is perfect and has a plan for everyone, and they teach you to pray for God to alter that perfect plan, and they teach you that if your prayer doesn't work it's because "God works in mysterious ways". Oglaf's version is simple and logical, and religions are neither. That's what makes them so toxic, the indoctrination designed to suppress critical thinking.

1 John 5:14-15 has the requirement of being god's will in many interpretation of the bible, and that that caveat is the blanket answer for prayers not answered by most christians. Find a religion without the God's will requirement and you may be right. Otherwise to ask for a win in sports arguably is a prideful ask.

I agree there are caveats to this, but if our hypothetical deity only wills it not a draw, then praying for your team to win would be fine. Since both are equally willed, it must boil down to something else. May as well be the number of orphans praying for it.
